    My cart made it about 150 feet from my barn before it died. I have to git my Zero Turn mower to tow it back to the garage. Hooked up the charger, nothing. So, hit the internet, found your site and followed your instructions on partially charging 2 six volt batteries for 8 minutes each, plugged in the charger and BAM! It started charging. AWESOME> Thanks for the great advice.

    If I disable the OBC or On Board Computer
    on my 2006 Club Car Precedent, can I use a
    LINKS Series charger EPS by Lester Electric to charge my cart?

    • @GolfCartGarage
      @GolfCartGarage  Před 2 lety

      Hey, thanks for watching! No, the Links series from Lester does not have an internal control unit. It's on and off commands are given by the OBC, so it cannot operate if the OBC is malfunctioning or disabled. We recommend the Summit II model for these situations, using an onboard charger will bypass the OBC and Summit II is self-controlled. Do you need to unhook all of the batteries to charge them individually? Assuming you need to I have other question, I have 8 volt batteries and a 12v charger. Question is when I connect to two 8v batteries as suggested in the video do I need to have them connected with a cable? Or will connecting my positive voltage to one battery and negative voltage to the other battery be enough to charge both?

    • @GolfCartGarage
      @GolfCartGarage  Před 4 lety +1

      Hey Billy! No need to unhook anything. And, we're not trying to do a full charge, here. Just trying to place enough quick voltage into the batteries to get things going. Match voltage as closely as possible and give each battery 5-10 minutes to start.

    • @GolfCartGarage
      @GolfCartGarage  Před 4 lety

      Hey! Yes, you'll be ok to use that machine. The goal is to just put enough voltage into the batteries to get your main charger to recognize that it's connected. We're not trying for a full charge or regular use, it should be fine to use that once to get where you need to be! What amperage should you charge them at?
    I have a 48 volt cart with 6 8 volt batteries if i charge two at a time with a 12 volt charger at what amperage? My option on my charger are 2,4, or 8 amp?

    • @GolfCartGarage
      @GolfCartGarage  Před 2 lety

      Thanks for watching, Jacob! We suggest the 8amp setting for fastest jump charge. Once your full charger is working on the whole system, it will be considerably higher. If you have more questions, or if we can help in any way, get in touch! support@golfcartgarage.com or (800) 401-2934

    • @GolfCartGarage

      Nothing wrong with that as a one time fix. You're not trying to charge them all the way up... just enough to get some voltage in them so your regular charger will get a signal to start up. New golf cart owner here; regrettably (wife wanted one). Came back from military training and two of the batteries had left a residue at the top where the caps are. The batteries are all low. Volt meter read about. .01 on all of them. The cart rides jerky and the throttle response is so random. Though I have no clue what I'm dealing with here I'm thinking the batteries or motor are crap despite us just getting this thing. Any ideas? Also I'm going to trickle charge 2 at a time to get it going again hopefully 🤞.
    Side note: I'm a mechanic but I'm so scared to be a tesla owner now 😂

      Thanks for watching, Andrew! If you don't have a full charge of about 2 to 4 Volts above your 36 or 48 Volt total, the cart will definitely have problems performing. If you need more help, you can get a free, real time video diagnosis here: www.golfcartgarage.com/gearheads-on-demand/

    I have a Western with 7 6v batteries. Can I charge one battery at a time? 12v jumper.

    • @GolfCartGarage
      @GolfCartGarage  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks for watching, Eddie! Yes, you can use your 12v charger to charge 2 at a time for the most part and then charge the last one on its own or in tandem with another one that's already been charged a bit, for a short time, it won't hurt anything. Again, it's not an attempt to charge the batteries all the way up, just enough to put some juice into them so your main charger can recognize voltage telling it to do its job when you plug it in to the cart. But, if you have more questions or need help, just get in touch! Support@GolfCartGarage.com or (800) 401-2934

    • @GolfCartGarage
      @GolfCartGarage  Před rokem

      Thanks for watching, Jeff. When this happened to one of our service carts, it turned out to be a single dead cell in one battery that needed replaced. This condition will not allow a charger to finish its cycle. We recommend testing each battery individually. Check here: czcams.com/video/NsUkLCTWSnQ/video.html

    Can a solar panel be used to “ trickle “ charge the cart to keep up the batteries

    • @GolfCartGarage
      @GolfCartGarage  Před 5 měsíci

      Thanks for watching! The short answer is yes, there are some drivers that do that. We do not retail solar systems, however. The chargers on our site have an advanced storage mode. There are some factors to consider depending on how much you're expecting of a solar system and what equipment you're using. We'd have some follow up questions, but you can reach our techs at Support@GolfCartGarage.com or (800) 401-2934

    • @GolfCartGarage
      @GolfCartGarage  Před 4 lety

      Greetings! Thanks for sending your inquiry to Golf Cart Garage.
      In order to use a standard golf cart charger, you'll need to be near an outlet at least close enough for an extension cord. However, when charging as described in this video, one would need a "jump box" or handheld automotive charger with direct connections like the clamps in the video. These are available at auto parts and big box stores affordably.
