The hit Netflix Show Baby Reindeer premiered just over a month ago and has earned its creator Richard Gadd rave reviews, along with praise over how he portrayed themes of stalking and sa.
But one person who isn’t impressed is Fiona Harvey, a woman internet sleuths quickly identified as the ‘real’ Martha Scott, who harasses Richard Gadd’s character Donny in the show. On Piers Morgan Uncensored, Fiona repeatedly denies stalking Gadd in real life; calling him 'psychotic' and a 'liar'. She also makes it clear that she’ll be taking legal action in the near future.
Piers does press Fiona though, on the fact that Gadd claims that he indeed possesses around 41,000 emails from her. Also, She reveals that she uses four separate phones, saying “I like keeping people on separate phones”.

Did anyone actually take the series to be completely factual? I assumed that it was a well dramatized and exaggerated version of the ‘true story’ it was based upon. Additionally, loved it! 🖤

To make it watchable, more are seeing it due to the hype around it being real, and some do not see or understand it is not all real xx
I agree. Anything that says it is a true story but then is acted out by actors as opposed to interviews with the real people like a documentary, I know it will be embellished for entertainment value. I really don’t think there’s any lawsuit that will make it to court.

I think he altered the story for a more satisfying ending. But it’s so obvious that most of it was true. He has issues. But she is truly disturbed. I think most of what she told Piers was a lie. Her denials rang false. She is exactly the character seen in the show.

It's so wild because her doing this is forcing his hand to show the receipts, if he has them, which is NOT good for her, but tracks if she IS who he claims she is, because she literally cannot help herself. SMDH.

I watched an interview from about 5 years ago with Richard. I'm sure he changed some of the information, but I believe he told the story from his perspective. I don't believe Fiona, she can't seem to get her OWN facts straight! I mean who contacts someone who served you in a bar, especially one who she claims was rude to her!

Who sends one letter to someone she doesn’t know where he lives. A few emails and a bunch of tweets she met only a few times.
The tweets literally refer to her curtains being hung which she describes as a thing he said to her and she rejected him. Why would you tweet someone you rejected and referred to the pick up line.
Exactly! But I think a lot of the people questioning his story need to think how they would feel if this was a woman in his position and a man stalking her!
What world do we live in where facts no longer matter? She was portrayed as a serial offender, which she isn't, and having gone to prison twice for stalking, which she verifiably didn't. How do people continue to treat the story as true or largely true when lies of this magnitude were used?
I don't see Baby Reindeer as a victim. He definitely has some Atypical behaviors that could be autism or trauma- but he absolutely recognizes Martha for who she is, he spends the show antagonizing over what she will do next and he is often correct in his future predictions of her. To Baby Reindeer, Martha was predictable, he recognized that crazy so well he knew how to manipulate it. And he manipulated her in ways that he could play the victim on stage. But if you recognize someone is mentally unhealthy and you take the opportunity to exploite their issue- you aren't the victim.
I've had a stalker since 2007, several months after my fiance died of cancer. She even assumed my fiances identity and posted that I was complicit in her death. I could not get a restraining order for over a year. When I finally got one, it got tossed after a month or two over a mis-typed technicality supposedly. The court said the records are now incomplete, so I have no real explanation. My point, being, I never contacted her, once she started this bad behavior. Some stalkers just don't give up, even over 15 yrs later. I have countless ream of awful emails, phone messages, then recently in the mail. Even that was not anything the legal system would do anything about. The last thing I would do is go public to just piss her off, and I have more reason than Gadd. This also has a whiff of exploitation, but that sell I guess.

Im lowkey not down with the victim blaming going on. Just because he doesn’t see himself or call himself a victim doesn’t mean he isn’t. I have been in a similar situation and I didn’t think I was a victim till years later doing intense therapy. I thought at the time I led them on, or could have done more, and it was partly my fault. I now see that I was unconsciously trying to keep them happy for my own safety and I wasn’t strong enough to be stricter with boundaries or go to cops. He did nothing wrong; there is no right or wrong in this situation because different people react differently to traumatic events. I Hope he has help working through this psychologically and not pushing it down and pretending everything is ok.

I remember reading somewhere that they supposedly went to great lengths to disguise "Martha" and I think after seeing the "real" one that that was a lie. They look the same. They did the same shiz. They made it pretty easy to identify her and I feel bad for her in this situation.
I watched Piers earlier with a panel and this is what I learned.
Fiona is Martha. She was tracked down very easily by internet sleuths through her tweets to Richard especially about asking him to come and hang her curtains. So she did come forward for interviews on her own after that.
Fiona definitely doesn’t have a criminal record and Richard has said that in many interviews. It was resolved with a restraining order.
You covered her harassment of the Daily Mail reporter. Fiona certainly shows a pattern of behaviour if you cross her.
The emails go from 1-2 then later “a handful, maybe 10,” then the meetings 2-3 then later 5-6. She minimises everything she does.
Since Richard has been forthcoming about her not being convicted of any crime in many interviews, I believe him. I’m sure he can back it up because the numbers of emails, tweets and letters are all odd amounts to make up.
Whereas Fiona is showing still a pattern of behaviour still when she didn’t like what was written about her by the Daily Mail’s reporter.
I feel sorry for her. I also feel for Richard. He didn’t paint himself in a favourable light in the series. Did he feel sorry for her? Yes, I believe he did and kept her around to make himself feel better until he realised she was unstable and he’d contributed to her fixating on him. I’m not victim blaming, he admits that in the series. Nobody deserves to be stalked. It’s dangerous.
Rabbit, you picked up on a point nobody else has and they had a big panel on Piers Uncensored today. That is that she is still keeping tabs on him. Apparently she’d even made a positive tweet about the play! I just remembered that. Top video my favourite fluffy friend. 🐰❤
I think that this is about an obsessive personality meeting a narcissistic personality. Like, I think they both are in the wrong. He used her for attention, and she obsessed over him. They both need therapy.

She is not normal regardless if she is innocent or not. For that, I feel bad for her seeing the world take the piss on her. That said, if what he says is true, what she did to him was not okay either.

As for her name Harvey is her Father's name, she dropped it after her parent's divorce and went by Fiona Muir. She never said it was her maiden name it's her Mother's maiden name.

@kirshens There is a difference between saying " it wasn't me" and " I didn't do it" . I watched a but of the interview and I feel the same way, it's confusing.
Her lawyer must have some sort of proof that puts Netflix on blast. Otherwise, the lawyer wouldn’t waste his time. She has to be careful on how she words things as well. I can tell they may have used her image and likeness but maybe not her words. Creators will use multiple people create the same situation to throw off the law. Then use more actors to create news. They aren’t slick.

Aside from the obvious peril of taking this on, Gadd could most likely countersue for stalking, harassment and damages caused over more than three years. He'll have the receipts for sure. She'd be toast.

The show is a dramatized story BASED ON real events. She is not doing herself any favors by continuing to lie and constantly changing her story; I truly believe if she told the truth and said what was real and what wasn’t people would respect her more. I do think she stalked and harassed him, but I also think they exaggerated the facts for dramatic effect. They took real events (tweets, calls, texts, emails, general creepy behavior) and hyperbolically portrayed them.
She clearly needs psychological help to understand and overcome the reasons WHY she stalks and (imo) pathologically lies. She needs help, not to be paraded on tv

Google every movie or show that says it's a true story. They're all still dramatized. The lady came forward. She just can't help herself.

It does say it's a dramatisation at the end. But at the beginning, the character Donny says it's a true story. It's misleading, but in context of the CHARACTER saying it's true, doesn't make it true. If that makes sense.
Piers says the messages is confirmed, Netflix said that that part is true. So I actually think she sent so many messages. I think you are right that he maybe didn’t know what he was doing. He said he felt sorry for her 🤷🏼♀️. Then she also harassed other people in the same way before. But yes they have definitely dramatized some scenes for the show. This I one of the most craziest stories I have heard about. I mean will she go after Piers now😳I also think she really needs help. This is a mess and so hard to unravel. I lean towards believing Richard over Fiona. If he wrote the drama from pure imagination, I think he would have portrayed himself much more favorably in the drama. His character in the drama was extremely flawed. There are so many contradictions in the interview with Piers that makes me question her version.
I feel like she has some serious mental health issues and has done damage doxxing herself and with this interview.

I’ve been very intrigued with this story. But the fact people feel they need to attack and harass her wasn’t the point of this series. It was about his experience, his lack of boundaries, her lack of boundaries, i don’t think the interview helped her too well, but showing a human to this story could had been important. But for whatever reason it makes people think it’s a green light to harass her. When he was sharing how he was scared, and now all these people are doing the same, prob worse, to her. I find this situation and story and writing so interesting. I’m sure we’ve all been on either side of this situation. I’ve def been scared of someone obsessed with me. But i took different steps. But i sought and followed legal assistance.
From someone who hasn’t even watched it yet.
I find it easier to believe she sent 4,000 emails and much harder to believe she is an actual lawyer.
They both sound fairly twisted to me.
Just hope I still enjoy the show as much as everyone else seemed to.

I believe you're all doing an excellent job at exposing corruption & sharing your findings. I very much appreciate all of your time, energy & hard work.
"Baby Reindeer" is an excellent story, which needed to be told.
"Based on/inspired by" a true story is the standard disclaimer for artistic license in film & television. I did make an assumption this was common knowledge.
I believe "Martha" should have remained mum & would not have garnered as much attention for long.
Often, no response is the best response.
Unfortunately, she's outed herself. I do dedect untruths in her interviews, print & otherwise.
Though it is much harder to keep one's anonymity these days, privatizing one's socials & not doing interviews would be a wise move, IMO.
I hope the importance of the series' topics are the main takeaway while "Martha" & Mr. Gadd move forward with their desired lives.

I try to focus on the best from any artform, in this series, the complicated, thoughts, feelings, actions & reactions of Donny were truthful, to me, in its delivery. The subjects of stalking & sexual abuse of a male in society were also conveyed raw & beautifully. Not to mention the outstanding performances. Those are the issues I chose to focus on.
I've never read a book or watched a film/series without embellishments, fabrication etc.
I still believe that "Martha" publicly confirming & denying the character created a great deal more of a circus & distraction whilst shining an "unwanted" spotlight on herself.
People are fascinatingly peculiar (myself included) & sometimes we're fortunate enough to be educated & entertained by their "true stories."
How we as a society react is our responsibility. It seems far too many people sought "Martha" out & that's beyond my comprehension.
I do hope that the series continues to open eyes & minds & anyone who committed sexual abuse is gifted large dose of karma. It does always come around & generally, not through the legal system.
But what do I know? I'm just a middle-aged, woman with a desire for peace & happiness in a world that is all too chaotic & broken.

Not a Piers fan but here he did great with his questions!! This woman enjoys being in his show and she doesn‘t seem to be enraged from „false allegations/accusations“. Uum no lady, I don‘t believe you! Why not just sue and be out of it? Why does she even go on a show?! I wouldn‘t if I was innocent and accused of the same crimes!

Richard may have embellished parts of the show for entertainment purposes, but it’s pretty clear Fiona is full of lies. Just the way she started out the interview with there was no contact to-maybe there were 10 emails to-ok, maybe there were more emails but there weren’t as many as the show said, etc etc etc…and the entire interview went like that with nearly every question he asked her.

This is very frustrating 😅. This woman was never charged or convicted of stalking. But because we get all of our info from television- people are analyzing her interview from the perspective or a viewer or baby reindeer. There are characteristics that she shares with Martha, that the author was pointing to her. That’s causing her issues in her community. She admitted to speaking about a baby rein deer. When the male abuser was accused, the author cleared it up. When she’s being accused, now everyone is gaslighting her. “How do you know it’s you if it isn’t true”. 🙄

Could he have exaggerated and added things that didn’t happen?? Absolutely! But I believe he did tell some truth. He also has shown no proof any of this has happened.

These documentaries can't be trusted. Remember that whole tiger king bs during the pandemic? It had people siding with a big cat breeder over a big cat rescuer and made it seemed like she was a murderer because her husband ran off with another woman in south America.

Name change that consists of dropping one parent’s name after parental divorce is a good way to tell that parent how you feel about him or her.
You asked about changing a last name after a divorce as an adult and I know 4 people who did this as young adults… (all for a VERY specific reason that does not apply in this situation)… which is they came out as gay/queer/trans and received harsh judgments (or worse) from the parent whose name they had. That’s the reason I am aware of to change your last name as an adult to a different family name.
If something is "based" on a true story, that means there will be dramatizations and won't be ver batim. "The Exorcist" didn't even keep the same gender and I'm willing to bet "Roland Doe's" head never even really spun!

I think that he did base the story mostly on his experiences with her. I think that there may be some exaggeration and some fabrication to make the script more sellable. I think she may have a case to sue because it did state at the beginning "This is a true story." If he has said it was "based" on a true story or actual events that would leave room for artistic license, I don't think she would have a case.

To start with this is a true story at the beginning of a series and then have a whole fantasy court scene in which the woman receives a conviction is not only unwise but possibly defamatory. A large number of u tube channels are putting out everything in this series as fact without doing any research.If an entire pivotal scene is a total fabrication how much more is untrue. Trial and conviction by Netflix shouldn't be a real thing
I think it's half truths, half lies. Not everything is going to be all factual. But I still think Fiona needs help.

How do we know he didn't just use her as a character for his story, using her previous history and made it about himself? Everything he says may be true but what if it isn't? The truth is nobody knows, someone needs for find out because this woman is being judged based on a one sided story and she is not mentally competent to give her side and anything she said in that interview should be taken with a pinch of salt. Even though she denies it, she watched the show and She said nothing in that interview that the rest of us didn't already know.

In the show he didn't give her his number, but later she discovered it online. I don't remember the details, but I think it had something to do with his role as a comedian. I don't know if he put it out for people wanting to contact him or if somebody did it to harass him. And that's where she supposedly got it..

As an adult my son did change his last name to my maiden name as a tribute to my father who was nearing death. My sons father was never a part of his life, and my dad filled that father figure role. My brothers all had girls and our family name would have not passed on, so my son decided to legally change his last name in honor of his grandfather. He went on to have two sons and a daughter, so he did keep our name going through the generations.

Most times when movies are true, they say in the beginning “based” on a true story. This one simply said “this is a true story”.

I think he based his movie on the truth and dramatized for viewers entertainment and I think he portrayed himself genuinely so why wouldn't he do the same with "Martha's" character BOTTOM LINE
I’ve never heard him claim this was total truth. Any time I’ve seen him interviewed, he always has said that they added things to make the story more cohesive. The basic story is true.

I watched this series TWICE. Before all this came out I thought it was a very good look at the male perspective of being groomed and SAd by the “Hollywood” type than experiencing being the “victim” from not only another male but than a female. All seemly to be a first hand experience.

Nobody gets that sending 41,000 emails is not illegal. However, the other things he portrayed such as her saing him and going to jail would be far more damaging to her reputation and she may have grounds for legal action if he can't prove those 2 instances did happen.

He was a failed comedian but seems to be quite a good actor. He obvs cant make a career in comedy but sure as hell can embellish a dodgy few personal past emcounters! Tbh after watching the series both are damaged, but he clearly needs a lot more help than her. He loved playing the victim.

Watching the series and then watching her interview IMO I think he over exaggerated a lot of it to make the series more dramatic BUT her interview freaked me out she acted and spoke EXACTLY like the character Martha,it was scary !! I think she lied a lot in her interview but obviously we’ll never know the 100% truth ! She said she’s going to sue him and Netflix so maybe then we’ll get more accurate information !
