Don't forget the system of boosters and coaching salaries that ended up requiring NILs. Scholarships aren't scholarships anymore and haven't been for many years. Plus, students are not covered by the schools for medical, and if an athlete's scholarship is tied to their playing time and they get a season ending injury? Poof.
I can not get mad about opting out because if you're not playing for the championship, then you can risk injury playing. Football is a collision sport. The unlimited transfer portal is definitely a problem. Like that old NCAA commercial slogan, "most will go pro in something other than sports". If you're a college athlete and you are transferring every year your chances of going pro or getting a degree can't be good. One free transfer then you sit a year if you do it again if you are an undergraduate.
3 transfers max is the best solution. Need to put a limit on it for sure

No. They use opinions to pick who can win titles. That's ruined things. Nil has nothing to do with that part. ESPN wanted higher ratings. Since fsu and Georgia have big followings they still got good ratings for that game

Now that money is involved more than ever it has changed the game and players in college football should be required to commit to the games just as they are required to commit to the curriculum and classes needed to graduate with a degree from college. If by chance a player were to suffer a possible career ending injury in college then that's just part of the risk involved with playing a sport like football. It's not like they would be leaving college without a way to make a decent living since they do end up with a freaking degree from college. It would be a shame to see someone suffer an injury that cost them a good chance at millions in the nfl but it wouldn't be like it was the end of their ability to do well in life. Nick Saban warned them about the things that could happen from the inclusion of nil and some of the other majorly influential changes that have come about in the last few year's. Looks like we are beginning to see a much darker side to it all now. It is here to stay but just because a player would be expected to finish out his commitment to the college team he chose doesn't make a rule like that wrong for potential future salaries lost when a degree does most likely help them in a worse case scenario and the players notoriety is a big help as well. They all should have to play in every game including bowl games no exceptions and especially since the nil began with many players being compensated financially even before the possible nfl salary.
I bailed on pro football years ago and took up college football. Now it looks like I'll have my Saturdays and Sundays back after I bail on college football.
There's no reason for me to stay at home or see a game in person on Saturdays It's time to define a better use for my time like maybe going fishing, maybe have friends over for barbecue and leave the TV off, or maybe start taking road trips on the weekends and visit places in my state that I either haven't been before or haven't gone to in a long time.

Some players are also academic transfers and have to go through early enrollment by the start of the spring semester which is why they have to transfer by this week.

Yes, I believe FSU had a case for being left out of the playoffs. Unbeaten Power 5 champion. However they did a miserable job of presenting their case. Committee was proven right.
Boy he was right coming from an FSU fan. This is the beginning of our downfall. It’s strange though I feel like we had a downfall not too long ago. When was that 2017? Oh well I guess we’re gonna have another one. We had finally climbed to the top and immediately got knocked down. Just disappointing. I’m sorry for our coaches and I’m sorry for our players. Not so much the fan base. We knew we were gonna lose but didn’t think it would be that bad. College football has been ruined. It’s all about money now. With that being said we still went 13-1. Maybe if they would have put Georgia in the playoffs this would not be a decision because we all know Georgia was one of the best 4 team even though they lost one game. Georgia has gone undefeated in the regular season for 3 years and in the last 4 seasons have gone 50-4 and won back to back national championships then they lose one game and get kicked all the way down to number 6 and out the playoffs. But to not be blabbering that just say a bunch of words to try to impress and show off to other people or to impress. This does not mean long prayers are bad always pray out of the heart. Have Bowl games at the beginning of the season instead of the end of the season. Don't have the transfer portal open during Bowl season. Players can transfer after the season is over. Only Bowl games should be for teams that didn't qualify for the playoffs series.

This clip is an example, Georgia had 20+ players opt-out as well. Instead, making the point about only FSU’s Roster shows that he isn’t paying attention. He’s a good guy so have the courage to do the right thing by him.
I agree the Transfer Portal has ruined college football. After enough people lose interest and stop supporting college football they will change it. Players wont play they're best if they know they are leaving thats the same as throwing games. Howcan a fan get behind that? Its hard to support a team when the players change every year. Its takes the conversation away from the fans about how your team will do next year or how a player will do because you don't know if that player will be there to play or not. It really sucks..The "committee" needs to go back and put limits on it. The portal needs rules. Players must cite why they need to transfer. And either bring in a third party to approve or deny transfers. That's the only way you'll bring any normalcy back to college football.
Corso said Texas was scared of playing TCU that is why Texas opposed letting them into the Big 12. Everyone in football knows that a large university must fund all student athletics including women at great cost and football tickets go far in doing that. Also TCU has a small fan base of around 45,000, which oil too small for Texas to go and play regularly. The SEC will help that aspect of Texas's football.
I agree that ESPN should be ashamed of themselves. The team will try but I also think it was done to embarrass FSU. But I told my son to do your best and as a team work together. In the end, I hope the lawsuits prevail.
