    It takes REAL skill to compose an interesting piece on top of a 12 second single-instrument loop. Seriously, the person/people who worked on this are incredibly talented. Jazz is already a difficult genre to learn and compose, and this was done wonderfully. This version is one of my favorite pieces in the game.
    Fantastic arrangement!

    • @PianistTanooki
      @PianistTanooki Před 3 lety +41

      It wasn't "people," it was a person, and it was the original composer himself, Koji Kondo, who arranged this. Kondo was the main composer and sound director of the original Super Mario Maker (first time he had such a role in over a decade), and was responsible for most, if not, all the arrangements and sounds for Super Mario Maker.
      He returned as Sound Director for Super Mario Maker 2 and even wrote all the additional tracks for the new course themes in the older game styles.

      Andrew J it wasnt that hard he had the base of the song already done (the original underground theme) which usually is the hardest part to compose

      @@PianistTanooki And also Kondo is the composer for all mainline Super Mario games.

    • @PianistTanooki
      @PianistTanooki Před 2 lety +9

      @@NBeeMC Somehow I just saw this.
      That's partially true. Kondo *WAS* the main composer for all mainline Super Mario games, but he has since taken a backseat starting with New Super Mario Bros. on the DS, where he only contributed the main theme. Super Mario Maker was the first time he was assigned as the "main composer" for a game since Super Mario Sunshine (and even with Sunshine, he only wrote about half the soundtrack).
      Yes, he's credited in all mainline games like both Galaxy games and Super Mario 3D World, but he only contributed a handful of compositions for these games.
      He contributed a bit more for Super Mario Odyssey (14 tracks). But even so, of the three composers involved with Odyssey, he was the one who contributed the least.

      Sadly, actually playing the level (not in the editor) means you don’t get any music at all, but if you remove the glitched invisible moon, you can save the level and keep the “night” theme WITHOUT the level data corrupt error. Just FYI a little glitch lore 😉

      @@eusticom5821 I get that, but it doesn't even sound like the theme anymore. If you didn't tell me it was Underground I'd probably think it was a bad cover of Cinco de Chocobo. The PiT version fits the same vibe while also actually being recognizable, hence it being my first suggestion.
