Actually Nintendo added DVD functionality but they realized that they needed to buy licenses for each Wii. They just shut it off, and with homebrew, you can watch dvds

DVDs were originally gonna be playable on the Wii. According to TCRF, a DVD disc even appears in the Disc Channel. You don't see it ? It's invisible.
You can homebrew your wii to play dvd's, idk why you would considering it displays 480p

I'm a bit biased towards mario kart wii because it was probably one of the first video games i played. My parents are really old and thought it was somehow detrimental to me so they didn't let me touch anything till i was 10. However, with zelda i have only played through the console games in the last 3 years so i can look at them objectively.

0:41 the 360 didn’t originally come with hdmi at all when it launched, only component. Later models didn’t add hdmi until later in like 2008 I believe. Although I get the complaint, hd TVs and hdmi weren’t standard when it released so why would they include an hdmi port on the original model.

That elastic shell thing is the Wii Remote Jacket. Even though it calls itself a jacket, it's just a protective case. Use it with the wrist strap, and you'll be golden!

I honestly found it triggering at times when the disc drive would mess up. I tried playing Paper Mario the Thousand Year Door on it and after awhile it just wouldn't read my GameCube discs very well it would stall and it was so annoying
