The recall is not necessarily that 400,000 trucks need fixing. It's a voluntary inspection. They will inspect it, if it needs fixing they will fix it. I don't really think this is a big deal.
Accurate and agreed 👍
Yep, got the same recall. I'm not upset about it. Toyota's not perfect but they are fair better than most others in the grand scheme of things. I am glad they at least have been transparent about it and not try to hide it. They'll at least look at it and fix it if required. Definitely does not change my mind about our "bullet proof" Tacos! Cheers!
Thanks for your insightful comment! Happy it seems to be a relatively minor recall. Cheers!
When I bought my 03 tacoma, there was a recall on the ball joints. It didn’t freak me out much, cars sometimes have manufacturer issues. They replaced them and it was fine. That’s the only recall I ever got for that truck. I owned it for 20 years and put 300,000 miles on it, with no other issues. So when I heard about the recent recall on my 22 sport 4x4, it didn’t bother me much. It’s a lot less of an issue than ball joints. I’ll take it in and deal with it. It’s a minor hassle. It doesn’t change my opinion on Toyotas reliability.
Right. Once they fix it. If there is a problem, truck should be good for a long time.
Your assumption of it happening "way down the line" is wrong. If you read the recall, it's weld splatter that reduces the contact area between surfaces when bolts are tightened. The connections might loosen up or they might not. However, depending on the amount of splatter and how much use the truck gets, it could loosen up at any time.
Thanks for the tip!
2023 Magnetic Gray SR5 recalled for splatter on the nuts....LOL
😂😂😂
I didn't get one yet on my 23 in south Texas. Thanks for the heads up.
You’re likely in the clear, congrats 👏
Thanks for the heads up! As an old guy, I've had recalls on everything I've owned since the 80's. Before Ralph Nader's "unsafe at Any Speed" was published, auto makers simply let "events" happen with actuaried determining the the "cost" of the death and injuries as their primary concern. All my Toyotas had recalls...the latest a 2013 Venza which we loved and helped solidify our devotion to Toyota. I own the 2023 double cab Premium with everything on it in LUNAR ROCK! Thanks again for the "news". Upper Midwest purchase in April 23...no notice yet. I don't have the app...so it will come by mail as usual.
Great truck choice sir! Thanks for the context.
Subbed! Ya I truly believe that the quality is diminishing a bit and prices are going up! I’d love a Tacoma but I’m not spending $60+
Thanks so much for the support! Agreed.
My 2023 Limited also recalled.1800 miles got it in October.
Sorry to hear!
That's one reason I will keep my 2004 toyota sequoia with 300k miles and my 1999 toyota 4runner with 255k miles ♥️
Smart!
The answer is yes, without a doubt. Old Toyotas are solid. 24 Tacomas are already breaking. The quality just isn’t the same
The 24 Tacoma worries me, agreed
Seriously! Thank you for your honesty
I got my notice today not too concerned about it i feel you are making a mountain out of a molehill. Toyota showed integrity by coming from their side & not keeping quiet about hoping it would go unnoticed. Showed honesty & class in my view😊
Fair point Eric!
At lease you got 8 moths with it 😭 I got like 8 days with my 24’
Man so brutal! Any ETA for when you’ll get it back?
What’s up with 2024 Tacoma?
Bought my 23 trd off road with 5 miles on it now its at 12k now had it for a year this is honestly not abig deal i even checked my bolts to see if they became loose
Agreed
My phone is so old I cant get the Tacoma App, but ill look for recall notices for my 2023 trail edition in the mail. Am I worried about Toyota build reliability? Not really. My 2015 Subaru crosstrek needed a camshaft replacement after just 10 months old, made in Japan I also got extended warranty just in case.
Gotta respect the commitment to the old phones 👏
I am 3 months in. But better safe than sorry. I got new 2023 Tacoma Trail Edition myself. It is in my Toyota App. Shows up in Red.
Safe than sorry indeed!
I also inquired about my 23 TRD Off Road from the dealership but they said they don’t have the full information but I’ll will get something in the mail
Hopefully a quick easy fix!
No big deal (the recall). The fact that we have these recalls now does not mean reliability has changed. It is just back then we didn't have the recalls we have now. It is a different world ( born in the 60's!). I'll take it to the dealer when they give me the call. Thanks.
Appreciate your take!
same i got one and i just got mine in December
Ahhhh sorry to hear that after just getting it!
Just got one too at 2023 trd pro. Nervous bro
Congrats on the Pro!
World famous Toyota reliability!!! 😂
😅
Didn’t the Taco have weld issues with the child safety seat latch previously? I would say it could be a QC issue based on location. How many issues out of the Mexico plant vs US vs Japan. QC should be QC regardless of location given it is Toyota but I’d put my money on Japan for less issues getting by.
I would love to see the data on that, it is something i’ve been wondering myself. Can’t beat the vehicles coming out of Japan.
This is a perfect example of why Toyotas built outside of Japan are just a crappy as a Chrysler. US workers simply don’t have the manufacturing discipline to do good work. Simple as that.
Miss the Japan Toyota’s!
@@TRDTalk The 4runners are still made in Japan.
1:36 to hear the problem and skip alot of fluff.
Honestly thanks I gotta say I was fluffing a bit more than usual on this one 😂
Have had my 2023 Ford Ranger XLT, also for eight months. Tires are 255 65 17R, discovered the spare is 255 70 16R. Guess I am "lucky", given state of vehicle products.
Congrats on the ranger!
Bought my 2023 Taco 2 months ago and just saw the recall notice.
Every vehicle I've bought has had some type of a recall. To me this is actually just normal and part of the fun of owning a vehicle.
I'd be more discouraged about this recall if it had something to do with the transmission or the engine like the new Tundras.
I'm expecting to see lots of recalls on the new 2024 tacos with the 4 cylinder turbocharged engine.
Agreed! Very happy to have a V6 in our truck. Thanks for watching.
You should just buy the new Tacoma to avoid any issues the 3rd gen have 😅
Hard pass lol
Some how I got lucky lol no recall for me
Rob! How are things? Just curious, still thinking about selling the Tacoma? I know you mentioned on one of your videos you were thinking it over.
@@TRDTalk Doing well thanks! Honestly, my dad wanted to buy it. But he doesn't anymore so it is staying with me lol. I didn't mind selling it to him, because if I needed to borrow it then I would be able to. But I don't want to sell it to a stranger, it is too useful to have a truck around!
@@RobsAutos love to hear that you are keeping it! Agreed.
Made in Mexico that why no quality control
Not Japan that’s for sure!
NOOOO this hit me NOOOOO!!!! however, Toyota is #1. glad they at least care about their consumers. majority of other company's probably would not acknowledge this to save money. that's not an understatement its literally someone's job to make the decision 1. let this incident happen more and save money or 2. recall and SAVE the consumers life. Its sad knowing this fact. but, i don't make the rules.
Agreed brother! Thanks for your input.
If yours got recalled does this mean you will die?
50/50
I have a 23 Tacoma... I checked the 8 nuts in question during a tire rotation. It's all tight, easy check. No big deal.
Great news!
What are you complaining about? Every automaker has recalls from time to time.
VW recalled over 8 Million vehicles, Ford has recalled over 4 Million vehicles, Chevy has recalled over 6 Million vehicles.
Geez, Toyota, by far is still the most reliable and durable midsize pickup on earth, so STOP complaining.
I’m waiting for my recall letter for my 23 TRD Off Road double cab 6’ bed.
Just call your dealership and make an appointment to get it fixed.
Once it’s been repaired drive your Tacoma for another 300K+ miles.
I swear, some people would complain if they were hanged with a new rope… 😅
Video is way too long for what it delivers.
Thanks for the feedback Marcus!
WTF is a Tieota? Never heard Toyota pronounced without the first o. It sounds ridiculous.
😂😂😂
He's Canadian.
