- 5hp air cooled Yamaha 5bs. Such a simple design being air cooled. Very little maintenance needed as there is no water pump impeller or cooling jackets. I was very impressed with the performance and also it was smooth and pretty quiet.
Was tested on an 11ft aluminum boat. - Krátké a kreslené filmy
Just what I wanted to see.. I’ve just bought a RIB and this exact outboard on a trailer in the uk for £300.. the engine is in very good condition too.. thank you for the vide🚤🚤🚤🚤🚤🚤
No problem,
Have fun with it mate.
Cheers
yamaha are brilliant as always
Thanx bloke! I'm just looking at buying one now!
Too easy mate.
Hope you find one, they are pretty rare.
Cheers 🍻

Perfect motor for running in the shallow water swamps here in south Louisiana
That runs like a 9.9hp, well almost, real strong power there. Far-out over 24kph max
Hi mate,
Yeah I was surprised at how well it went, such a simple motor too.
Cheers 🍻

Thanks I have one as a back up for my boat. Only complaint it’s quite noisy-any advice
Hi mate,
Yeah, they are a bit loud, not much can be done unfortunately.
Cheers 🍻

Awesome! We dont see a lot of air cooled engine here! That's sweet, 166 subs! We've got the same amount Haha I gave you another sub and a like! Keep up the great work, that thing runs great for how old it is :)
No way born boating again! Two fav CZcamsrs 😂
Buena tardes que hélice tiene ?
how long and how heavy is the boat?
I have an aluminum boat 3.90 meters × 140 meters and it is about 80 -90 kilo heavy.
Hi mate,
The boat is 11ft (3.3m) and 1.3m wide. It weighs about 45kgs and I am 80kgs.
Cheers,
Glenno
The Aussie boat guy. Hey mate what boat is that? Thank you
Please please please help. I just bought one of theese. It worked for an hour... Now the rope you pull to start it wont go back in.. can you do a video on how to fix? And it died like 4 Times before it hallens.
Before it happend.
Hi there, I no longer have one of these. Sounds like the recoil spring may have broken, you will have to pull it off and see what has happened on the inside. There should be CZcams on outboard recoil starters.
Also the motor might need a carburetor overhaul or may have a spark issue if it keeps dying.
Should all be pretty simple, those are about as simple as an outboard gets.
Sorry I can’t do a vid on the recoil, I just don’t have one.
Good luck, I was pretty impressed with the one o had.
i have one of these..any advice in regards what to do to keep it maintained, other than bringing if fo a spin every now and again??
Hi mate,
Yeah, I would run it every few months to keep the fuel running through the carburetor. I would make sure the fuel does not go stale. Also do a gear oil change every year or at least make sure it is full of appropriate gear oil with no leaks (would be hard to find a gear case for one)
Pretty simple little motors, even if the fuel went stale in the carb, a quick carburetor overhaul and it would be sweet again.
Cheers

Thanks very much for the reply, i was told the mix for my one is 50:1..
i’ve other Yamahas 2 strokes and the mix is 100:1 on these but they’re water cooled.
The ethanol mix in unleaded petrol here is to be increased to 10% in April/May 2023 here in Ireland.
So i’ll be introducing a fuel stabiliser to all my outboard tanks from then on.
Do you think the 50:1 2 stroke ratio is correct, i think my BS is 1978 , i got it for free and it wasn’t working, a guy from Lithuania living here who’s a bit of genius with older outboards got mine going and he advised me that the mix is 50:1 as it’s air cooled and therefore needs a higher oil content in the fuel mix.

Too easy mate 👌
Yep 50 to 1

In what unit is the speed measured? Kmh or knots?
Kph, cheers,

Oi
Hey! I got a question, what does the engine weight?
Hi mate,
from memory it was around the 25kg mark.
cheers 🍻
Aussie Boat Guy 😎
what is the size of the propeller?
Not sure on the pitch or size, I’ve sold this motor.
Cheers
Pretty fast!
Yamaha never sold this model in the USA but it appears identical to the Mariner 5M--made by Yamaha in the same years.
Just another make/model to help find parts.
Hi Mate,
Thanks for your input 👌 I thought I saw some Mariner outboards that looked very similar.
Cheers 🍻

Hii. I want to buy 3.5 hp air cooled yamaha. I have 2.30 cm boat. 25 kg and ım 80 kg. What do you think? Maximum speed?
Hi Mate,
Yeah, good little motored too, not enough power to get up on the plane though unfortunately.
I reckon you might see 17kph if your lucky, keep me posted.
cheers 🍻

Hello, what oil ration you use? 🙏🏻
1:100 or 1:50 ?
Hi Mate,
I use 50 to 1 so every 5 liters of fuel I use 100mm of oil.
healthier for the motor, I don’t love 100 to 1.
in racing sometimes we use up to 25 to 1.
cheers 🍻
Aussie Boat Guy 😎
how can you tell if it is air cooled??
well, look on the bottom, you will see the cylinder head and there is no water pump anywhere
Здравствуйте,какой винт у вас стоит?Я имею ввиду родной или нет,и какой шаг винта? спасибо.!!
Hi,
I’m not sure on the propeller pitch, it was the standard one that came with the motor.
Thanks
А если ехать вдвоем на этой лодке,то какая скорость?
Привет, к сожалению, я не проверил это перед продажей двигателя.
Спасибо
Bro on a metal tinny and stuff in the boat are you sure its 5hp more 5+5 = 10hp or it has a secret turbo somewhere?????? If that's a 5hp it pretty good.
Hi mate,
Yep only a stock 5hp outboard.
Goes pretty well 👍
@@25hpboatracerman Hi from Scotland. I’m trying to get new points and condenser for my 5BS . It has 661 S 01095 on the identification plate. The stator plate has a Mitsubishi logo on it. Do you have any part numbers so I can try and source some ?
Thanks. It’s possible the magneto coil is faulty but I suspect the condenser.
Hi mate,
unfortunately I sold the awesome little motor so I don’t have any part numbers etc.
sorry I could not be more helpful, I hope you find the parts 👌 they will be out there.
cheers 🍻
@@25hpboatracerman Thanks for getting back to me. After a lot of searching I found a manual download which included all part numbers. I put the points and condenser numbers into eBay and obtained success. The prices were ridiculously high compared to small motorbike prices. Anyway a flywheel extractor I made , worked, so progressing slowly.
Quanto è datato?
Hi, from memory it was from the 70s or 80s
cheers 🍻
