Should I upgrade from a 3080 ti to a 4070 ti? Spoiler Alert - Yes

- Don't believe all the negativity about the 4070 ti. In this review I compare a 4070 ti to the 3080 ti on cost, performance, noise and heat. I made measurements on the 4070 ti of performance, temperature and noise level, but I didn't take measurements with my 3080 ti before I sold it, so you can make your own measurements with your card and compare them to mine if your trying to decide if an upgrade is worth it. For me it was a cost effective upgrade because I play flight sim and wanted consistent 60 fps in 4k ultra.
I wish you had the 3080ti so you could do comparisons in the edits so u could switch back and forth and show the difference.
Yeah, me too. I was so anxious to install the new card that didn't think to measure the old one it. Maybe someone with a 3080 ti can chime in with their measurements.
I’d be interested to see some more tests. The 4070ti has a 192 bit bus compared to the 384 bit bus on the 3080ti. A lot of people are saying you might get bottle necked at 4K in some games because they dropped the bus width so hard.
Is flight sim running at 4K?
Are you using dlss 3?
Either way for the games you play looks like a good upgrade. Quieter cooler and better performance for no cost. Seems like a win.
So you watched my video eh? Yes, I run 4k Ultra settings. I initially hesitated because the bus is narrower than my 3080 ti and I read about the potential bottleneck too. Because of that I only expected a marginal performance increase. I have been presently surprised at the increase in performance. It is substantial. Because it runs so cool I overclocked it mildly and it is still cool running. I haven't had any bottle neck issues. I am running dlss3, but I turned frame generation off and on for the video to show the difference. Even without frame generation I get plenty of frames. I only need 60 fps because that is my monitor limit. So far, very happy with the card. One note: I can still find scenarios in flight sim that will bring this card to its knees. Flight sim can be very demanding under complex circumstances. I flew a helicopter at street level through new york city and the card struggled.
I run Forza Horizon 5 at 4k and there is never an issue. Those are my only two games.
It's been a year, do you still think its better?
Absolutely. Cheaper, faster, quieter, cooler. Runs flight sim great. Only down side is the size. It is big!
Yeah no.
Benchmarks 17% better and costs $400 less. Plus it is quieter and runs cooler. Was is not to like?
