Never been to Cebu but watching your video I'm interest is visiting, but my main goal or desire is to relocate to my wife home town. I agree with you 200% here in the US is changing not for the better. I'm a Atlanta native and about 4 year from now I will retire and be ready to make that move. So I applaud you for doing what I dreaming of. You rock!
Wife and I made the mistake not purchasing globe mobile WiFi while we were at Manila airport. Once we arrived to Cebu every globe we stopped at were sold out. I’m subscribed to your channel because you have a great perspective on life in the Philippines. Keep up the great work.
I would never have seen that area and the mall without you giving us a tour and narrative. Thank you! The last time I was there in Cebu was in 1980 when I visited my aunt in Lahug. It was rather rural then, but looking at it now? Four big wows! Unbelievable progress. Cebu has left Davao behind. Before, it was neck and neck. Davao, although very very safe and peaceful, needs to look at Cebu, and how it sped up matters to bring it to international level. I am very impressed. Thank you Chris for this eye opener. Chris - really cool how you go the extra mile in your videos to provide the "pro-tips" on what you're discussing - like: how to find Globe in the mall, given that it is really hard to find; how to find JRC Visa and how they have been helpful with your visa requirements; the best entrance and exit points to the Ayala mall, and so on. Great stuff man!
What was interesting about this is the two ex-pats I met. They both had the exact same questions, as well as these are things I struggled with when I first got to the area.

Have you tried visiting the mountain restaurants and sites in Busay , vieu resto , lavie parissiene and top of busay it’s refreshing up there with the whole view of the city

I was there in Cebu in late February. Even the same hotel. I even walked to the Starbucks you passed by and had brunch in The Social 😄 Not sure if it's better, but forex in banks, particularly BDO, is typically 0.50% from the mid-market rate buy/sell for US dollars.

Heh new subscriber here. Just ran across your Vlog. First video I watched of yours kinda hit home. I actually grew up in Pampanga. 10 years anyway =) March of 2022 I had something called Cauda Equina Syndrome which caused some spinal cord damage. I had a plane ticket in hand when it happened so I missed my move =(. I've been laid up for the better part of a year and a half. Had last surgery in January 2023. Been depressed and miserable since then and just kinda gave up hope of ever getting back to Ph. Your videos have given me back some hope! If you think about it when doing your videos please try and film any wheelchair accessible stuff? Ramps, cutouts, a mention if you see someplace that's accessible. Thanks man, I'll buy ya a beer or few when I get there =)

I’m not an expert on budgets for the most the part but I think $1200 on the low side. I would try to make some cash online if you can to help subsidize the costs here
In the right area of the Philippines of course. You wouldn’t want to try that budget in the expensive areas but just outside those area with some extra income you’ll be just fine

It just doesn’t give you a ton of room for problems if/when they arise. If you could get an online gig making a couple of $ you’d be just fine
