  • Im cutting a montana sapphire in this video . This will be a small round cut stone , most montana sapphires are small ones. This stone came from the spokane bar mine.
    I sell finished jewelry in my etsy store : www.etsy.com/shop/Gemsbymbk?r...

    Beautiful, deep color in that piece, Brent. Thanks for sharing the RedWing lap... That's the first one I've ever seen. Thanks for sharing your work!!!

      Thanks john, That lap is really nice to use, such a time saver and less chance of mistakes by not having to reset the mast heights for different thickness laps.
      Im real careful to fully clean the stone between moving from 8k to the 60k ring.

    Love your channel!! Think you could try making a 20 sided dice out of gemstone? I'd love to see what that process looks like

      Hi, well most likely it isnt a facetable gem so that would leave cutting it as a cabochon and at that size it would be quite a job, Maybe you could have it sawn up into smaller sizes.

    Great video Brent!, may i ask did you get all of your dops directly from ultra tec?.

      @tennpikr74  Před 4 lety +1

      I got a set of graves non keyed dops with my machine but later bought the UT set. Actually i have bought a metal cutting lathe and have made some dops and im checking the accuracy of them now on a stone im cutting .

    Is faceters wax different from normal doping wax?
    That's a beautiful stone. Is this a Yugo or are all Sapphires from Montana called Yugo's?

    • @tennpikr74
      @tennpikr74  Před 4 lety +2

      Faceting wax is different from most cabbing wax, i think its stronger. Yogo gulch sapphires are from a a different area than this one , yogos are blue in color.

    I am working on corundum and Emeralds faceting. Can you guide me where online can I get exact faceting diagrams for corundum and Emeralds?

      @tennpikr74  Před 4 lety +1

      Thanks , yes, www. facetingdiagrams.org
      www.gemologyproject.com
      emerald RI is 1.58 , corundum is 1.76
      usually you can search on these sites for diagrams with those RIs and find them.
