Nikki Yanofsky is so criminally underrated yet so talented
Nikki is a phenomenon that you discover and re-discover year after year. Saw her twice live, she's got that energy on stage that leaves the audience totally hooked.
Nikki is WAAAAAY too strong a presence for this laid back group of musicians. This girl is so talented and is about to break out big time!

I think that Quincy Jones fame and influence is actually holding Nikki back, artistically. I don't feel that Nikki has found her own voice yet, as good as it is. She has reached this level early in her career and now it is time for her to have the courage or wherewith to realize that in order to rise above all the other competent singers, she needs to establish something greater, if it is indeed in her. Time will tell.

I am not impressed by Nikki Yanofsky. I do not think her singing is all that good and her voice is way too nasal for my tastes. To me, she is nothing special.
Who is the backup singer in black and green on the left? She has a nice voice. I wonder if she also sings solo or if she only does backup?

@@SSGTA440 No, I don't eat sh%t. She's ok, but nothing special within the context of all the other jazz singers out there past and present. There are plenty of other people, who are potentially better, but don't get "made"by the industry.
@@manfredconnor3194 Interesting.....name a few...and how old are they? This was back in 2013, and as a teen, she had/has tremendous potential.
@S/SGen3/426 Well, we only know the famous ones don't we? From the past I'd pick Nina Simone. More modern would be Sade Adu , Silje Nergaard or perhaps Nora Jones as for the present time I couldn't say, but they are out there. There hundreds of incredible jazz singers that do not get "made" by the industry or are too smart to become famous. Corona has kept me in for a while so I haven't been to Montrose or Burghausen in a while. I am not saying that Nicki can't sing, I just don't like the way she sings. I am not impressed by the performances I have seen so far. Sorry, that this makes you angry.
@@manfredconnor3194 Nope, not angry...but judging a girl of this age is crap...give her some time..Sade a good singer? A stylist perhaps, but technically, no...range is limited as is power, sings from the throat, as most singers that are not formally trained do this......Nora Jones....again...similar in her limitations. If you want a technically great singer, listen to Sarah Brightman,...she can sing arias, but can also go to jazz or pop. She may be the exception to the rule, but that's what I mean by a technically good singer.. I know something about singing...my parents were involved in opera and my sister was singing light opera at 16..mainly stuff like Gilbert and Sullivan....had superb potential.
