You will notice the glove body is shaped with some slight curves. This helps with the comfort and fit. Add an optional cuff to add protection to the base of the thumb. You can adjust the width of the pattern by increasing the width of your seam or cutting the pattern piece outside the shaded outline. The seam allowance is built into the pattern piece.

I LOVE this video! I love the idea of Flipmits but I did not want to pay $30 for something I was quite sure I could make. Your cuff is exactly what Flipmits are ... fingerless gloves with a bit of fabric that can be "flipped" to provide warmth and protection to the fingers when needed. I just needed to see your video for the concept to make sense (Flipmits sales videos are not very revealing). Thank you!
My cuff does not flip over the fingers if that is what you mean but flip mitts! I will see about doing a flip style piece that covers the fingers later this year! Cheers, Tori
I need these so much. Our house is always perpetually cold in the winter because my health issues bar the use of any type of burning stove for heat and all my hobbies involve using my hands (Writing, painting, sewing, etc.). Often I'll have to stop to warm my hands up, and sometimes they just get so cold I can't work with them and have to do nothing but huddle under a blanket for warmth. I also have severe eczema on my hands and cold hands make it flare up even worse, which will also stop me from pursuing my hobbies. On top of that, I can't ever grip anything when I wear real gloves so if I'm outside in the cold, I end up just going without gloves and making my hands worse. THANK YOU for this! It will be my next project.

I can't wait to start making these tomorrow! We serve breakfast to the homeless in our area on a rotating basis with other groups. We've been giving out super simple beanies every winter, now I'm switching over to one of your hats. But these would be so so so appreciated. Great for winter presents to family, too!

Thank you Franki ... I have not made this glove for a small hand but you could try printing it at 95% of actual size, so select custom size on your printer panel and then 95%. That would give you an smaller size and if you need it smaller, keep reducing the percentage. 91% would likely be a young child in the 4 to 9 years of age range. Hope that helps. Tori
Can a wandwarmer get tucked into the cuff for extra warmth (for the Homeless) ?

How do you add the elastic to the finger area? Is there a video for this step? Thanks!
I would have to watch this video again but if I can recall, I show putting elastic in the larger opening where four fingers exit the glove. Just measure some elastic around that part of your hand and sew it down at the sides before turning over the end making a channel for the elastic. Careful not to sew over it as you ease it in while you are sewing down the hemming channel.

Quick question. The pattern says to cut the outer line of the grey shaded area if using 1/2” seam does that mean the non thumb side should also be sewn at 1/2”? If I cut on the black line I’d use 1/2” on thumb side and 3/8ths of the other?
Hi Emma! Cut the outline outside of the shaded area which is there to enlarge the pattern in order to help iincrease the seam width to 1/2". In this video I use my regular seam width of 3/8" and the black outline takes that smaller seam width into account. My digitizer adds that shade around the black line to increase size for a larger seam width. Anywhere you are sewing, add an 1/8" to the size if the shadow is not there aready to take into account your 1/2" seam. When I trace around my pattern pieces that I have made from heavy poster board, the 3/8" seam width is built in. Those the are shapes I give to my digitizer artist so I can share these pattern pieces with you and the rest of my sewing community on CZcams! He adds the shadow to sewn areas to help for a 1/2" or 125 mm seam width. Good luck and hope they work out for you.
