Welcome back!
Curious to know if posting earlier in the morning is the new thing. I know James you normally posted Noon my time now it was 8 am today. Don’t mind I can watch a new kill count with breakfast but my ass be sleeeepy 🫣😅
Me resisting the urge to picture shiny balls whenever you talk about manscaped
Here's a urban legend for ya James needs to remember to put dead meat comments on these kill counts just saying now let's get to the kills!
I always love James' kill counts because they always have that one line that will make me associate the movie with. In this case it is "Finally noticing that Paul is played by Jared Leto, Natalie and Brenda run for their lives"
From the original Scream 4 video, for me, it was, "Robbie looks weird 'cause he has a little headset-webcam-thing that he uses to livestream 24/7, and Charlie looks weird 'cause he's played by a Culkin."
@@LordMogatronpollol😅😅😊😊😊😊😊😊
I would run from Jared Leto too honestly
Imagine fanboying over a grown man who doesn’t even know you exist. 😂😂
@@haiz768 they aren’t fanboying they just said they like his videos lol??
“Finally noticing that Paul is played by Jared Leto, they run for their lives”
lmao James this killed me 😂
Killer you, I see what you did there 😂😂🤣😆😆😆
Ong i couldnt stop laughing🤣🤣
Second time Jared appeared as a Paul.
Actually first@@klownbeans This was before American Pyscho
The fact that Robert Englund and Brad Dourif were both in this is amazing, considering they’re the “profanity jokes” killers of what I call the big 6 of slashers. Jason can’t, Leatherface is too uneducated, Michael just doesn’t, Ghostface speaks but not a lot of jokes, and Freddy and Chucky make so many jokes that reference how they are killing
This movie should've been a collection of shorts based on urban legends. That format worked for trick or treat and would've definitely worked here
Maybe they didn't do it this way 'cause "Campfire Tales" had already done that a year before.
Maybe now that this and Campfire Tales have died down to my knowledge, if anyone decides to reboot this franchise, maybe we can get that, though I still feel like it'd be kinda neat for it to turn out that the urban legends had someone behind them or something? I'm admittedly not sure how it'd work, but just thinking of an almost Tales from the Hood-style thing of supposedly unrelated vignettes, only for there to be something common among them and a TftH-style twist at the end that at least brings some of it together (like the three gangsters actually being the ones who killed Crazy K, only for it to turn out they're also dead and the funeral director is actually Satan).
"Finally noticing that Paul is played by Jared Leto, Natalie and Brenda run for their lives."
Most real line ever...😅
Yes🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
At least it was Bad Joker, & not The Flash … *cough* *cough*
😂😂😂
@@Tw0Dots It's not just that. A bad performance is fine, but he is such an unlikable pretentious jerk as well as a creep in real life.
That is really a funny line. I did not know how much of a weirdo he was until this video. I am just weirded out about how he does not recognize or respect his performance in the movie and the movie as well. What a crazy herk thing to do.
That "SOMEONE'S IN THE BACK SEAT!!!" Was soo well done and haunting
Damn 5k likes
Agreed
Its one of the few lines permanently burned into my brain tbh
Yes! That’s seriously one of my favorite parts of the whole movie. He screamed it
The freaking opening is one of the best openings beside scream that set the movie tone for me
Oscar nominee brad douriff everyone
When I saw this movie for the first time as a kid I remember finding it ridiculous how many people owned that exact make and model of the winter coat so I'm glad you pointed it out. The "someone's in the back seat" and dog in the microwave scene have also stuck with me for years.
Then the parka coat comes in handy in 2012 horror movie: _ATM_
It's definitely something of a... I dunno if I'd call it a plot hole, necessarily, but it's super strange. I feel like it would've made more since, at least, if maybe if were a school parka? Like, it just came in that one color, had the school's insignia on it, that would at least explain the sheer number of them, even if not why so many people had them on hand outside of the winter months.
given how everyone nowadays is wearing the same canadian goose jacket, dont' think is that surprising at all.
The sadness I felt when James didn't mention that Julian Richings actually played Death in Supernatural was immense. He was such a wonderful Death!
he mentioned it in one of his kill counts for Wrong Turn
@@lumpyduckling3522 Did he? :0 I need to watch that one, thanks for telling me!

Robert still being menacing out of the Freddy makeup proves what a wonderful character actor he is

I think it helps that he’s also a respected stage actor and performer.
@@thedeepfriar745Funny story:
When I was in the first grade (1987) my classmates tried to tell me that I didn't "like" Robert until he played Freddie when I was a kid
Despite I was a huge "V" fan where he played "Wally " before he played Freddie even had a cabbage patch kid that looked like he did with glasses I named Wally after his character even told my friends in school this and they really kept trying to tell me I was lying 😂
Fun times
This is probably one of the funniest kill counts I’ve seen in a while. I really loved the “they finally notice that Paul is played by Jared Leto” and the Weird Al jokes
Because James has been gone for a while
As much as a like James and am happy to see Zoran (and his cringe) leave, James just fails to make this vid funny. Idk, maybe I just don’t like Dead Meat anymore.
@@rickym18thank god for that Zoran is mega cringe
Hey hey guys don’t hate on Zoran he’s cool :( what I said had nothing to do with who was hosting, in fact, I haven’t watched a kill count in a small while anyways. I just meant that this was exceptionally funny
@@Joey7Z7HorrorI wonder why you haven’t been watching the kill counts. (Definitely not because James wasn’t hosting them)
As a kid I didn’t realize how awesome it was to have Brad Dorif and Robert Englund in your horror movie 😮 🍿 🔥

Brad Dourif aint no slouch, mans a legend in my book
We missed you Mr. James! Don't get me wrong. I love Zoran and Chelsea but hearing "I'm James A. Janisse" is a different level of satisfaction and happiness.
It’s soothing isn’t it
its soooo true, his catch phrase is nostalgic
I'm here for James. His enthusiasm is honest and infectious.
You ain't lying 🙌🏻
Yep, something can never be changed
Sasha’s death was the mean spirited kill. Her character was such a bubbly goof that her extended chase is always such a downer when she dies.
Although wasn't seen, bet axe struck her in head and decapitated
Her death tragic and unfortunate like Helen's in "I Know...Last Summer"
I’ve been waiting for this to be covered and Brad Dourif’s small role was one of the most compelling horror performances I have ever seen.
He’s such a good actor!!!
I never knew he voiced chucky until I was older.
@@Queerbookwitch
I remember he played Wesley Snipes' Coworker in "Jungle Fever" and I did a double take when I saw him I screamed "That's Chucky!!"
He's such a versatile actor
The coolest thing about Urban Legend always was its awesome cast compost from actors who already were stars and those up and coming ones. To think we got Chucky, Freddy Krueger, Jamie Llyod, the DCU Joker, Smallville’s Lex Luthor, Vicky from American Pie, Three Finger from the OG Wrong Turn and Joey from Dawson’s Creek is insane
And also The Noxzema Girl
Don’t forget Paul Allan
@@TheNumbersGuy-bm6bthe was DCU Joker…unfortunately 😅
Also Peter from Fringe Division and Supernatural's Death!
I laugh they referenced Brenda looking like Rebecca Gayheart from the Noxzema commercials.
I love that the opening scene played homage to Scream even further by having the first victim played by the daughter of Natalie Wood and Robert Wagner. She may not be as recognizable as Drew but she’s still Hollywood royalty!
looking for this comment haha
A true homage would have seen her pushed off a boat.
@@DaviniaHillNot cool.
Definitely the silver medal of the Scream craze! Rebecca Gayheart was brilliant as a crazed, spurned lover…her villain role gets overlooked too much in the genre 🖤
I totally agree! She was perfect for the role and doesn’t get enough credit
I know right? I remember catching this movie on the cable horror channel, and I loved her heel turn scene. It’s so sad that people don’t mention her role more, it’s definitely a highlight of the movie for me.
Okay, I literally BURST out laughing at your "Week-END" joke. I love this movie and I am SO glad someone else finally acknowledged how funny that line is. Cracks me up very time. Hope you have a great week-END!!
It’s always a nice treat seeing Zoran and Chelsea doing kill counts, but I’m always gonna be happy seeing James back again.
Same! James is our horror cuddle buddy❤❤❤
@@shantellakaladypersephone8671 He's our sunshine amongst the gritty greyness of life
I honestly would love to see a more consistent split if the cast would ever be down for that. Like having 3 james kill counts, 1 zoran kill count, 1 chelsea kill count, repeat. It's just so much fun seeing everyone's style.
@7deuc2e38 Have you considered that you may just be more used to James?
I think they chose the PERFECT movies for both to cover, too.
I grew up reading "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark" and at this point I think these stories and legends are burned into everyone's brains, even if you've never directly heard them.
Agreed
God, I love those books
I do think at least 1 of the legends is very American, it's not a problem but it does mean that not everybody is familiar with it.
As a UK resident I had never heard of the High Beam Initiation.
I think he did a kill count of the movie a few years ago
Can you do the movie from dusk till dawn?
I'll never forget seeing this at the cinema... A few minutes into the film several people near the front were still talking and making noise when suddenly a guy with a voice box says "Do you mind. We are trying to watch the film". At least half the room jumped and or screamed. Was the scariest thing the entire evening.
It's got Danielle Harris in it, which automatically makes it one of the best horror movies of all time.
Welcome back, James! You've been missed, but Zoran and Chelsea really helped fill the void. I love Loretta Devine. The way she speaks, acts, looks, and carries herself. A movie is always elevated by her presence.
Really cool that James is back just like the old times
Nah zoran suck so does Chelsea
Loretta just seems like a real joy to work with
I fucking love this movie! Tara Reid’s chase scene is still the highlight of the film for me. Especially her cries that can be heard on the radio. Glad to have you back James!
I watch this kill count A LOT, and honestly, Brad is such an incredible actor, hearing his stutter, then the loud plead of “SOMEONES IN YOUR BACKKSEATTT” the chills man 😭
5:00 Brad Dourif is just THE BEST
I always loved how they had Brenda wearing a scarf around her neck in the final scene. It was a clear homage to the girl with a scarf/ribbon around her neck Urban Legend.
My favorite line in this episode.
"Yeah, everyone knows curley hair is a sure sign of a serial killer. How many bodies are you HIDING AL?!"
Lol I was just thinking the most notable thing I remember from this movie was how big Rebecca Gayheart's hair kept getting throughout the movie. 😋
Lol I was just thinking the most notable thing I remember from this movie was how big Rebecca Gayheart's hair kept getting throughout the movie. 😋
The gas station attendant yell gave me chills.
Rebecca is honestly the best part of this film especially the reveal she really leans into it and I love it
Like _Scream 4_ I cleverly and correctly worked out who killer was in this
Tara Reid is so good in this. Everyone is good, actually now that I think about it, but she was always the standout to me. Those screams and that chase scene!
In low-cut dress and knee-length boots?
Shame about her brutal murder - does remind me of Helen's in _I Know What You Did Last Summer_
She had one of my favorite chase scenes in horror
It also fun to see how much the cast seem to have enjoyed making the movie. Maybe not John Neville so much but who can blame him.
The king of horror has returned. Welcome back, James. ❤
This movie is super underrated. It's where I first learned a lot of urban legends from. The cast is perfect, and kills are very well done. (Never went near Pop Rocks after that.) Jamie Blanks did an excellent job, especially for his first time.
Yeah, that scene was brutal.
One of the greatest slashers.
Jamie Blanks is a very underrated director.
Almost on par with Scream in my opinion.
This video and your comment peak my interest. I should check it out.
I'm surprised James didn't mention that Vince Corazza, the actor who played Brenda's fiancé, also played Officer Bailey, the cop Tiffany killed in the intro of Bride of Chucky!
Yep I did mention that few times
I recently found out about this movie and loved it. It’s a shame it isn’t talked about more.
James is back! I love our little diversions with Zoran and Chelsea it makes me appreciate all they bring to the host spot. I'm so glad James is covering this obscure movie
Sadly I think the sequels have NOTHING involving Miss Gayheart and her character
@@Shuichisaihara5499sequel has her have a cameo at the end
Really nice to to have him back. Nil the quality is so lovely
between reading the "are you scared of the dark" books in school and being a fan of short-story horror podcasts and animations now, I'm familiar with most of these legends. I got chills when I realized they were doing "aren't you glad you didn't turn off the light" I love that one.
That whole scene was so tense because you don't really know at first if the killer was gonna go through with killing the sleeping girl.
i love the fact that Brenda survived
I CAN'T believe it! For 5 years, i've been waiting for James to cover this movie! I'm so happy! 😭
I know right. I’m so happy.
Same!
One of my nostalgia faves. And I love how many actors in this show ended up guest starring on Supernatural! Loretta Devine, Julian Richings, Alicia Witty, and even Robert Englund 😂
Loretta Devine is a gem in everything she’s in but she is an absolute treasure as Reese.
Best character in the movie.
I love Rebecca Gayheart. This film and Jawbreaker are so good and she’s really good in both. I love in this film, when you find out she’s the killer, she gets all southern sounding. She’s from East Kentucky (I’m from west Kentucky, right on the board line of Tennessee) and you can tell it’s a bit natural (some Kentuckians can blend in with their accents, like Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, and George Clooney are all from Kentucky, but don’t really have the southern accent; I don’t really either, but I was born party deaf, so I grew up learning from television and movies rather than my parents, plus my dad also has a different accent, due to being from northern Kentucky, though he still has somewhat a southern accent).
Ive been dropping from this channel for a while, no particular reason this is seriously one of the most passionately made shows on CZcams
But now that im watching again i am DELIGHTED at how much content I have to look through
Enjoy!
same, tho it was partially because Its hard to watch all movies before the killcount properly, I was able to do it for this one finally
I do this with like all the CZcams’s I watch lolol
I will say this is one of the underrated slasher films. Lot of the kills are unique based on the many urban legends which is definitely a unique concept and the atmosphere and cast is pretty solid too. Plus you got many fun horror legends like Brad Dourif and Robert England in a few scenes too. They're always fun.
Same
Dourif in particular seems to be playing his "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" character if he'd lived, gotten away from the psych ward and Nurse Ratched and gotten a service job.
Same with Jamie Blanks' other directed slasher: Valentine ❤ so adore this film - and like Scream 4: I cleverly and correctly worked out who the killer was when first watched it
@@saturnivis_6327
i also loved how rebecca changed her accent once brenda was revealed as the killer in her natural southern draw voice since shes from kentucky
@@thepubknight6144 That was a great detail to be honest.
Michael Rosenbaum’s portrayal of Lex Luthor in Smallville has to be the most comic accurate representation I’ve seen
Welcome Back James! I hope you enjoyed the honeymoon
Enter new memorable moment on the Kill count which is”Someone’s in the back seat”
Here's an interesting fact. The legend about the calls coming from inside the house is actually based on the real-life cold case of Janett Christman
The story about the old lady and the microwave made me think of possibly in Michigan
She must have been out of her head
my very favourite thing about this channel will ALWAYS be how much i learn about different kinds of horror. i consider myself a huge horror fan but so many of the films on the Count are films i either havent heard of or havent seen, and i love how many 'styles' of horror ive encountered after starting to watch this channel
Love the handle and the flag. I had always thought the roommate looked familiar, so that was a fun new fact.
I missed OG James’ Kill Counts and I’m glad to see this absolute legend return to count up all my favorite movies
Brenda is really good at recovering from bullet wounds apparently 😂
Tara / Sasha's chase scene is such an incredible horror moment! So so so good!
Almost rival Sarah Michelle Gellar's scene in i know
@@RGF91 Exactly!!

James (to Molly): Hey, don't get any ideas.
Molly: I have no ideas.
Anyone else find it funny how Jared Leto has played two horror movie characters named Paul in such a relatively short time?
Yep, mentioned that in _American Psycho_ Kill Count, which James didn't reference?
Sasha’s chase scene alone is just so well done. What an underrated slasher flick! Also, one thing about James is, that he knows how to do a damn good sponsorship 🤣🤣🤣
Brad dourif, Robert Englund, and Michael Rosenbaum were the main reasons I first watched urban legend. I ended up loving it though. It reminded me of the horror campiness of nightmare on elm street and the Chucky movies. Which I guess fit perfectly considering Robert and Brad were in this movie.

This is by far my favorite 90’s guilty pleasure slasher movie.
Me too. It's the urban legend hook.
Same. One of my favourite
I would love to see a remake or spin-off of this movie that uses more modern day urban legends. Can you imagine what a live action Hitogata or Ratman would look like? That would be so creepy.
Natasha Gregson Wagner is also daughter of Natalie Wood. Another clever nod to Scream’s opening kill by having both actresses be from Hollywood acting families.
James, you got me through a tough time. Last August, my parents had a final divorce and I was sad I so started to watch your new kill counts and it helped me. Thank you.❤ Been a fan for about 4 years.
I completely understand/agree. During a particularly bad stretch in my depression, this channel calmed and soothed like nothing else. Not sure exactly how that magic works but I’m forever grateful.
I also discovered this channel back in 2020 while I was going thru a divorce and loss of a job. I became addicted to these kill counts starting with the Friday the 13th series and have been a fan ever since.
As a Torontonian, I feel obligated to point out that the University of Toronto was also where they filmed part of Black Christmas. A school with good horror pedigree!
Happy to see you back, James!
I remember watching this as a teenager, and the scene of the girl waking up in a tub of ice with her kidney gone will forever be engrained into my mind.
I love how he put Robert England in a little Freddy outfit
Oddly enough and maybe this is just due to being fairly young but growing up I learned most of the main urban legends from this film instead of from books or chain mail, I like to thank this film and a few episodes (most the college campus hook hand episode) of supernatural for my obsession with urban legends which unintentionally grew into my love for horror

Good to have you back James. Glad you got the time off you needed. Looking forward to many more years of kill counts with you!
This makes me so happy, James. Thank you so much. Love to see you cover my favorite era.
I’m so glad you’re doing these movies. They’re fun. I’m still terrified of the someone in the back seat legend! I check my back seat every time and tell people that legend

An absolute classic
It’s part of the unholy trinity of 90s slashers with Scream and IKWYDLS

Tara Reid's chase scene is one of my favorite ones in all horror cinema, it's right there with Drew Barrymore's in "Scream" and Sarah Michelle's in "I Know What You Did Last Summer" 🪓 💀
what I love about this channel is James telling the background of the actors and production. makes me appreciate the movie more ❤

It’s so cool to be able to have chucky and freddy in your first feature film
Brenda Bates is one of the best villains imo
Early again to view not only James's return, Kill Count on one of my favourite horror movies I've seen more times than count - same to _Valentine_ which Jamie Blanks also directed!
Like *_Scream 4_* - this is another horror movie where I cleverly and correctly worked out who the killer was when I first watched Urban Legend 👏🏼👍🏼 and the parka coat disguise is same in 2012 horror movie: *_ATM_* (with Brian Geraghty, Alice Eve & Josh Peck). James didn't mention David (Brenda's former fiancé) is Bailey in *_Bride of Chucky_*
I knew Dean Adams garage death with slasher under his car gets Golden Chainsaw award 🏆 yet also like prank monkey Damon hanging in tree, goth girl Tosh strangled in dark - prefer Danielle Harris in this movie than Zombie's unlikable _Halloween_ movies, and I nearly choked watching Parker's kill 🤢
Cast with pretty redhead Natalie (Alicia), Rebecca Gayheart (also was in _Santa's Slay_ KC), Jared Leto (was in American Psycho)

I’ve been waiting for this to drop for almost 5 years now. Thank you James.
Well i guess the good thing about being stuck working until 11pm in Australia is you get to watch the new kill count within the first minute of it posting! Been looking forward to Urban Legend!
Watching this movie as a kid around when it first came out, that opening with Brad Dourif is one of those fantastic hidden memories.
I don’t know why it’s taken me so many rewatches to think of this, but Brenda’s reveal and zany line deliveries reminds me of Jim Carrey. It’s like if Ace Ventura was a murderer.
One of my favorites thank god you have gotten around to it thank you 🙏
The hint in the school crest is amazing. You can tell they put a lot of passion into this film.
