Whoever wrote the 'Son of a Hermes' deserves a thumbs up from me, love it
👍

This promo section was one of the best tbh
Will we get more Kill Count Trailers in the future?
"It's all in my head.. it's all in my head.."
Girl, you have no idea how literally correct you are.
first time I watched it when her head split open in the jail scene I thought of that and giggled in the theater and I think people thought I was crazy
1:34 I just spotted Gorillaz figurines
Her brother has been living in her head rent free
I bet she thinks about it over and over again
😂
22:47 that "why am i calling the police" line is delivered so perfectly
lol true
Fun fact, Gabriel’s voice actor Ray chase now has dead meat as a role on his IMDb page. He’s also the voice of Bruno bucciarati sukuna, and Uzui.
That's pretty awesome
He's also Noctis from ffxv! I did a triple take when he first spoke in this movie and went straight to IMDb to check when I heard him
@@MeowCatters And Susanoo from BlazBlue
I never forgot Fyodor Dostoevsky from Bungo Stray Dogs. He nailed the Russian accent.
He also did Mozgus for Berserk 2016's dub. If it weren't for the clanging, it woulda been a good radio play.
I find it cool that Gabriel's arms pre surgery makes it look like Madison has a set of broken wings.
devil vs angel
The plot twist in Malignant is the most insane shit that I will NEVER forget. Absolutely bonkers but absolutely amazing.
The doctors literally doing a "We'll cut out what we can and just kinda squeeze the rest back in there" and just shrugging off the evil brain parasite is one of the funniest things I've seen
I think just watching the Kill Count (I don't like horror movies, but I do like James' breakdown of them), the plot twist that the protagonist and the monster are the same person is fairly obvious.
For real!! It was amazing & when rewatching a 2nd time it all makes sense. I couldn’t sleep that night for a few hours
@@rokeYouuer the plot twist is that it’s not a horror but a action gore slasher.
You should watch last night in soho
The movement choreography for a killer piloting a body backwards is probably one of the most creative things ive seen in movie media. makes my skin crawl looking at it, and it gets more intense when it was revealed that a living tumor was the killer.
I don't have the attetion span for movies so i try and support this channel whenever i can. Good stuff Deadmeat
That was my fav part ! The backward fighting omg. I lost it and was fully on board. Malignant is one of my all time fav horror movies
It's so awesome!
I’ll admit, Gabriel is such a novel horror villain. A supernatural parasitic twin that operates its host body backwards.
And he's voiced by a baller anime VA, what more could you ask for!
These might be some of my favorite lines from any kill count episode! "Gabriel is the Natural Born Killer," "While Samara is Weaving," and "Dodging bullets like he's The One." There's plenty more good ones, but this is some of my favorite writing in the show ever. Extra props to the writers of the script for this video.
the one about micheal needing to find a new vessel
and Derek being a ‘scary son of a hermes’
Thank you to the dead meat team for working around these copyright claims to give us these amazing kill counts. Thank you James and the dead meat team, you guys are amazing!!
Thanks for the support
WORKED AROUND FOR NOW...
Zoran has seen this comment and says thank you
@@azrael4635 oh really? I'm shocked to be honest
they kind of have to if they want to earn a living
I really hope they get to make a sequel out of this movie because the humour, the effects, the gore, everything was top notch.
I mean, they’d have to, right? Absolutely no way she doesn’t go to either prison or a psychiatric ward for all the people Gabriel killed. And either of those options are a hell of a stress test for Gabriel to resurface
@@daltonwilliams1723 She'll have to use Gabriel to escape 🤔 I love this movie I'm down for another one.
God please no this was the worst piece of shit I’ve seen the last 5 years
I want the sequel to dive into the life and character of Gabriel; please, Wan give me Anti-Hero Gabriel!
it wont get a sequel its a box office flop
when I was watching this movie, I said to myself "this is like a Basket Case situation" right before Gabriel was revealed in the tapes, and then "wow, this literally is Basket Case"
great hints leading up to it like the initial "cancer" line, which feels figurative until the reveal that it was meant very literally
and that's one of the things I love about this movie - things that would normally have non-literal meanings instead mean exactly what's being said - when Maddy says "it's all in my head," that's true in both the expected sense (Gabriel was making her have hallucinations) and the physical sense - he actually lived inside her skull
No sweet Belial scream though! Missed opportunity. 😂😂
Also, the fact that I'm a woman , makes me just as horrified , at the revelation of Gabriel feeding off her previous pregnancies , to rebuild himself.
I kind of love how this movie is kind of a superhero/supervillian movie sometimes with the secret identities, powers, costumes, and even a hidden lair that fits the character
The director, James Wan, made aqua man so it makes sense.
🍪
I used to work at my local theater last year so I was able to watch it with my cousin thanks to my employee perks. We were gasping and laughing the entire time and when Gabriel revealed himself, I remember yelling out 'put that thing back in there!' It was a wild ride from start to finish; definitely one of Wan's best👌
Put that thing back where it came from or so help me! So help me!
- Monsters Inc. the Musical
Why does the title card look much like Stranger Things?
“Why am I calling the police?” That one got me 😭
This movie was like a blast of the 80's-90's with a fresh crispness. Cheese like a Philadelphia cheese steak, campy like the Evil Dead, absolute stupid yet brilliant, AND CAN WE SHALL NEVER FORGET THAT CHAIR THROW. THE MOST EPIC CHAIR THROW EVER.
I hated how horror fans argued over what MALIGNANT was suppose to be without just ENJOYING the movie. It’s multiple things: a detective film like SAW, a slasher like Nightmare on Elm Street, and a supernatural medical like The Beast Within. It’s colorful as much as it is dark and flashy. It’s atmospheric and fast at all the right moments. It KNOWS it’s campy and leans purposefully into it.
people miss the point of things in an effort to over critique whatever they can
I love the campy feel but detective stuff too!
The movie is amazing. A true homage to horror as a media.
I see it as a love letter to horror films in general. It's perfect just the way it is.
And a call of duty montage with that 360 no scope chair xd
I like how there are subtle hints to who the killer is, like the shadow thing having backwards arms and the backwards handprints on Derek.
🍪
I loved how Madison/Emily has an actually super supportive and helpful family, rare in horror!
Since it’s release, this film is quickly becoming one of my all time favorite horror films. There is so much to be said about executing your vision and taking it seriously despite how silly others may feel it is. I absolutely love this film and feel it will age like wine.
Ray Chase did an amazing job doing the voice of Gabriel! He really does have a range of talent, whether he’s playing a horror figure or Prince Noctis in FFXV. Major creds to him!
I think he also voiced the English voice for Bruno in JoJo Golden Wind.
Don’t forget Sukuna in Jujutsu Kaisen.
Or Lancer of Black in Fate/Apocrypha
That’s ray chase?!
@@soybajo-kira8585 Hell yeah, I looked it up after I watched it. So happy to see a anime VA in a mainstream horror movie.
People said they didn’t like Malignant because of the cheese which means a James Wan succeeded in his goal! This was for me THE best horror film from top to bottom last year. From the cheesy background music, over the top acting, strong plot line, gore, perfectly executed plot twist that we already figured out before it was revealed but was still shook- it had it all! If there was a sequel I would absolutely be down to see it.
Watch the Rupert grind cabinet of curiosities. I think it's ep 7.
It's very creative and super haunting
I wanted to like it and Barbarian but I just couldn't for some reason
@@elnoare Please like Malignant
🍪 some garbage
17:50 I love thinking of 'Malignant' as a reimagining of 'Basket Case' (or even just occurring in the same world). I feel like Gabriel and Belial could share a drink together.
Honestly your videos consistently get better and better! Loved this movie and your kill count of it.
Thanks so much!
Your the best
Chelsea should genuinely work as a weather forecaster or something like that lol. Her voice is perfect.
She does voice acting if u wanna check her other stuff out
The sponsor skit was honestly one of the smartest things ever , instead of just saying the product and how good it is you brought us in , made it entertaining and that’s why I love you and the amount of effort y’all put into this
And referencing the film. Well played.
I was gonna comment this 😭 that was smooth as hell
she likes how it smells
@@bangawa3441 just like his body after using the product
Same and there super funny 😂
The way James says murder and saboteur always makes me smile
I legit screamed at the highest octave I’ve ever done when I saw the part where they show the video where Gabriel gets cut out of Emily.
I was in shock but I couldn't scream cuz everyone was asleep. The twist got me fucked up fr
"Gabriel proceeds to massacre the cell block tango of ladies, though most of them had it coming." Your references are, once again, ON POINT.
I can only imagine how stressful and annoying dealing with all these issues over the past few weeks. Thank you dead meat for putting out top tier content every week.
i must say, the production value of the ad breaks are not only impressive but it also makes me feel really good, you genuinely care about your audience and it definitely shows
The contortionists are incredible and did amazing! It must be difficult to move backgrounds while still looking somewhat human
Nothing beats a Friday night Kill Count! James is such an amazing presenter it's unbelievable. ♥️
I agree
Ong
no one cares
@@dinogt8477 seems you do since you commented but this comment might as well be a bot
@@thatgothcat it's not man I've just commented the exact same thing under every kill count. Formed a habit 🤣🤣🤣
The fact that Gabriel is voiced by the same dude who voices Tengen Uzui in Demon Slayer really surprised me.
Ray Chase has a pretty big profil
Corazon, bucciaratti, sukuna
Ray is such a sweetheart. I met him at a con a couple years before Malignant happened, and it was one of the most heartwarming interactions I've had with a voice actor. So happy to see him getting to lend his amazing vocals to such a memorable character. Gabriel gave me chills when I saw this movie, and a big part of that is because of Ray. I'm so glad you guys are friends!
I love this movie. It's so damn silly and it knows it, but still plays everything 100% straight. I haven't had as much fun with a horror movie in a while.
Instantly one of my favorite horror movies. This one is a blast. Had no clue just how much of the effects were practical, but it makes sense. You can really tell all the effort and work that went into it.
My too (yeah, i'm brazilian)
Movie was comical, predictable, and cheesey. Better than Halloween Ends tho lol.
It just shows how far and few between quality horror movies are. 6 outta 10.
@@letsjustlaugh1592 it’s supposed to be comical and cheesy, it’s a fun campy horror/action movie. Evil Dead 2 is a great horror movie and it’s comical and cheesy too
@@frymanslim and? I remember it, so it did it's job. I still stand by my comment. It's a one off gimmick horror movie.
To me it's sad these are the best we can do to be remembered. 6 out of 10. It's for those with a attention span of 12 seconds.
@@letsjustlaugh1592 Or it’s just for people that want to have a good time. Why do we have to insult people for enjoying stuff 😂
In my opinion, Gabriel is one of the coolest slasher characters we’ve gotten in recent years.
Don't forget Art the Clown
The domestic violence open scene actually terrifies me more than other part.
Humans are definitely the most horrible demon in some ways.
I can’t always help but think how much it would hurt for Gabriel to come out of the back of her head
Seattle is an underrated location for horror films. I love that they incorporated the Underground in this one.
I haven’t seen the Underground in a horror flick since Kolchak the Night Stalker!
I will say though, it made the James Wan giant big house really stand out to me. It struck me as odd that the main character lived in a two million dollar house and it just never came up.
"Guess Michael's gonna need to find a new vessel" Thank you to whoever came up with that one!
This movie blew me away last year! Saw it in theaters and once that scene where we saw Gabriel on McKenna's back, I was like "What the heck am I watching right now? And why is it so awesome?" Lol. Great review James & crew. Also happy to have Ray back doing the voice near the end.
Seeing this opening weekend with a full house was one of the best experiences I've had in a movie theatre ever just a wild and fun ride from start to finish. As a big Giallo fan it was really a treat.
The "Guess Michael's gonna have to find a new vessel" got me, that was hilarious.
Shout out to Dead Meat for getting me through college. I took my last final today and I am happy to be able to keep my tradition of coming home after a long day to watch the new episodes. So thank you Dead Meat, you’re all gorgeous
Congrats
Congrats!
Congratulations 👏🎉👏👏🎉👏
Congrats bro
congrats! 🎉
I wanna see a campy TV series about this movie. Imagine Madison trying to control Gabriel, Gabriel wanting to have the life he never had, and Sydney never using a door, but choosing to enter a house via the window.
James, you are literally one of the very few CZcamsrs I actually trust and respect personally 😂😂 and man when you had that spoiler warning I could see it In Your eyes and face how serious you’re inquiry was. And man holy shit this was amazing!!!!
The sponsor segments just get better and better, every time it just tops the last one it's insane. Bravo Ben
“I like how it smells” hahah that line
Great episode guys! I'm glad y'all loved this movie as much as I did! Never had more fun watching a movie than I did with this one.
14:27 And in Ghostbusters: Afterlife as Egon's granddaughter. She is out here working.
I don't get why this isn't more popular? This was epic!
Gabriel flinging that chair made this movie an automatic horror classic for me
i loved this kill count. it was so funny, informative, and entertaining just as always! and the fact that you guys are constantly working against copyright issues, just really drives home how much love is put into each and every kill count episode. this is truly an art form.
😢😅😊opening your Christmas 😊😊
I love the supernatural reference about Michael, finding a new vessel😂
And yes, 'Basket Case' is amazing. Particularly that song-and-dance number from the 2nd one, and the way that female reporter died at the end of the 2nd one.. THAT was creative!
Dang. You missed the golden opportunity to title card your *own* show! 25:14
The scene of the lady falling through the ceiling right into the previous scene when we the audience assume they had cut to a new location was beautiful
Omg i love this! An demon absorbed twin tumor killing people backwards? Literally might be my new favorite thing lol
14:08 anybody notice how clean that transition was?
I was crying with laughter when I watched this in the theatre, one of the best cinema experiences I have ever had. Thanks for the Kill Count, it was so much fun.
I was in the theater cackling like a madman at the jail scene. It was insane.
Didn't realize this was a dual release--I watched it on HBO on release weekend, and have sold it to friends as a must watch. Some of those friends no longer talk to me, but that's okay.
@@maineman5757 They looked like Sims!
I love how much James is incorporating himself and Chelsea and the team more ❤ I’ve been waiting for this kc finally haha
When I first decided to watch Malignant I was so shook by all of the major plot points/twist that it made my eyes water, This movie was such a roller coaster of shock and confusion that it left me shaking with a rush of adrenaline. Needless to say Malignant is now one of my all time favorite movies.😵💫
Not many times I stop watching a killcount to watch the movie first but I thoroughly enjoyed doing so last night! Thanks for a great movie suggestion!
We don’t deserve you working this hard to get this uploaded. Thank you James and Chelsea!
I had no idea this was Ray Chase. The man is a legend -- he can voice anything from the Prince of Lucis in Final Fantasy XV to a crazy murderer in Malignant. Omg.
this movie is just amazing. And i wanted to show James and the whole Dead Meat team the appreciation they deserve.. you guys put so much effort in making this content and it's palpable. all the way here from brazil, following you guys for some years now, i just wanted to say, u guys are good people.
Dead meat made me pause the video to go watch the movie on HBO Max, to then come back to CZcams immediately just to watch this video. Thank you for that. The movie was amazing, and I have been putting it off. This channel has made me watch so many movies that I would’ve never “gotten around to”.
the production value of the kill count lately is just insane. i've been watching this channel religiously since 2018 and seeing y'all's growth from what was already a kick ass channel is surreal.
19:22 So, Ray Chase voices Gabriel, who sort of acts vaguely like an alternate personality, and he killed a person by punching through her chest. Is that a Golden Wind reference? (Main villain has a split personality, and a Ray Chase-voiced character gets “donuted” in a similar way)
Maybe Bucciarati's spirit wanted to have a revenge
24:58
I love the bit here, not many movies go through the explanation of how exactly these phenomenons work and I always loved the times when people make bits off of that.
Something i love about this movie is the fact that they used a remix of the fight Club theme to hint that it was her all along
I absolutely adore the script writing in dead meat, cause that subtle supernatural reference was impeccable
The writing is so good. Did you catch that Clarissa reference?
Malignant was such an amazingly enjoyable ride. Its one of the very few movies I wish i could completely forget, so that I could experience it for the first time again. Wan truly outdid himself with the movie, glad so many people enjoy it
My feelings exactly!
James’s references are second to none. Love the nod to 2011’s “The Killing” at 8:20.
At 19:45 im pretty sure it was a reference to another movie she'd been in, called Death Proof where she's one if the main characters in the second half. If so, i love the fact that that was snuck in for people who recognise her.
I did what you said. I paused the kill count, pulled up HBO Max and watched the movie. The "twists" were SO telegraphed I clocked them right away, but I'm still glad I watched it first so I could witness all the absurdity unspoiled before the kill count. And quite the body count on this one, damn!! James Wan hasn't lost his touch~
@19:55 I always thought the bash against the bars just knocked him out. The process of hollowing him out and turning him into a puppet is what killed him
Literally the BEST way I’ve ever seen anyone introduce a sponsor😭😭😭
One of my first horror movies was The Conjuring. I immediately fell in love with the horror genre after that, and now I have every Conjuring movie and spin-off that's come out. I love it.
When I sat my family down to watch Malignant I told them it was made by James Wan since we’re all fans of The conjuring and afterwards I could tell they weren’t too fond of it 😅 they kept asking “THIS is the guy that made the conjuring? Wack” but everything they disliked happened to be everything I loved about this movie! It’s wacky, exaggerated and fun. also OH MY GOD THE POLICE STATION SCENE like how could you not see how dope it is!! Hope James Wan can make more movies like this 😁😁
Can't believe they didn't like it like what it was so amazing
I had a similar experience I even had people tell me they enjoy Halloween more than this movie which was completely baffling to me, but I guess that’s the standard consumer for you
"Should have left that friend at Foster's." This script is so well-written, this week, but this made me nearly choke on my dinner from laughing! Very clever!
I am so impressed by the smallest references you manage to sneak in. How you made the reference to Megatron's birth name from Family Guy because everyone assumed it was Megan was immaculated, so impressed!
Bro Malignant was pretty great and was not expecting how it rolled out. Also loving the scenes with you and the wife and showing youre guys love for what you have built here, great chemistry as always!
12:15 I appreciate the Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends line ✨🥰
That transition at 14:09 is so clean. The clips are aligned so well.
We love you Dead Meat Team!! So glad this kill count has been able to stay up 🥰 just ordered my final girl sweater, it looks so cozy - also I can't explain how much I love Chelsea's "I like the way it smells" while looking into the camera
I'm so glad you included the scene where Maddy reveals she was adopted because it introduced me to one of my favourite songs of the year! Thank you for that, and for all the effort you put into the kill counts. It is immensely appreciated :)
13:49 Someone needs to sync this jump up with Matthew McConaughey's scream while he jumps in Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation.
I love this movie, especially the last action scene, the movements and the shots were incredible!
I also lost a lung during the scene at 7:55 as, if I remember correctly, Madison firstly reacted like: "The hell are you doing in my house?" before finding herself in doc's home and I just found funny to react like that while someone appears screaming while you want to wash the clothes.
Kekoa- hot, bad ass, caring, great at his job, Helpful, kind, etc. No wonder everyone is horned up for him. Including the people watching.
I’m so happy this was able to get reuploaded!! I adore this movie and I loved the care you put into explaining the behind the scenes and naming all the people that made it possible ❤ love you james!!
4:53 literally killed me 😂☠️ thank you dead meat for the amazing content time after time.
4:44 Nice "Supernatural" reference there.
Yeah I thought it was awesome
I was working at the movie theater when this movie came out. After I saw it my coworkers asked how it was, saying that most people coming out of the movie didn't like it all that much. I thought the acting was a little eh at times but I liked how it was basically a dramatic retelling of Edward Mordrake.
None of them knew who Edward Mordrake was. I spent half an hour, their whole break, explaining what happened to this guy.
I cant believe that the man, the myth, the legend who started the ✨ Oratrice Mecanique d'Analyse Cardinale ✨ dance craze... is someone's evil conjoined twin.
I can’t! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
This movie feels so fresh, I love everything about it.
5:45. Finally there is an excuse to reference the games.
14:58 Madison: *in a younger voice* NO IT WASNT ME IT WAS GABRIEL!!
