Wonderful dress in two of the most amazing and springy-summery fabrics I could ever think of, and very neatly made

Reviewing the pattern is very helpful. Thank you for your time!

    Idea: ✨💡✨ 😃 💗
Measure how much you had to take in the shoulder strap of the "sailboat" dress and baste the straps to that measurement next time you make a dress with that pattern. After basting, try it on. Most likely it will fit just right. Then continue with the sewing...
I think the ribbon idea on the dress you already made (flowered with border) sounds lovely and would definitely work. I'm going to use that on a couple of my own dresses!
    Any thoughts?

Thanks Danielle, that’s a super idea, I definitely want to make another version of this dress in the summer and am (slightly) more confident now at adjusting patterns, I’ll definitely check out some channels for adjustments, any suggestions? Xx

    Hi. Lovely summer dresses🌸🌼🌺🌷
You're such a good reviewer and I really appreciate your time making these videos for us!
I'm an A cup and always have a problem with straps being too long no matter the garment. I'm thin so I blamed it on my shoulders, but I think you are definitely right.
I see what an accomplished sewist you are and I encourage you to follow some alteration teachers on CZcams because there are many. I think you'd be really glad.

Hi Mel, I absolutely love your dress 😍. The fabric is amazing and I love the border. I'm just going to make the Betty dress from 'Sew Over It' and it happen to be the first dress that I have ever made, so wish me luck 😉. It's for my nieces Birthday and she lives in London and I'm in Cornwall, so no time for her to try it on for fit before hand, so a bit nervous about it. I'm also using a cotton lawn called 'watercolour florals' from Guthrie and Garnie which is very spring and summer and I have to say it's gorgeous and wish it was for me😊💞. I will get around to joining Instagram one day so I can join in on these great competitions that you come up with 👍. Thanks for showing a bit about construction which is always helpful to see. Good luck with all your lovely makes and looking forward to seeing everyone's versions for the competition 😁😘

Sally Dingle Hi Sally, oh the Betty sounds lovely! I have made the Betty as bridesmaid dresses for my friends wedding, one was for me and then 2 others, the fit was good ☺️ oh yes it would be great if you joined Instagram so that we can see your makes! Do you share them anywhere else? Xx

Handmade By Ditsy-Tulip that's good to know Mel that it's a good fit 👍. Unfortunately I'm not connected to anything that I can share my makes with at the moment but like I said, I might try Instagram as I think that would suit me best😁😘

Your By Hand London dresses are lovely! As for your fit issue you might just (in the future) measure the distance you need from the upper chest to the tip of your shoulder then measure out the pattern pieces to make sure they are the right length for you - alternatively you could make them tie at the top (making them a bit longer) which then you could place at just the right spot for you. You might be a little shorter than the pattern is made for and this might be one of those areas (from upper chest to the top of your shoulder) that needs a height adjustment :)

Looks really lovely.Where do you buy your Liberty lawn from? I liked the blue one, with the pin tucks. You could have altered the straps by sewing pin tucks in the red thread to match the hem.I like the way you go through the pattern,it really helps to see what the pattern is really like.

Maureen Cullen that’s a great idea! ☺️ I get my lawn from Abakhan fabrics but they don’t have any of these designs left unfortunately xx

Hi, you could redraft the neckline and make the shoulders wider to the inside. Hugs, Georgia-Rose Greer
