Bloody brilliant! Really enjoyed this and great to get a back to back review on both bikes. Good work Farmer T. Given my height if I had the money I would go for the GT and I prefer the looks of it.
Cheers Martyn - Farmer ;)
You will love the GT.
I have a GT Model on order BUT with the MID position foot rests. I can't ride feet forward as it didn't feel natural when I sat on one. Also, with this setup, I get the fly screen, heated grips, back rest and nicer looking wheels compared to the R Model. Still waiting for delivery...
I want the GT for me, those Sunday morning drives of solitude, finding an old diner an hour or two away, appreciating the power of this beauty. I don't see this as the type of bike that you would tour with a passenger for a week at a time. Triumph is the first manufacturer to truly modernize the class known as "Cruiser". Simply beautiful, but this adventure is mine, and mine alone. I will share other things with my Lady.
Appreciate this complete comparison of the two. Very helpful.
Your welcome :)
I owe rocket 3 R.... Its amazing..
Great review, thank goodness I have ordered the GT -:) can't wait for it to arrive!!!!!!!!!
Brilliant thanks for the broad review on the fantastic bike or bikes being the rocket 3s the realistic chance of both on the road in real time was unbelievable because they are very much different and you're surprised finding on them so good to watch thank you for taking the time to do it 👍👍😎
Really pleased you like it Cecil. Thank you I absolutely loved riding these bikes.
Which is a slight problem 😜
You don’t happen to know a bank that wouldn’t mind being robbed a little bit, would you 😂
Good video. Gave plenty of information on both bikes. Thank you.
Well done very entertaining review, keep up the good work.
Da Hi - Cheers 👍 will try to 😊
Now these are big British bull mastiff's of the motorcycle world, I do admire the power and engineering of them but owning one can't be easy.
They are indeed big Gary and good though they are, you never forget the weight 🤔
Another great video there Farmer T. Keep 'em coming!
Thanks Rob, appreciated 👍
I enjoy your analysis and commentary. Thank you.
Thanks Robert, Much appreciated 👍
Glad you got the chance to ride both. The GT is easier to handle when used as a laid back muscle cruiser at lower speeds. And the R works better when used as a muscle roadster at higher speeds. So it's really all down to riding preference. I preferred the R and I'm looking forward to its arrival!
Good choice Richard, think you'll have a lot of smiles!
Great review. Love the comparisons. I think I’ll have to get the panniers on my TFC just for the attachments.
You won’t be surprised to hear I think that’s perfectly reasonable 😂
Very good comparison. Thank you.
Apologies for the delay but thanks for looking in - appreciated
I know exactly what you mean about putting your leg through pegs that aren't there when getting on a bike with forward pegs... I do the exact same thing!! It's like when I used to drive a manual transmission car and got into an automatic, I'd just about kick a hole in the floor going for the clutch 😂
Be doing a similar review this weekend when the bobbers in for its wee 500 service , was on the GT today , wow , quite a machine !
Got a shot on the GT today, while my TFC was in for a service. The GT has a comfier seat (you notice as soon as you sit on it) and feels like it turns into corners easier, possibly due to the bars. It feels more relaxed with the forward controls' riding position and I can see how it might be outselling the 'R' at present. However, having done 600 miles on the TFC, I prefer the mid control riding position. I'm told that the TFC bars are midway between the R and GT bars, so it's not as radical as the R. It was windy this afternoon and I felt more wind-blast on the GT than I did on my TFC (I do have the optional flyscreen fitted). The riding position of the GT also made it a bit less comfortable to hang on under acceleration, which was probably accentuated by the windy conditions. I think the more forward tilted riding position of the TFC hunches you lower behind the screen and helps you to brace yourself better under strong acceleration. I had wondered whether I would have preferred the GT, but I'm glad I rode it. I definitely prefer the TFC to the GT. Maybe I wouldn't like the Rs bars as much though. Just thought I would share in defence of the mid mounted pegs option.
Thanks Billy. My TFC comes in April. My impression on bars was between the R and GT as well. What screen did you get? I thought of fitting a larger carbon one when available
@@funkyfin3023 I just took the same Triumph one as is on the GT. It splits the air, so you still get some air to clear your visor, but the strongest force of it goes over your head. I think a carbon one might look a bit dark, the smoked optional one looks really nice on the TFC
Hi, I think about GT with sport (R) handlebars. What do you think about this combination? I have lonh legs and hands.
wonderfully useful thanks man
Hey thanks loads - Have fun 🤩
Man I would love to own this bike. I have a Dayton 955i I'm working on now. I love that triumph does things different than other manufacturers.
Had a 955 myself 20 years ago - good bike
@@FarmerTorque I love it, the exhaust sound is probably one of the best round.
Don’t think your far wrong there 👍
Good review. Enjoyed
The GT model forward seating position will force the right leg to touch the 3rd exhaust pipe nearest to the seat. Not sure if someone got the right leg burned riding it.
Can't think of a single reason why anyone in there right mind need a bike that big , heavy & powerful .
Still can't explain why i want one..either.
Brilliant comment - sums it up perfectly!
Because it looks good, it's unique and comfortable and it goes FAST. Unfortunately it's also expensive
Everyone says that this bike is way too big, way too powerful, way too expensive, - - -, etc. And yet, at the end everyone wants to own one.
@@pjeng1 sometimes just wanting one is all that’s necessary. Get this, I was hit on my bike back in 1980. Been in a wheelchair ever since. I’ve missed riding so much and now can afford it I finally bought myself a HD Deluxe. My all time favorite Harley. I can’t ride her but I’ve ridden thousands of miles in my dreams.
Enjoyed the video. I’m torn between the two. I can’t get use to driving on the left side of the road. Certainly a test ride would help me figure things out.
excellent video!
Thank you very much 😊
Great review of both Rockets ...
Thank you David - much appreciated 👍
Good review farmer, cheers
Your welcome Colin, thanks for the kind words 😊
Thanks for the footage! Very good. Is the hinge on your visor in need of tightening? Looks like the lense is deflecting when you look left.
Hey, what is a hydraulic clutch with slip-assist ..?
Had my GT for two weeks and love it. Would probably have had a TFC if I had my time again. Been out two up with the other half and she was very happy on the back (she's only 5ft tall) and very thankful for the cissy bar! Another great review thanks. Need to sort my suspension out for two up as did bottom out a couple of times. Also sprayed the inside of my screen with matt plasticote which gives it a nice external black tinted effect.
Only disappointment is the 140 mile tank range. The tank looks huge ut I dont think that thing is all fuel underneath!
Using all 18litres that would equate to 8.04 litres/100km. Does this seem right to everyone?
Sounds like your having a good time 😀 fuel range isn’t the greatest but not awful - in truth probably enough ?? Like the sound of your screen 👍
bri sprott looking at the Gt for 2 up riding surprised what you said about the other half finding the standard passenger seat comfy as that is my only concern
Thank goodness you mentioned riding across France on one! Trying to find a sensible English review about using the bike for proper touring is very difficult to find in the volumes of dross out there. Thank you 😊👍🏼
Really appreciate your thoughts there Brian, thanks for taking the time to comment 👍😊
I had the good fortune to take the R model for a test ride this morning. What can I say? I love the bloody bike. A 2.5 litre engine sounds intimidating, but in reality, its a baby to handle. Very impressed with the lean angles and the way the bike will hold the corner line perfectly. The weight may be a factor to some riders, but once rolling, its just like my GSX 1400. I'm 6'2, 98 kgs, and it suits me perfectly. My choice would be the GT. Try it out, and you will seriously consider buying it. Thanks Farmer T. Love the channel. Greetings from Oz.
I'm not surprised you like the thing Andrew - Would have thought a great alternative to the 1400. Cool to hear from the other side of the world! Cheers - Farmer
A very good honest review as has helped me choose witch model.... The GT..Many Thanks
Enjoy it Keith 👍
10:21 So the TFC has rear set pegs? That would seem like the best compromise.
A very useful comparison. I was surprised myself but like you would prefer the GT in the end for the more comfortable, relaxed riding position and larger screen of the GT. Less likely to wind up in the lockup for one thing. Shaft drive is beautiful, chain couldn’t handle the torque.
That bike is bad ass , Triumph did a great job refining this bike over the years !
Best review yet, enjoyed that very much, I’m pretty much sold on the GT version. Will be popping along to my Triumph dealer to have a go myself soon :). Cheers.
Thanks for the very kind words Craig - really appreciated- good luck - Chris
I have a TFC and love it but do find the bars quite a stretch. I am thinking of putting the GT bars on but leaving the pegs as they are. Has anyone got a view / had that done yet? Cheers Chris
Sorry missed this Chris - As you know the TFC has unique bars - but there is no reason you can't create 'Your' TFC - GT bars would work well I think - farmer
Good review!
Very good of you to say so Steve, appreciated 😊👍 Chris
What was that black / carbon / bronze colour version of GT when u were showing saddle bags? TFC ? What is that? I cannot find it anywhere, thx..
Yes it was a TFC with a few small mods 👍
Thank you, great video. If you could only have two bikes, one is the KTM Super Duke 1290r and the other on would be the Rocket 3, which would chose?
Easy questions please Bill 🤔! Well I guess the easy answer is I’d choose the Duke - because that’s what I did !
I could chat about you questions for ages regarding the pros and cons of both
Maybe there’s a vid ???
Probably key for me is the weight.
The orange 🍊 corner is 95 kilos less than the rocket 🚀 .
Through twisty bends, under braking and yes, acceleration the Duke is on a different planet.
The KTM makes me feel younger every time I look at it.
Pretty important at my time of life 😳
The Rocket is a fabulous bit of kit though, be of no doubt.
Bill Meyer i was about to ask the same question.... but comparing the Rocket /// with the Super Duke GT. Both bikes are not even in same category, i know, but I’m really torn between them both. I would ride it in the Alps mostly (I’m Austrian, living on the boarder to Italy) so logically the SD-GT would be the far better choice I assume. But looking at the R3, it’s just like🤤. I have a feeling that’s timeless future classic ride while the SD-GT has it’s focus on performance. Some talk me out of the Rocket R please! Lol
The first time I rode a feet first was a Triumph America 865. Did exactly as you did for the first half hour. Half a day later I was loving it and bought the bike. Rode to the South of France with gf and luggage and couldn't have been comfier. Good comparison vid and feel free to giggle and give opinions...makes you relatable =)
Always wanted to be 'relatable' !!!!! Cheers, Farmer ;)
Its the R For me i'm having a ride on a R when my 1200 Scrambler,s being serviced soon
My 16 tigersport appreciated a no limit cruise control, (at least i didn't try for anything whatever over about 110mph on the limitless autobhan .) But i've now noticed on my newer one, the ton🐯 max
awsome vid farmer
Loved making this one Matthew! ! - Cheers, Farmer
Do the pegs meet the asphalt easily on the GT?
Is it significantly more difficult to do so on the R?
I would consider the best combination to be a GT with the R's peg position.
Exactly the setup I've got on mine. Feet forward is an American/chopper thing + you cannot stand up easily with feet forward and have to pull yourself up using the handlebars.
@@stephenhedge2489 why would you want to stand up?
@@stephenhedge2489 i plan gt with mid foot as well .
I really like your video! Would you recommend the gt for a newish rider (1 year of experience) or is it really to powerful and heavy?
Hart Attack - Tricky to answer your question - depends on your confidence and experience on various bikes - Being sensible I’d say get another years riding done try different bikes that you like and I think you’ll find the answer yourself - Getting advanced tuition is a very good idea - good luck - Farmer
@@FarmerTorque 2500cc bike and only been riding a year, I would say baby steps first, and as you say advanced tuition, ROSPA or IAM..it's a heavy powerful bike to just jump on, if your confidence is not there, it will soon get you into some serious trouble, I ride a Triumph Trophy SE, I took the Rocket 3 out and fell in love with It, as much as I like it, I will stick with the Trophy, that IS a touring bike.
Great vid,I want a gt after I’ve finished with my mgx21
I brought the GT triple black, but had the R footrests fitted. This feels really comfortable to me.
Great Video just put a deposit on a R what a fantastic bike to ride
Thanks Baron! Yep, it's pretty special - You won't be disappointed methinks - All the best - Farmer
Super ! Thank you ! Buys GT / after the end of coronavirus
So what extra's do you get on a TFC for an £9ish K??
Could you relocate the pegs on a GT model to the same position as the R model?
Cpcsof1 The easier solution would be to buy an R and swap the handlebars. You can also add the fly screen and pillion bar if you wanted to.
Feet forwards is ok if you’re riding like in the video. But if you want to really use the power, it wants to lift your feet off the pegs. Also these bikes have to be quite stiffly sprung which means if you’ve got no weight on your feet, your spine takes a pounding. I’d stick with the R out of the two, although I actually own the TFC, which I think has similar ergo to the R, maybe the bars are slightly different. Also bear in mind that if you’re leaning forward when it’s stationary, that’s preferable because the wind will be pushing you back when you’re going along. If you’re bolt upright, you’ll have to hang on.
I could easily go for the R as well and that was my initial preference but just found the laid back character of the bike came through better for me on the GT.I Agree it wouldn't want to be any stiffer, but wasn't too bad for me. Obviously I can't show all my riding on the video, but used both 'enthusiastically' Ultimately there is only so much you can do with a 315 Kilo bike. All the best , Farmer
A very genuine review. But I have a small question for you. Is there any option for putting the sissy bar on the 3r? Waiting for your answer. Thanks:)
Yes you can
Would the pillion rider not get a soaking in wet weather due to the tiny rear mudguard ?
Good point George, they wouldn’t get soaked but a little dirty definitely
But wouldn’t take a lot to extend the fender!
I've been riding a GS 1150 EF Suzuki for the last 35 years & the last 25 years of riding it my knees are killing me after 20 mins. because of the offset to the rear of center on the foot pegs... Other than that I love the machine for it's ride & handling & it still goes like a raped ape after all these years... I'm 67 years young now & I find these Triumphs extremely attractive & if I can find a dealer in my neck of the woods here in north central Vermont, USA, I'll be taking a closer look at both of these machines, including those saddle bags!
Excellent presentation sir & I thank you,
Bill on the Hill...:~)
Good comment to read William 👍 make sure to take your piggy bank 😂 thank you - have fun
@@FarmerTorque Thanks for the reply & yes after my comment I went on the Triumph website for additional info & the prices, GULP, LOL!
Probably my 5th watch... But, is it perspective, or are the TFC bars much higher than the R (and the GT). I presumed it would be the same as the R...
A while ago now, but pretty sure TFC bars are higher 👍
Do you think having the foot pegs on the GT moved to the mid position of the R would be as comfortable or is it just a matter of getting used to the forward position of the GT?
Awesome Dad - Ummm... tricky, but my guess is the forward pegs would suit it better - ie: as standard GT. Please remember that I found the R very comfortable by any standard- I just felt - to my surprise- that The GT setup suited the bike just a little better - cheers, Farmer
FarmerTorque just spit balling if you put the mid controls on the GT you could use the forward mounts for highway pegs gives options...my ultra classic was set up that way...
Sounds a good solution?
As long as you have short legs. Farmer is short legged to start with so ok with low seat forward controls. You go low seat and mid controls. Better be real short. The GT bars are why tip in is better, simple leverage. Easy enough to put them on the R. I think the forward vs mid control is up to personal preference. But without the ability to stand, and to steer the bike with foot weight, I”d be unhappy after awhile with forward.
I've put mid position controls on a GT and I can ride all day. Really comfortable.
The TFC. Definitely the TFC.
farmer bhau kai pan...✌🏻
It almost sounds to me....that with all of the reviews of both bikes, that for me, the R option, with the GT Handle bars, Pannier seat, and wind screen, would be best option. Do you know, if that is doable?
Yes, I think it can 👍
I have to say, I am very glad that I found your channel.
As a 3R owner, I am always on the lookout for videos of people opinions and to tap their knowledge.
This video is the best that I have seen to date. Informative, funny and very entertaining! Thank you.
Wow, thanks Jet. It’s taken all day to edit so you’re thoughts are much appreciated this evening.
All the best, Farmer
Good video good reviews and very well spoken and clear from start to finish....however I would have liked a higher speed demo and buffering at a little over the 85mph but it's a good video....I'm looking at a few options in changing to a triumph soon 🇮🇪
Thank you for watching Keith, pleasing you liked the vid, re your request to high speed you probably understand why I don’t cover the speeds you mention 😳 maybe I can help this way, in my opinion helmet wind turbulence is really not an issue, even at, err, ‘higher speeds’ 😜
@@FarmerTorque well that's a good come back.....lol....not to high speeds as we are all law abiding people 😀🇮🇪🤫 thanks again I have my name down for a test ride as soon as I get a call I will record my trip too stay safe my friend and thank you again Keith.
Cheers farmer torque
I could part with my 2017 FJR for the GT model...😎Like He said, I would have to get used to with the forward riding peg/brake...🏍
You can fit mid position foot pegs to a GT. That's what I did.
I wonder if its possible to change the pegs position on the GT to "Normal"?
louiekiwi Yes it is !
Ps... think you may have found the GT tips into corners easier as you are countersteering more subconsciously to make up for lack of foot input?
Could be Simon, however, whilst you can hustle the thing, a new Rocket's happiest chillin and flexing it's muscles now and then. After all, however good - it is still a heavy bike.
Thanks for the test/review ! interesting ! as a french citizen I do not always understand what you say but in fact with the giggling as you say I understand it all without words !! Everybody who is testing the R3R ot GT is giggling in the helmet !!! even before on the 2012 model tests !! hahaha nobody can understand the joy this bike gives to the biker !! Anyway, I still do prefer the 2012 model that I had with the 2 big TOR exhausts, it did look much more badass bike and monsterlike .... but it's a very very nice bike anyway, I hope I see one in real very soon !! Keep good biking !!
Will do George 👍
Pretty good English, by the way 😊
I really want one!
I really like your videos and the excitement when you ride. Just as an observation, the right leg and boot is right beside the exhaust pipes. On a cold day that might be nice, but isn't it going to be real uncomfortable on a 30 degree day?
One other thought is I'd love to see you on a Hayabusa and a comparison of the torque and acceleration of the two.
Philippine SemiExpat - apologies seem to have missed this 😡 I didn’t notice heat as an issue BUT you are sitting on a huge engine so as with many big bikes - on a 30* day you’ll be warm !
Too long since I rode a hayabusa but the rocket is plenty quick enough !
Hello mate plse upload the video of tft screen...really waiting for that...bcoz my gt is cming by the end of this mnth...
One of the best channel i have seen untill now about rocket..keep going mate...👍👍👍👍👍
It’s on the list Michael - honest 🙄 big thank you for the encouraging words 😊
Great video and I think I have seen all videos and tough to decide between the R and GT. I’m 5’8 and I have my 13 year old giving me company at times as a pillion. I was thinking of buying the R and then slowly upgrading it to a GT. My fear is the excitement of a R will be n lost in a GT.. what do you think
I had a thunderstorm storm and sold, now looking forward an upgrade...
Gautam Ravi - ummm obviously tricky, but you have asked so I’ll stick to my thoughts that the GT is just that little bit more enjoyable! Both will make you smile - thanks for liking the vid by the way 👍
FarmerTorque thank you for your reply 😊
Buy the GT (with back rest for your 13yr old). You'll get the same torque and power so what's to decide ?
I want one 👍
Or the indicators that seem to disappear when the car brake lights come on
I'm not the only one.....Yeppee....Cheers, Farmer
Is it cruiser qualified?
Does the GT ha e wider bars, that would give you more leverage and make it feel like it turns in easier, good comparison.
Don’t think they are wider John, in fact sitting on the sofa now I’d guess narrower-
Thank you for watching 😊
base on spec, 3R version has 3mm wider (R:889/GT:886)
I love progressive turn signals. I think they look great.
Very entertaining and informative review. Even with the giggling! Helped in making a decision to place an order. As with any video, sometimes it is difficult to get a sense of dimension and perspective. Can you share with us your height and weight. It would help with the perspective. Thank you for taking the time to such a wonderful review and commentary.
Thank you Aldo - I’m 6ft and err heavier than I should be 😂 hope that helps
Got it...16 stone...LOL
GT but with R position footrests. Waiting for someone to do it.
Exactly
You can. The pegs are configurable if you wish to change, just unscrew it and place in your comfort.
You can totally buy the rocket 3 in that configuration. You can buy a GT and change all the accesories to make it positioned like a R, and buy and R and do the opposite. You can even combine the seat of the R with the pegs of the GT and vice-versa.
I’ve bought the R. I like the foot position. That said, I may (I’ll try it) out the bars from the GT on it. I’ll see how I get on with it.
@@tonys-travels-2023 ,I have the R with GT bars, much more comfortable for me....I can't do forward controls after decades of riding sport bikes
No discussion on Riding Modes.
Anyway... The R & GT are the same engine & frame but I bought a Rocket 3GT and had mid position footrests fitted = best of both worlds; plus you get as standard a larger fly screen, nicer wheels, swept back bars with heated grips & a pillion backrest. Loving my Black Beast.
I’d like to see how this fairs long distance, obviously need a bigger windshield for weather protection and curious to passenger comfort...
As long as its dry I’d travel a long way with screens as they are - but wouldn’t need to be very cold or wet !
But in reasonable weather I’d rather cruise on this than many so called full on tourers
Pillion obviously not the best - but far from the worst either.
great great great machine
Tip Top review, Farmer. There has been a lack of solid reviews of this machine, for reasons I know not.
I am torn between my head (and accountant) looking at a motor guzzi 850TT adventure ( I just like it, warts and all), and my heart tugging me toward the Rocket 3. ( Even if I only had it for a summer of fun) That's if I can get one, I have heard the demand is high, already. I would think crash bars are a must, though, as if the worst came to the worst, dropping such a heavy weight would put a fair ding in expensive parts.
Bars wouldn't be a bad idea - not too big though! However, I think the Guzzi is full on heart choice - the fact that your thinking that suggests to me that's the route for you - Win - Win I reckon.Go for it ;)
yes crash bars should be a must on all big bikes (Harley, Indian, BMW) because really they do protect your legs in the first place and the mecanics second (and they are not cheap) ... plus you can use the crash bars to put a bigger horn on it, special LED lights and forward foot pegs for autobahn !!! was mine ..... czcams.com/video/HiPSq_VClbs/video.html ;-) ;-)
Excellent video...thankyou !
I would definitely buy the GT, but I would move the pegs back a bit. I know I'd like the handle bar position on the GT much better...First off, I'm an American rider used to cruisers...but also I'm an old coot...72, so leaning forward position of any kind, I find very uncomfortable and unsatisfying.
Thanks mate for a informative, fun video...I'm always a Triumph fan, because they are always over engineered, and well built. Can't wait to get my arse in a Rocket !!!!
Thank you very much Roger - good luck 🤞
Just wonder what the GT bars would feel like on the R? 🤔
Chris H can’t help there I’m afraid, but would think it would be fine
Went and checked out/paid for my TFC. AFTER having walked past their R and GT in the front showroom. TFC without hesitation.....and never looking back!
What is a TFC?
Looking forward to your views on this. But dinner first!
I’m deciding between rocket 3 GT and new Honda Goldwing bagger. Both have very good torque. The rocket looks more like a bike should, but very small tank range maybe too small for touring, but it has to be an every day bike too. Honda prob more reliable and has more features for similar price, but it doesn’t give the same grin factor the rocket does. If only the rocket didn’t throw crap all up the back on wet days. it’s a tough decision.
I’d go Honda for all the reasons you mention - getting dirty isn’t much fun but the bagger isn’t shabby 😂😊
How robust are the pillion foot pegs? Look a little flimsy to be honest.
Good question Dave - haven't stood on them !!!! Guess they must be ok - loved the way they ' Hide"
FarmerTorque got a test ride on the 6th March, have to put them through their paces. Make sure they can stand up to my school girl figure!
I just recently bought a Rocket 3R and at the first service I’m switching to the GT bars and adding a quickshifter😊
munchkin42 I didn’t add the backrest yet but it’s on my list
munchkin42 I like the mid foot controls. Gives it a little sportier feel when I want it
R all the way!
Ha - you may be right 😜
Thanks for watching - Farmer
The TFC's riding position is slightly different from both the GT and the R. Not too many more sleeps to go.
Your right Ivan - had some footage of the TFC but the vid was getting quite long 😳
Love your excitement, by the way 👍
Hi Ivan, I just posted a comment that might interest you; I rode the TFC and the GT back to back.
@@MrBillyRR thanks, sat on all three and TFC, then GT and then R my order of preference. I must say, the bike is a work of art and a masterclass of engineering.
Great video fantastic bikes out the two I would choose the R 🇬🇧👍
Nothing wrong with that choice Richard! Thanks for watching - Farmer
yes me too, but I would put all the GT options on it !! ;-)
GT is a cruiser position, like a Harley or Indian motorcycle. I like the GT model. Thanks for the comparison of a wonderfully / Beautiful powerful motorcycle
Missed this one - sorry - Good to hear your thoughts - Farmer
@@FarmerTorque Love these new Triumphs, I just purchased a used Honda CTX1300 , I'm having fun with the V4 engine, even though this model has its flaws. Ride safe
Be interested to know how you felt after a longer ride on the GT. My Thunderbird 1600 cripples me after about 80 miles, get off it feeling 80 not 60 as it kills my hips. First bike I have had with forwards and I really don’t like it, can’t steer through feet, makes it awkward filtering and not comfortable for distance. Shame as it’s a great bike in every other department.
I'd need to do a lot more miles Simon. and if lady luck works - that will happen as 'feature vids' this year.
Cheers, Farmer
I'm also so done with forward controls.. I was hell bent on getting a cruiser two years ago and went through two. Both just about killed my lower back, hips and inner thiges. ATM i own a 1200 Scrambler XC which i am totally happy with, yet the Rocket won't leave my mind at ease.. (the R)
You found an Audi driver that indicates. Blimey.
Or Merc or VW.
In the U.S. the BMW cars are the worst. Merc always drive way slower than they should and Audi drivers are all over the place but I will not ride close to a BMW at all.
Can we order mix gt+r version from dealer
Yes, but you'll pay extra for the options.
Can't help thinking they've got the colour schemes mixed up.
I'm with you Mark - Bit disappointed with the choice - ;(
Back-to-back comparo, fun and useful. I’d have to at least start with an R, the riding position of the GT is medically out for me, and I don’t care much for the two-tore rear wheel. Might want the GT screen a handlebars with more pullback. The ridiculously priced, beautiful TFC looks like a mix of GT and R components already...the controls are mid, the seat has a backrest first the passenger but I can’t tell if the seat height is GT low or R high. Same on bars & screen, can’t tell if they are GT, R, or TFC specific. The full blackout exhaust in the TFC really appeals to me.
The more I look at and think about the R3, the more it reminds me of the Honda Valkyrie Rune of 15-ish years back...total commitment to excess. Googling tells me that a used Rune can be had for about the same price as a new R3, which I thing is pretty amusing.
Putting your feet up on the imaginary peg when you’re riding cruisers...do you have similar muscle memory issues when getting on older bikes, the years before shifter, brake, and shift pattern stuff was standardized? I don’t, but know several riders who do.
Thanks Russell- really interesting reading your thoughts - think TFC seat height is same as R - please don’t quote me 😜

Went Googling, seat heights are 29.5 vs 30.4”. But less than an inch less can make things feel much different, or so some ladies tell me.
Most of the TFC pictures I found had a backless seat, so I’m going with the belief the the TFC shares the R ergos. That price, though. But that exhaust! And the carbon fiber! Oh, the price of exclusivity.
