- Join me for a ride on the mighty 2024 Triumph Rocket 3 Storm, the biggest, baddest modern cruiser of them all and now even meaner thanks to some updates for the 2024 model year, including more power and a new sinister look inspired by the previous Black and Triple Black special editions. Now with 182 horsepower and an incredible 225Nm of torque, the 2,458cc triple at the Rocket’s heart is the biggest engine on any production motorcycle and makes for a ride like no other.
Filmed on the international media press launch, in this video I ride the Rocket 3 Storm on the roads in the hills above Nice for what proved to be an unforgettable experience!

I Love watching first time riders that are not accustomed to such a big bike!😂
Nothing comes close to the Triumph Rocket 3!😅
It's a complete gem!
I have the 23R3GT with mid position pegs.. It’s an experience that is difficult to explain. I treat her with so much respect and ride with in my skills. It’s elegant, beautiful and scary at the same time..❤
It's a whole different animal, in a class of It's own. Utterly Unique!
Why while everyone mentions the Diavel and the American V twins as competitors to this monster, nobody mentions the Yamaha V-max (even as second hand nowadays) ? It's 1700 cc and has almost 200 Hp! It's also a mix between cruiser and a muscle bike. To me it's the closest thing.
And no torque. LOL. And it's also discontinued. The only thing that really compares to this is the BMW R18, and that has HALF the horsepower lmao.
@@spdcrzy123 foot pounds is no torque?
@@TopDonBarrow peaking at 6600RPM? Compared to the the Triumph, no, it's not.
@spdcrzy although it's about 40-50 less ib ft, I would consider 123 ib ft to still be more than enough torque for any motorcycle application. I wouldn't compare the rocket to a Harley 121 HO engine that has about 145 ib ft even though it's only about 20-30 ib ft less.
@@TopDonBarrow my point is that they're not even comparable. The VMAX makes all that torque at the same RPM as the Rocket's REDLINE. The feeling, the sensation, simply will not be the same. An apt description would be a Porsche flat-6 vs the LS3. They can both make 450hp, but the torque at a given RPM is what dictates the response.
I rode a Rocket for a day when my bike was in for a service. I really enjoyed the experience and covered the best part of Wales and Middle England. It was a treat. But I was delighted to get my own bike back. You do get used to riding positions. Thank you for this excellent insight and great confidence in riding Dan
Hi I ride a 23 plate gt and I’ve had all sorts and styles of bikes over the years I’m nearly 64 been riding since 17 yrs old with the odd break for bringing up kids in my younger years but it’s the best bike I’ve ever had smiles per mile smooth powerful handling is good weight ok when on the move and moving about in the garage it’s just an excellent bike I love it and all being well I’ll definitely buy another one when this is about 3/4 yrs old not interested in anything else I don’t ride one the road salt has gone down and we’ve had 3/4 heavy downpours to wash it away I’ve got a winter hack for that bye for now take care ride safe
I have a 2023 R model in Ice-Gray color. I would like to confess, that the recent Earthquakes here in NJ were cause by the Torque of my Rocket, as it temporarily countered the rotation of the Earth, hence causing the quake...Please don't tell anyone.
Be that as it may, I did not like the GT version, the pegs are too far forward as you illustrated, and these new Storm models, I feel are too blacked out. An Engine like the Rocket needs to show contrast, an all black layout, takes away the massive nature of the engine
I love mine. 2022 GT
I’ve really enjoyed this vlog, it reminds me of a dealer’s open day where you can go along and ride something new with no pressure to buy. That bike is huge and I understand you being nervous when first getting on. The engine on that bike is two and a half times the size of the engine in my car! Great review and a new sub. 👍
@@MarkN67 Thanks! More where this came from…
Tremendous video! thanks for sharing!
Nice video keep up the good work
You ride and talk like you've been on bikes for a long time... Very experienced. Just found your channel. Keep it up.
Excited what a bike that’s awesome
This is awesome. Mirrors my first ride of the Rocket 3 a few years ago. Daunting, but once on the move, easy to ride and so vibrant and exciting. A rewarding bike to ride, thrilling but controllable. I also ground the pegs, startled me quite a bit, but again, no drama.
Thanks, glad it struck a chord. And a peg or two!
Is there a way to move the pegs upward so that there's more clearing ground in order to NOT drag the pegs when leaning over?
@@markettradinggenius Yes! Both bikes have multi position pegs, though I’m not sure which setting these ones were on. Was only an issue on the R, not the GT as well.
What a great vlog..Absolutely loved it .. The Rocket is definitely a beast and defies its dimensions when you get a lick on…Was having a chuckle watching you adjust to forward sets ..Thanks , and stop calling yourself a rookie ..You can definitely hustle that thing around the corners 🙂👍 ATB
Haha, thanks! I’ll say I’m a rookie on a very steep learning curve thanks to the opportunities coming my way … but take the compliment as well!
Great review sir, much appreciated. Thoughtful, considered and professional. Just subbed. 😊
Thanks!
Superbly explained.
Thanks.
Keep it up.
Thanks!
An excellent review and the bike sounds wonderful.
Nice bike thinking maybe be on my bucket list. I currently ride a 2017 Hayabusa not planning on selling,
only added a cruiser bike
I like to see you ride and Judge this bike INDIAN CHALLENGER DARK HORSE & LIMITED another beautiful beast
You are not getting the full experience of that bike unless you ride it in 'Sport' mode!
Am I right, those of you who have!?
I find it a very easy bike to ride as well. Having mid pegs is the best set up if you want to take off. I don't find it intimidating because the electronics and balance is so good. The original 2300 Rocket was difficult because it was too heavy and cumbersome. It has a split personality as it can cruise nicely but has the potential to be speed monster. It's also light enough to scoot around in parking lots. I had to pick and choose how I parked the original Rocket III. Glad you enjoyed the experience.
For such a big bike, it's very maneouvarable in cities and at slow speeds and stuff. Totally daily mine as long as weather permits. It throws up at shit tone of dirt, so I try to ride it only when roads are dry and stay that, however, even a wet or damp road will get you covered in grime and dirt in no time. FANTASTIC piece of machinery. Spoiled all other bikes for me! I'll ride mine until the day that I die!
Mid-Life, which bike would you rather have as your every day bike; the triumph rocket 3R or the Ducati Streetfighter V4/V4s ?
I have a 2020 Triumph Rocket 3 GT i installed a quickshifter on it for quick start at red light i love muscle bike and its the biggest on the market and its get alot of attention i made alot a friend since i bought it and since its a cruiser i can nag Harley riders at a red light and they dont try the Rocket so fun.
GT with mid mounts is probably the 👌🏻 PERFECT setup for me. Get the sportiness while also being comfortable.
I still haven't seen one on the road.
My dad wants to buy one 💀
Can anyone confirm the only mechanical difference between the Storm and the Stock is the mapping/tune then?
Yes. No mechanical. Triumph sourced.
The wheels on the Storm are a bit lighter, otherwise it's identical, just a different ECU tune.
I would like a rocket 5000 please triumph.
But I’ll settle for a rocket 1200.
Good job. Unfortunately, the camera is too low on the chest. The speedometer is not as interesting as the landscape.
You’re absolutely right, and don’t worry, it annoyed me as well! Chin mount ordered for the next video, fear not! Thanks for watching!
The TFT is ridiculously small for such a big bike. It's a money saver for Triumph, because they use that same TFT on several of their bikes.
And after GOD!! created this world we live in TRIUMPH!! created THE!! most beautiful bike to ever grace the planet ❤️❤️❤️
My 2016 Triumph Rocket III roadster is highly modified & highly customized. It's all black, murdered out with forward controls & 18"apehanger handlebars. Carpenter Racing built up the engine & trans to full race specs. 12:1 compression with 260hp & 190ft/lbs of torque at the rear wheel. It's a Beast, and a blast to ride. It makes me giggle every time I get on it. It handles the twisties really well, I'm constantly wearing down the scraper nuts on my footpegs and can keep up with my Ducati & BMW Superbike friends.
But!!! I'm never scared of it. If your bike scares you, you have the wrong bike.
Stay Safe Ya'll!😎
I Stoopid. I don't know how to view your comment. Doh!!!
“Biggest and Scariest motorcycle you can buy”
Son…you ain’t ever rode on an Orange County Chopper before, have you?
Nobody rides OCC. They are junk and propelled Paul and Son through the TV show. Jay Leno wasn't impressed and I was at their Montgomery, County NY shop in 2004 and their showroom and junk, junk, junk. Bankrupt now. S&S engines mostly.
😅
225nm is a lot for a small car
It's a lot for a mid sized suv 😂
Also followed by drizzle and shower
Yes, your camera is too low.😢
My 260hp Triumph Rocket 3 burned up in a fire Thursday before last. A minimum of a $45,000 loss. 😭
I had more in that bike than any other bike I've ever owned, and I've owned several Harley's.
I will severely miss that bike, it was the BEST bike I've ever owned!!!😭
I'm not sure what I'm getting to replace it!?🤔
If insurance doesn't screw me, I'm thinking a BMW K1600B all Black of course.
What do Y'all think???
Oh no, heartbreaking to hear, sorry for your loss and all that. Hope your insurance sees you right for the BMW, or whatever else you get.
@@midlifecrisismotorcyclist
Thank You! I'm hoping another bike is possible, specifically the bike I want. No longer are 2 or more bikes possible. 😭
I've always had a truck to drive, but now I must share my wife's Chrysler Pacifica van with her.
Looks like a bike for my executive means of transportation. 🤔
I just bought a 2022 triple black rocket 3 GT.
Can't wait to make it my own. 😎
@@AGRIV8TD1963 A happy ending of sorts, then! Glad to hear you'll be back on the road, Rocket style.
@@midlifecrisismotorcyclist
ME TOO!!!
Thanks! 😎
Why the Hell is the pillion so small? A so-called touring bike should be nice to its passenger, even a back rest. No doubt you can buy those things but why can’t Triumph supply it from the factory? Shame.
The GT version, that was shown earlier has a back rest, the bikes are cruisers, no one mentioning touring bikes
@kbarnbrook4993
GT literally stands for grand touring. It's in the name. Yes, it's not a touring bike and definitely a cruiser/standard hybrid but it's definitely misnamed.
@@mrkillerful1 No shit Sherlock, so go look at the GT version to see the difference
@troymash the fuck you on about? I'm agreeing with the OP that the pillion is shit compared to other GTs and can see there is no difference besides the backrest. Other guy said no one is mentioning touring bikes as defense which is why I explained what GT stood for. Reading comprehension not your thing?
I hate riding cruisers with the feet forward position. Every time you pull away you can't find the pegs ! Also terrible cornering with your feet up front.
I’ll take my 09 vmax!
I’d take a Vmax if they still made them
@@alwo3678 the vmax wont hang in the twisties. I'll take the Rocket any day
You should. The Rocket is not built for you.
@@davewilkirson2320 Jeez, that almost makes sense.
@@jimanders9971Oh, I'm pretty sure the 2009 VMax will definitely handle the twisted so do get it twisted. 😂 After the 2009 model was introduced, Yamaha took a long nap and never upgraded it. Oh well , it was nice while it lasted.
It's less than 300kg...not 400kg
Hi! Not sure where you're getting your figures from but the technical info Triumph gave us on the launch say 320kg for the R and 317 kg for the GT, this being a 'wet' weight with fluids and fuel so ready to ride. Add an average size rider and you're easily at 400kg all-in, potentially closer to 500kg with a pillion and luggage. True, this generation of Rocket is a lot lighter (I think 40kg or so) than the original. But still a big unit!
truck radiator on a motorcycle
Bro you're too green to ride it
Perhaps. But nothing ventured, eh!
Big fat powerful expensive bike
Don't knock it until you've tried it Dood!!!
Ride one, trust me. Unless you can't handle a big bike, then keep riding your moped. 🤣🤣🤣
the v max is better
Why do you find it necessary to blaspheme? Please leave God out of your motorcycle reviews. It does not fit as you are not praying.
Number one you have no right to be on that bike , two you have no right to tell any rider anything about bikes as you know nothing other than what you’ve read in magazines.
He has every right to be on that bike. Everyone is entitled to an opinion and as a rider who passed their test in 1985 and has ridden ever since, I enjoy listening to anyone talking bikes. This vlog reminds me of an open day when customers turn up and ride something new and share their experiences over a coffee when they get back.
Number one you're a hater Number two you're a real hater. Gatekeeping from your keyboard is weak mate. You don't need to know anything about bikes to ride it's all in the name of fun it's clear you not fun
