    I’ve searched plenty of these tutorials and they’re all nothing but a person talking straight into a camera. First person tutorials like this are the best. Concise and to the point, thank you!

    Thank you for showing how to remove the metal button!! Mine is just like yours and even the guys in the parts department at the dealership couldn’t figure it out!! They wanted me to buy a whole new mirror🤦‍♀️.

    After struggling with this a year ago and giving up, it took more time to get a screwdriver out of my toolbox then it did to remove the mirror.
    Awesome tutorial, great job man.

    I do not like written directions. This video gave me the confidence to do my own repair, and showed me how to separate my mounting button from my mirror.

    Thank you soo much..but trust me when I say that if you have an On Star mirror..it will have a lot of glue on it that you will have to struggle to get off..I actually thought it was part of the button it was so thick..took me an hr to scrape off..finally I was able to pull it off!

    Thank you for showing the black pad on the windshield! Everyone else kept talking about having to draw the spot on the outside and I could not figure out if the black pad was supposed to come off or stay on or even what it was.😁 Yeah, I'm a girl.

    on the older cars if you don't have the black square it helps to draw a straight line outside with a black sharpie marker as a point of reference to help put the button straight. I would always used PC-7 epoxy to replace these buttons and never had a problem again. Of course it would take tape to hold it and overnight drying time.

    Video was helpful, but have to tell you that I did this twice and finally called Permatex whereby they explained that if your windshield has the black metal coating, Permatex will not work as it did not in my Honda CR V. So you either have to place the rearview mirror in a lower location on clear glass, or find a better glue. Permatex did not work for me TWICE!!!

    Thanks for posting...just wanted to add....I was trying to pop open the mirror....however some mirrors have a screw...It finally dawned on me to try and unscrew the screw to see if that would help and it did....I had to use a hex adapter...my mirror had no spring. (2004 grand am Pontiac) Hope this helps someone.

    My rearview mirror fell off but it won't come apart. Any thoughts? I wonder if some of the glue got into the join and is keeping it from separating. Oh dear.

    I have a 2008 Totoya Camry. There is reference to a "plastic" button. There seems to be something plastic on the metal button part of my mirror. Is that something that has to be removed? Or just leave it.

    Read the instructions that come with your adhesive kit. Some specifically say to NOT wipe the "button" with the activator towelette, only the windshield.

      @mike-bj4dk Před 5 lety

      thats wrong you have to...

    • @dthackattack
      @dthackattack Před 5 lety

      @@mike-bj4dk It's really optional; applying activator to button just means that as soon as you put the adhesive on the button it will be activated and begin to solidify sooner. If you don't wipe the button the adhesive doesn't start to cure until it comes in contact with the activator solution on the windshield. Basically if you put activator on button don't take your time placing it on the windshield once adhesive is activated. It's like this with most 2 part adhesives/epoxys. It says to not wipe button with activator in case you do, then you put the adhesive on it, then you have to answer a call and get back to it a minute later and the adhesive has begun curing and then won't work as well. The instruction is less about proper way to do it, and more about mitigating peoples potential for screwing up things that should be straight forward.

    This is just a marketers way of getting you to waste money people. Remove the metal tab from the mirror and scrape the surface of it and the windshield, then tae rubbing alcohol and clean both surfaces and use super glue from your grocery store or dollar store and let it dry for at least 3 hours.I used windshield rubber siicone on mine and et it dry for two days and it worked great also. Rubber tire plug cement works well also
