I grew up in catholic school and singing in church every week during mass. Singing just feels so good even if you’re not a great vocalist. I have always felt bad for people that were scared to sing because it feels so good to release feelings that way. It makes me soooooo happy when someone feels comfortable enough to just sing. It’s a simple and free dopamine boost.
Any music pre 1995 are the best.

I have loved the Lawrence Bros. Since being a five year old watching Gimme a Break. When y’all left that show and Nell goes back and sees you at a park and the song “Sing a Song” played in the background I cried cuz I didn’t want y’all off the show haha! Then later of course Blossom, Boy Meets World, and all the Disney movies. I love the brotherly relationship and love the humbleness and down to earth way your parents raised you. Like Matt said even in the midst of craziness they held you accountable and I think that’s why all three of you are such great guys! Also Matt was always my crush lol….thats just my side note😅

I think some of the blame for the monotony in today’s music lies on record producers and labels when they sign artists. I remember seeing Lady Gaga perform as an opening act at a concert that I went to back when her album The Fame had just been released. She did this glorious beautiful acoustic rendition of the song “Pokerface” that I absolutely fell in love with and it made me go out and buy her CD after the concert with hopes of hearing more of her beautiful voice. And? Nothing. All largely meaningless pop songs. But since she’s gained more fame and creative control of her music she’s added songs showcasing her voice. It’s wonderful! But I think a lot of artists today tend to get signed only if they sing what will sell. (Maybe I’m living in the old days before people could stream their own music anywhere they want, but this is my thinking🙂) Anyway, fantastic episode! I love when you all talk music because you can see how passionate you all are. And thanks to Steve for joining and sharing his wisdom!😀

Just a suggestion: what if each brother rotated who is hosting each episode? Leading the conversation a bit, asking some questions, etc. This would allow us to hear a bit more from each brother and each guest (if it is a guest close to Matt, he can host, etc.)
Love you, Joe, and your enthusiasm and passion. But it can sometimes overwhelm and not allow others to voice their perspectives.
Would love to hear more from Matt & Andy. Joe, Be okay with a bit of silence in order to give everyone a chance to speak.

Greattty guest so interesting hearing all this about singing ! You three brothers really do have such a beautiful voices and are all musically talented but also can act it’s just wild and you guys aren’t corrupt by Hollywood. I can’t believe the three of you even exist, and I know you would probably agree with us. You didn’t turn out like most of Hollywood probably because you had a really good mom and dad and grandma and grandpa to raise you and keep you away from all the terrible things that happen in Hollywood. It’s just great to see you guys are all doing well and that we’re all fan Girling over Andy he probably because he’s the only single one.😢

I have an idea. I think it would be awesome if you guys did vlog-style videos, hanging with people with raw voices, singing, and having fun together. Like living room jam sessions type thing. It could be a fun way to highlight new, really talented people and even some OGs so the new can learn from the old. You could call it Getting Real with the Lawrence Bros. Or, bringing back.
I honestly can't get enough of you guys singing together and with a vlog style, it wouldn't have to end within a set time frame.

Another issue is the lack of DJs and influence of radio. But in the 90s legislation was passed to allow a company to own basically an unlimited amount of stations. So many were bought up and consolidated into only a handful of corporations. This played a huge part in changing what and who determines what people listen to
To stick up for Billie a bit more.. there are quite a few artists now that sound pretty similar to the point where I was surprised that it WASN'T Billie that sang the song. But that's because people are trying so hard to mimick her. It's like when labels were pushing for copies of Britney in the 2000's.
