  • Time to give the GT4 back and collect my Abarth 124 spider. The Abarth 124 spider is definitely nothing like the the GT4 but it is cheap and cheerful to run. Its also great fun to drive a slow car fast and because the abarth 124 spider is cheap to run it gives you so much fun for the money you pay for it!

True, most fun I've had was with my first car, Fiat Panda 100hp. Litle horsepower means you're constantly on the limit without actually breaking the limit, now that's fun. 👍

Agree entirely, and it's nice to hear a CZcamsr talk sense rather than just promote fantasy. Been there myself too. I bought a new Cayman back in 2006 intending to keep it forever, but after 11 years of thoroughly enjoying it, I started finding it frustrating , like owning a greyhound but never being able to let if off the leash. I sold it and bought a new 1.5 MX5, a car in which I can actually use the throttle and the revs without so much fear of losing my licence. Sometimes less is more!

Great content. I completely agree that "The Abarth 124 is all the car you will ever need". The GT4 is amazing, but lacks the full engagement and fun on the public roads you get from your gorgeous afordable Abarth 124. You can't take the roof down on a winters day for a start 😂

Great vid Stef, at the end of the day it's all about priorities. I prefer an Abarth and a house in a Greek island Vs a Porsche GT4. If I was 50 with all finances shorted and available cash for fun, the GT4 would be great addition to my collection. Enjoy the rest of the lockdown :)

"its better to drive a slow [special] car fast than it is to drive a fast car slow" Could not agree with this sentiment more. Its for this reason that my first car was a Alfa 105 series 2000 Gtv. The fact it appreciated in value was a very nice bonus.

You’ve definitely got your head screwed on Stef. I am beginning to think if I bought a 70k car I’d quickly regret it because of the use-ability factor. But that’s me, I’d have to scrape together my life savings and embroil myself in more debt for another few years, if you had enough money not to bat an eyelid at a purchase like this maybe then you wouldn’t be too worried. At the end of the day, they are bought for a few reasons - to satisfy an urge, bragging rights, just to know you’ve worked hard and you’ve bought something nice that you like. But I think actual drive-ability must feature fairly low, because you can barely use half throttle for a few seconds without pant changing moments on British roads in British weather! That’s true not just this time of year but most of the time as they’re usually full of pot holes and soaking wet!

@@Jamie7ee oh I get you now, yeah I know there’s a lot of them but that’s why they’re such good value now though! Honestly wouldn’t bother me at all, there’s barely any of them in my area and it’s a rear wheel drive hatchback with bmw straight 6. Completely different to its competition. The new 1 series is quite honestly pathetic in comparison and is basically just another Golf R

"..so much fun for the money.." Totally agree. In todays world (especially here in Australia where high speeding is a worse offence than raping a child) I sold my modded mint Porsche 928 GT and kept a 10yo R56 Cooper S. It simply is more fun and cheaper in everything and quicker in some places and it's affordable enough to visit a hedge plus people wave at the Mini and smile where as in the Porsche they sneer and think you're a wanker.

You mention the word "cheap" multiple times in your video and in the description. ha ha ha You've become obsessed with increasing savings etc. You will never view automobiles the same for the rest of your life. Be careful, cheapness is a disease. It overcomes logic and will ruin your perspective on life for the rest of your life.

Haha defo not obsessed and you only live once. Just don’t want to jump too far ahead and buy something that is too far out of reach. Would rather save money to have cheaper monthly’s or buy a car outright :)
