    You know it's a great video when you watch the entire 45 minutes at 1x speed with pauses to practice! I'm not sure why I never realized that you could use the crop tool in your custom animation. I kept splitting the clip every time I wanted to zoom & crop. That simple tip saved me a bunch of time on the video I just finished editing!
    I'd love to see a video focused on how you use transitions. So many transition types have been added in the past couple of years, but I still mainly just use fade and gradient wipe. I'd love to see which ones you use and your workflow for adding them.

    Hi Jason.
    Thanks for the video. I have a question if you don't mind. Is there a way to add a custom animation to the library? I often shift from full screen of my head to a split screen with the screen recording, and go back and forth. It would be nice to have the ability to save the animation. Actually would be really nice to be able to save multiple animations and apply them to multiple tracks at once.
    One more little glitch I noticed while practicing along. If you make two animations instant (shrink the arrow all the way) you can't snap them both to the playhead. You have to extend one out a bit, align them, then shorten it.
    Just trying to get to where I can make quick cuts from full screen recording, to full head, to zoomed head, to split screen without a lot of activity. Right now I have to copy/paste multiple animations on different tracks. I dabbled with Descript and prefer Camtasia, but Descript has 'scenes' that copy the layout of all your tracks and lets you replicate it with one click.
    Thanks.

    • @JasonValade-TSC
      @JasonValade-TSC Před 25 dny

      Hey there @VelationVideos Saving animations to the library cannot be done...... except when you add them to a piece of media and save that media to the library. So, apply animations to a piece of media, save that piece of media to the library, then add it to a new project and ripple replace it we your desired content. You would still need to adjust as needed.

    • @techsmith
      @techsmith  Před 4 měsíci

      If you're referring to providing feedback to your editor, have you tried Screencast? It's free to Camtasia users (just log in with your Techsmith ID) and you can export directly from our green "Export" button to screencast. Once in Screencast you can leave comments on the part of the video timecode that you wish under the Conversation panel on the right. Even make annotations on screen.
      If you're asking about IN-product, you could use the Marker track, but that's really more for naming sections of the video so there's not a lot of functionality for notes.

    Excellent tutorial, Jason. Even though I've used Camtasia from about when I met my now wife -- and we've been married 23 years -- I learned a few new simple and valuable techniques I can put to use. That said, I noticed your CZcams video revealed each topic when you spoke about it. That's very useful for viewers. How did you do it?

    • @techsmith
      @techsmith  Před 8 měsíci +3

      Hi Branderbob, (Andy here) I think you're referring to the chapter index on the video playbar? That's done in a number of different ways, but if you open up the description of this video, you'll see how we manually typed it in by typing the timecode, and writing the topic. Camtasia actually offers an easier way (that sometimes we remember to use 🤦‍♂) by adding Markers in the video on the timeline, then titling them in the Properties panel, and when you export the video directly to CZcams from the Export window, check the box that says "Create Table of Contents from Markers" and it'll convert them.

Turn that mode on and when you move the play head and change things on the canvas it animates them. Does the standalone project make a duplicate copy of all the elements that are in the new project when it places them in the standalone project folder? I ask this because I have a video intro that I use at the start of every video. So if I have 100 videos using that intro, I now have 100 extra copies of the intro on my computer taking up additional space. That would use up additional hard drive space - yes?

    • @techsmith
      @techsmith  Před 8 měsíci +3

      It does duplicate any files you bring into it, yes. What I'd recommend doing to save space, is import that intro into your Camtasia Library (right-click on the timeline, "Add to Library" and that way, it won't add it to your Media bin each time, but its always there for your use. (Jason demonstrates this process around 39:07 in this video).

    • @techsmith
      @techsmith  Před 8 měsíci

      @@SpectralightPhoto Great question! If you go to File -> Export -> Package it will open a window and offer you a chance to export all of your customized ...stuff. Like your library, templates, themes, etc. When you're all done, export it, and it will produce what's called a ".campackage" file that you can then simply double-click when the latest version of Camtasia is open, and it'll open in the new software and import (once you tell it that it's ok).

      @@roybrettononline Hey Roy, Andy here. Actually I think I can help you with these without opening a support ticket. When Jason deleted the animation arrow from his camera track, it kept the properties he wanted. Half of the time it doesn't do that for me. So I place the playhead before the animation arrow starts, right-click the track, and select "Copy Properties" (which are the scale & position that we want). Then if it doesn't do what you expect after deleting the animation arrow, simply right click the track again and "Paste Properties."
      As for your title editing, make sure you select it on the timeline, then edit it the text in the Properties panel on the right. Jason did it on the Canvas, but different screen resolutions and other variables can make that experience different. Where it says "Screen/Metadata/Capture" in the Properties panel is editable.

I've tried bringing the videos into Da Vinci resolve to split the audio/visual and resync them but Da Vinci does not support the file type which is mp4. I've changed the codec of the videos to the recommended settings in VLC but the file type is still not recognized in Da Vinci. Why is the audio/visual synced in Camtasia but not synced in the export file and what can be done about it please? Do you have any recommendations?

      Thanks for the reply. I checked the FaQs in Techsmith-help and audio visual syncing seems to be a common issue. I followed the suggestions for updating drivers and changing settings etc, done loads of tests and it made no difference except my computer crashed and the software had to be reintegrated via BIOS. Have decided to ditch Camtasia as a waste of time and use OBS for screen capture and Da Vinci Resolve for syncing and editing instead (I bought Camtasia to save the extra workflow). I can now produce quality video and sync audio/visual with waveform at a click of a button and export perfect content that plays on multiple media players without any issues. Go figure. I'm not bothered about the £300 I spent buying Camtasia, but I am about all the time I spent trying to solve all the glitches. It did occur to me that Techsmith seems to blame people's computers and software for the syncing issues, but I think the issue is with Camtasia because it is supposed to be designed for Windows and Mac systems and clearly it is not because why should people have to change their settings on their system software. I think the tech team should think of ways to make Camtasia more compatible to the systems it is designed for. Don't get me wrong here because I think Camtasia is an amazing tool, exactly what I was looking for, but you need to fix the syncing issues. There are so many posts about this on social media and google searches, you should take note and listen to your customers. Camtasia is being described as a bit of a toy with a few good tools when compared to OBS for instance. Just giving you a heads up without malice, wishing you all well and hoping you will solve the issues before my next update, go for it guys because I'm over the 30-day from purchase period so I can't get a refund. @@techsmith

      Hi Camtasia, sorry want to add another follow up because the problem has been solved and it may be of help to your technicians. I'm using a Lenovo legion 5 AMD, my webcam is a Sony ZV1f connected by HDMI, my microphone is a Sennheiser MKE 600 that goes through the Focusrite Scarlet 2i2 audio interface and connects to the computer via USB. My previous set up was as per the specs recommended by Techsmith and the issue I had was that the audio/visual was in sync in Camtasia but was out of sync in multiple media players after export. I followed the recommendations given by Techsmith Help and it made no difference. My computer crashed (would not start up but the lights and fan was working). I followed the fix recommended by the Lenovo Help forum and the computer reset the software via BIOS. This did not solve the problem. I'm not sure if my computer has been doing further updates overnight but this morning I decided to make a quick video with Camtasia just to check and now Camtasia is out of sync and the exported video is out of sync. I made another video in Camtasia for three minutes and clapped every 20 seconds to test the audio visual timelag. It is consistently out of sync by 0.5 sec over 3 minutes on average (+ or minus 0.1 on occasion when using the period/ comma method). I separated the audio/video and realigned the audio to the visual claps, which plays synced to 0.1 sec and reexported the video. Now the exported video plays at the same sync as Camtasia. Problem solved mostly because I can still see the 0.1 lag. I think I could correct this by doing multiple claps (5) at the start and during a recording to find and line up the sound to the action. I'm thinking there will be more lag over time so multiple claps could solve this over time because the video could be split and realigned individually. Problem solved hopefully which makes me happy because Camtasia is easier to use and has a faster workflow rate compared to an OBS/Da Vinci combo. Hope that helps the Techies with potential fixes and advice :)

      Some more to add, the sync issue is still not correctly solved and I've worked out why: It's because the timeline is sectioned into 0.1 of a second which means when you match up a clap sound with the visual clap there are three frames that are scrubbed through. This means there is no way to match up the audio/visual because the sound of the clap is much less than 0.1 of a second. If you want to fix this issue the timeline needs to match the framerate of the recording so when you use the period or comma to shift between frames, they would be moving through each frame which could then be matched to the peak of a clap waveform. This method was thought out by me, Richard Williams on the 19th Jan 2024, and this is now copyrighted, so if you use this, I'll expect a few million dollars for the intellectual property. It would solve your syncing issue and your product, which is good by the way, would sell like hot cakes because it's easy to use.

    The Colours of my photo are changed to CMYK type when I put RGB photo into Camtasia, How can I improve it? Someone help me, please ?

    • @techsmith

      Not sure what you mean. Your photos wouldn't be converted to CMYK as Camtasia doesn't use that. We use both RGB and Hex. Is Camtasia changing the way your pictures are appearing in the canvas? @techsmith  Před 8 měsíci

      I don't see that on the roadmap for Camtasia's future. I'll mention it to the dev team, but that's a very different piece of software if you're looking to do 3D model rendering.

      @BCS-Audio-Book. Same, animations are my aim too. Elevates everything. Here's a conceptual approach, 1. gin up the animation in Vyond, VideoScribe, RenderForest, Doodly, Moovly, Animaker or Powtoon, 2. Export as an mp4, 3. Import to the Camtasia library. 4. Drag onto the timeline.

      No, but you can detach the canvas (by right-clicking and selecting "Detach Canvas) then make that full-screen (though it still has controls around it) and select "Fit" from the percent dropdown at the top.

      @@techsmith 😠Man nobody wants to go through all those unnecessary extra steps and nobody wants to use the detach feature. Just put the fullscreen button back like it should be. And why is the default cursor size larger than normal? 100% is bigger than default windows size and you cant change it to be the default size like it is on pc smh, 100% is the minimum in the new Camtasia 2023 but its still too big, it was fine in Camtasia 2022 stop trying to fix what dont need to be fixed.
