- In this video Andy shares with you the keyboard shortcuts that he uses most frequently when editing content with Camtasia. (And look below for downloadable PDF's with ALL of these shortcuts listed out for both Windows & Mac). Most of these have been here all along, however a few of them (asterisks on the chapter index below will indicate which) are from a more recent Camtasia release.
Whether you're orienting the canvas or navigating the timeline, using your cursor to click on fine details in Camtasia can often prove frustrating or time consuming. Keyboard shortcuts to the rescue!

I edited a video today where the audio and video became more and more out of sync as the video progressed. I had to cut the video into 11 smaller clips, and for each clip, I had to adjust the audio relative to the video. I'm missing a shortcut to move the audio or video on the timeline without using the mouse - for example, with the arrow keys - but I can't find such a shortcut.
@@DolphinConsult this might help, not a shortcut so much, but you could turn whichever track is drifting’s Magnetic timeline on. By the Track name look for the 🧲 icon. That will close ALL gaps on that track. I do this when editing raw footage to avoid lots of empty spaces. However, if you have you audio & video separated into tracks one and two (for example), when you need to adjust the audio (or video, whichever is drifting) you make the two cuts, and delete, and that magnetic track will adjust without bringing the other track with it. (Hard to write; hopefully makes sense).
@@techsmith Thank you, it makes sense. I ended up deleting a fraktion of the video, every 5-6 minutes. My customer promised never to send me a video like that again 😉
@@DolphinConsult It's not the customers fault. It's Camtasia, out of sync audio has been a problem with Camtasia for well over a decade. They cannot seem to fix it. It's disgraceful to be quite honest. They shut down a user forum that highlighted this and other issues.
@@Conumdrum I edit my own and my clients' videos every week and have been doing so since Camtasia version 7 or 8 (that's many years and a lot of videos). This is the first time I've encountered this problem, and it's not a Camtasia issue. The client's raw video was recorded this way. The audio and video are in sync for the first 10-12 minutes, but after that, it just gets worse and worse. I never have sync-problems in Camtasia as long as the audio is in waw-format.
@@DolphinConsult Sorry for the misunderstanding. The problem is with Camtasia recordings. I have clients that send me screen recordings, I add the annotations, captions, animations etc. Plus edit the videos. Long recordings exasperate the problem, TechSmith seems incapable of fixing it.
Trim left and trim right
Single click
Any shortcut?
With millions of customers you'd think Techsmith could create videos that get a lot of view. Most videos fall far short of 5,000 views total, from months ago.
What videos should we make next?
@@techsmith A deep dive into using Behaviors would probably interest many .The instructions are confusing. The way they are timed and controlled must confuse the heck out of amateurs. Frankly, I think their poorly designed because results will vary greatly, based on clip or annotation duration. I can make them do what I want " For the most part " but have been using FX in other applications as well for at least 15 years.
