"Rev" could well stand for "revolutionary." Having recommended Camtasia to clients and MBA students for more than a decade, I found that "high impact in less time" has been the cry. 'Rev' has taken a giant step toward that goal. Your teams are setting a new standard for product enhancement supported by an engaging series of easy-to-follow tutorials explained by passionate presenters. Make that "brand ambassadors." Congratulations to all.
Thank you so much for those kind words, @Branderbob! It means a lot to us that people are seeing the value and hopefully it will help get so much more created in less time!
10 year+ Camtasia user.Just RECORDED 2 MINUTES OF 4K/60 SCREEN, 4K/30 NDI webcam, 32 bit audio from a nice tube large diaphragm condenser. Spent about 30 seconds adjusting the layouts, as the background removal was a bit rough and unnecessary in my studio, and WOW! The only request I would have is more control over audio/ducking, and perhaps I just missed it. Camatasia, you guys have knocked the ball out of the park! On a 7950x AMD/Nvidia RTX 4500 build, the renders flew, and it all feels very stable.
What an incredible testimonial! Thanks so much for saying this. It's easy to just give a thumbs up and move along when something is good, so we really appreciate you stopping and sharing this feedback. Thanks for sticking with us for so long!
@@techsmiththis type of feedback helps me as a former/potential user as well. I first used camtasia in 2004, and have purchased a couple of versions since then when I’ve had a need to create training videos. Now nearly 20 years later I find myself again needing to make training videos and again find the best software option to be camtasia.
Man...this made me get up out of bed. This should help me with workflow. I love this!!!! ❤️ ❤❤❤
Love that comment!! When you're inspired to get up, ooh, that's a good feeling! ENJOY!
Absolutely a Game Changer for teaching classes. Often when you speak in another language, facial expressions are a big part of communication. This combines the teaching and emotive together. Thanks Camtasia Team - Pure Brilliance!!!!
I’m updating as I type, looking forward to trying this, looks awesome 🤩
Wow. Didn't see this update coming. Looks awesome. Can't wait to try these out!
Looking forward to hearing what you think once you get in there and start clicking around! It's pretty amazing to experience once you start using it.
Absolutely Incredible! Thanks for the video and all the work you do!
Very nice, love that you can still edit everything rev does in the editor, this is a great productivity boost and a learning tool also.
Fantastic. Thanks, guys, for all your hard work and updates...LOVE this!
Man... I was skeptical as I started this tutorial but WOW! TechSmith has really outdone themselves with Rev. Bravo!
Awesome, yet another fantastic workload enhancer from Camtasia.
I said in a number of comments in recent videos looking at new features, Camtasia is really helping to enhance how videos are being produced. More efficient processes and features is a winner. And this new feature is another great way to speed up production and give your final product a top end look.
That means a lot to us, thank you so much for the kind words!! 👏
Excellent! This is what I like to see. Getting it now. (Also, to the point explanation by demonstration is very well done.)
I'm Speechless 😲. Thank you so much 🙏🏾
Love it and will definitely be using it!
Awesome! Can't wait to hear if it improves your workflow!!
Thanks for all your hard work! I am looking forward to trying this out!
Needed this. Thanks
Great improvements. I like it.
These are very impressive features. I can see how it saves time for certain projects. You have my attention.
Great job Andy! Rev is simply fantastic. Techsmith is coming through with some impressive breakthroughs. Wow!
AWESOME stuff! Thank you! I've got a voiceover video due and this will be perfect for it!
Just downloaded and installed the update. This is exactly what I was looking for to speed up my process for tutorial videos. This is an outstanding feature and big step forward. Keep up the great work!!
Thanks so much for saying that!! We love to hear people are excited to use Camtasia Rev! 🎉
Super awesome! Thank you!
You're welcome - enjoy!
Amazing - love the new functions going to try it out right now!!
Love this update! Just bought Camtasia yesterday, and I am really excited to explore the software and will for sure use this new feature!
Love hearing that! Let us know if you have any questions along the way!
@@techsmith If I have edited a long form tutorial with16x9 and when finished I want to turn the long form into shorts from that tutorial. What's the best way to go about this?
@@anothercharacter Start a new project, and import or copy/paste the project into the new one (so you save your original long-form). Then, if you're doing verticals, change the project settings to be 1080x1920 (vertical). Align your clips to fit within, and then use the red/green handles to select the section you wish to export (under 60s fro CZcams Shorts, TT & IG Reels don't care as much about timing anymore).
Is that what you're wondering?
@@techsmith Yes! I have tried that before, but I found it to be a bit tricky as my amination like zoom in etc might not be the best option for the short so then it felt like I had to change so much of my edits
If your content goes off the side, you can fill the background to make it work. We made a video about filling a vertical video space a few years back. Here's the exact moment where I talk about it (but do the reverse - in a vertical space, fill it with a duplicated layer of your video) - czcams.com/video/MyKZ0wPSHtE/video.html
This is fantastic!! Love!
This is a huge update, so huge that it could be an upgrade ! Well Done, Camtasia team ! ❤
Congrats to the TechSmith team...this is an awesome upgrade. Thanks.
I recently discovered this just after upgrading from 2022 to 2023 and I agree... it is awesome!
very cool, this just keeps getting better and better! thanks
This looks awesome! Looking forward to trying it out.
Really amazing! Congratulations!
Wow.. that's pretty amazing.
Excellent. Thank you for the tutorial.
Thanks for this video Great!!!
This is pretty cool, I didn't even notice that button but will try it now. I've been using Camtasia for a really long time. Thank you for the support.
This is a really great update! Looking forward to trying it out.
Let us know what you think once you've had a chance to use it!
Will do!@@techsmith
YOU ARE BRILLIANT! So glad I continued my Camtasia subscription a year ago!
Sweet!! Going to try this today!!
thank you for a very informative, short concise update. Just updating my Camtasia now! Kind regards!
Super cool looking feature uplift..! going to try it today..
So excited for this new feature! Thanks for such a clear explanation. Now I want a Camtasia shirt.
Wow, what a great update! I'm curious what "Rev" stands for? Thanks again...love Camtasia!!!
The idea was like "rev your engines." It's going to speed up that workflow!
I've been using it for a while. It was nice to see this tutorial for other ideas.
This is Awesome!
Woohooo, awesome!! 🎉🎉🎉
REV is AWESOME!!! (combine with Audiate and you will be unstoppable)
Game-changer. Thank you!
Great explanation skills. Thank you
Way cool! Can't wait.
THANKS 🙂
Excellent video thanks
This is the most exciting feature I think I am going to love!
Love to hear that! Cant't wait to hear what you think once you get in and start using it!
This looks pretty solid and comes at a very opportune time for me as I start spitting out more shortform videos for my client's social media platforms (TikTok, IG, etc). I'm anticipating that it will take note of existing themes and incorporate them into the suggested iterations.
Now if only the community forums were available again so we could discuss it further! 😄😏🤞🏻
Camtasia Rev won't have your themes available (at least not yet) in the default options in the Rev menu, HOWEVER they're still available when you click "Edit in Timeline" and you can change the dynamic background to be on your theme, or any other assets you bring in. The nice thing is, we didn't get rid of features, we just added a smoother experience to get people started.
I have used and loved Camtasia since the early days when it came out for Mac. I've not upgraded in a few years but Rev is a no-brainer. Sign me up!
I will absolutely be looking closer at this. Awesome!
Can't wait to try it out.
This is so cool! I've been wanting a quick way to float over my videos and here it is!!!
love it!!!!
I love it! This is the biggest jump Techsmith has made with Camtasia in years. Thanks!
What a great enhancement to an already excellent product! Thank you.
We appreciate that Adrian, thank you! 👏
Hey guys, that really good functions in Camtasia. Great job!
I love it. Techsmith is doing some awesome stuff with Camtasia. It's all I use for producing my videos. Keep up the great work!
Looks great
Love it! I see myself much closer to me achieving the potential that I imagined years ago!
Testing it out now. Seems to save a few steps. This could be a real time saver!!! had to figure out that the features shown in the video do not appear until AFTER YOU FINISH YOUR RECORDING. I thought Camtasia Rev settings appeared BEFORE you start your recording.
Sorry if that was unclear. Correct, you're still going to record like always, but then before getting into the editor, Camtasia Rev pops up first. Good call out.
Your company is neat. Thanks
Awesome updates. Can you change the size after you already edit a recording in the camtasia edit window?
Absolutely! Are you looking to change the project size? Like from horizontal to vertical? Or just the scale of the video? For the first one, right-click your canvas and choose "Project Settings." For the second one, click on the media you want to scale, and in the Properties panel make your adjustment. Let me know if that's not what you meant!
Incredible
I am so glad I have been your customer for over 15 years. Keep those revolutionary features coming.
We are too! Thank you for sticking with us! 👏
LOVE IT! This might just replace Loom and Jumpshare for us. We are long-time Camtasia users. Awesome to see this new feature!!
Fantastic! Can't wait to give Rev a go!
Let us know what you think once you do!
Bro... congrats. I have a love-hate relationship with all the bugs and crashing, buy hey, part of the game. With REV... wow! Kudos to you!
If you're experiencing more than what you'd consider "normal" (because we all have that threshold of how much we'll tolerate before it's too much) - let our technical support team know by opening a ticket here: bit.ly/techsmith-help
I'm using a Sony FX3 camera to record my face, do you have a REC709 in the LUT options? or the possibility to add LUTS of our liking?
Ecxellent presentation. The guy answered every single question right in the moment it popped into my head.
Amazing
Grossartig NEWS - herzlichen Dank !
AHHH, thanks for explaining, I've been watching pre 2023 Camtasia videos while trying out this version. I was thinking of not buying it but you have changed my mind. I'm going to hit subscribe and like now, see you soon.
Glad to hear it! Let us know if you have any questions along the way!
Rev is a rev'olution : it makes editing faster and easier, thank you !
I absolutely LOVE Camtasia. I have used every single version as they've been released. Although I am still with the 2022 version, but plan to upgrade to this version very soon. Can you tell me, is there a way to export all video screen records to a higher resolution other than 1080p? I create all my CZcams channel videos using this software, so it would be cool if I was able to export them in higher quality as CZcams compress all videos. Thanks!
You can create any project settings you choose! If your project is set to 4k (3840x2160) then that's what it'll export as. Absolutely!
Awesome feature, and most importantly, you did not try to upsell us. Now consider the same approach for Camtasia Audiate :)
I've been using Camtasia since forever (or 14 years or so :) Year on year it just keeps getting better but it's still a lot easier for my little brain to wrap my head around than any of the others, this Rev thingy might just be my favourite add on yet...
Thanks so much for sticking with us! It means a lot! Glad you like this! 🎉
My office still uses 2021, however, I have the latest version at home. I'm working away for a month, but can't wait to get home to check this out! It looks amazing!!!
Send this video to whoever is in charge of purchasing and talk about the cost of a license, vs. the cost of time saved. ;) But regardless, looking forward to hearing what you think when you're able to use it!
@@techsmith great idea!
رائع جدا والحجم قليل مقارنة بما بعد التحرير
Very cool and the size is small compared to post-editing
Camtasia rocks !!!
This looks fantastic. Is it possible to change the layout in editing? E.g. to use the Rev layout for the intro and a different one for the rest of the video?
I'd love to know this as well. Or can I open it up in Rev again to make a different version with a different layout. That would be handy to make a vertical version for phones and then the wide screen option for people on their computers.
Thats Bad ASS Stuff :)
love it! - bring more AI please
That's great guys! When are we going to use AI to remove silence gaps or the umhs?
We already have that in Audiate, which works with Camtasia videos if you have both pieces of software! Audiate.com
It's great that this update comes at no extra cost. Thanks, that is great!
Seeing the feature, there does not seem to be much AI, however. It is only the background extraction, right? All the other (nice) features are quick links to certain layouts, so nothing AI-based. I was hoping for text->video editing features, such that the video is transcribed and then I can add the transcribed text instead of the video. I thought that this is why you made the extra pause at the beginning of the video to show us how quickly it can be fixed.
Nope, you're correct there is only Background Removal currently that is an AI feature. Though as the dev team adds more they'll get into Rev one at a time.
However, where you'll find text-based editing (that also edits the Camtasia video if you own them both) and much more AI is in our sister product, Audiate: czcams.com/video/8cBSB8AbZ78/video.html
Thanks@@techsmith
This is great. Is this included in Camtasia or is it an add-on?
It's included! If you have Camtasia 2023, check for updates and you should already have it!
This is such a great improvement. Thank you to Anthony from the support team that talked me through all of this over screen share
So glad Anthony was able to help! I'll pass this note along to him!
New to Camtasia, so I may have missed it. Are you able to go back and do multiple "pulls" from the same clip in Rev? For example, exporting one version full size for, say, CZcams, and then a second version in vertical for TikTok?
Not YET, but this is something we're very aware people will want. First step was to launch Camtasia Rev, second step is to release some improvements and follow-through on requests similar to this one. Not sure how long it'll take to implement, but it's DEFINITELY on our to-do list!
I love it. I tried it out. If we finish recording and use Camtasia Rev and then go to edit mode, is there a way to go back to Camtasia Rev? I was trying to go back to the Rev Menu after I finished direct editing, but I didn't know how to return to it. Or do you just have to do all the stuff in Rev first and then when you are sure your Rev tweaks are done and then you can go into Edit in Camtasia because you can't go back?
Right now, you can only use Rev up until the point you “Edit in Timeline.” You can’t currently go back into Rev. so try to do everything you want there first, before leaving that workflow.
@@techsmith Let's say I've accidentally already chosen a format, but it is a greenscreen. Technically, I could export the file as is and then start a whole new recording. Then I could import the previous green screen recording into the new project. So if I'm doing a video tutorial, I could do the 16:9 Camtasia Rev setup. I can then import the greenscreen recording of my narration into the newly created project. That could be a way to get around the preformatted Camtasia Rev of the first video. Does that sound about right?
Looks great! Thank you! I'd love to see the ability to do the text-based editing. Descript's implementation, with removal of filler words is incredible. I just think their editor is less intuitive than yours. Can't wait to see what you add next!
Have you used Audiate yet? Our sister software that has text-based editing, removed filler words and syncs the edits with Camtasia?
Audiate.com for more info. :)
@@techsmith Thanks! I'll check it out!
@Camtasia if you select the portrait layout and go to edit in camtasia, can you then change the layout to square afterwards?
Inside of Camtasia, yes, but you currently can’t go back into Rev to do that.
In Camtasia, right-click the canvas and select “Project Settings.” From there choose Square or 1:1 to adjust the aspect ratio.
very nice video, a question, can I annotate in Camtasia rev?
You can't add annotations from the Rev window, but once you've picked your layouts and such, you can choose to Edit in Camtasia, where you can add annotations and lots of other cool stuff. We hope that helps!
I feel like I'm the leader of the anti-floating head, camera on, screen recording group, but the ease of use while creating a high quality feel might just change my mind. I've always argued that it looked poor or took too much time to not get enough ROI. I think this might change things. Now, I'm just concerned that it's going to encourage me to buy an expensive camera 😂 I'm excited to try this out!
I like Camtasia. I use it often to make my videos. Is it possible to add the Animated Avatar/Character feature. It is going to make things even mre fun and pretty.
Are you thinking like a custom avatar that looks like you, such as Apple/Meta have? We don't have that currently, no, but I'll mention it to the dev team. You can always bring those in from other places, but natively, it doesn't exist.
Is there a way to get hold of the settings of "Camtasia rev" after recording? Would be nice if I made a choice in rev, and then when I edit I might want to have another option for one part of the video. Like if I had the bakground removal on one part, and then the screen on one side and a square video of me on the right?
Coming in the next couple weeks! But in the meantime those settings are possible, just mostly manual. You can find the camera settings all in the visual effects and the dynamic backgrounds in the media bin under the Library tab.
@@techsmith Great! I look forward to it :)
Great feature! Question. Once you tweak in Rev and then go to Camtasia for additional editing. Can I "invoke" Rev again to try other layouts?
Not quite yet, no. We know that’s something people will want though so our team is hard at work on that idea. The ability to import footage into it, or go back into it again multiple times. We’ll see what they can make happen!
@@techsmithcool. Yeah, this is a great feature. Round tripping it would be really challenging. Wanted to make sure I didn't miss that as an option
