I have one of these with the 95 dsg gearbox and it’s honestly great. Just hit 3000 miles and it’s really feeling fruity to drive. It feels much bigger than it is and it is and can relate to it not feeling heavy to drive. I average 50 mpg in normal driving and 60 on the motorway when sticking to 70 mph. Honestly can’t fault it. Such an easy and enjoyable drive.

No physical buttons for HVAC still rules it out for me. Why on earth haven't VW learned yet that everyone hates touch/haptic whatever controls??

It's the safest buy, if you ever feel unsure about certain purchases, then fear not. Buy a polo

So, here I am, new to your channel. I enjoyed the review of the Polo. It’s the car America needs, not the EV’s our “government “ is cramming down our throats. Thanks, RickGTI….. 🇺🇸🌴

I can’t believe the Clio tops the table on wheelbase when the rear is so tiny, they’ve definitely prioritised boot space too much with that one.
I could be tempted by a polo, unless the golf facelift fixes the many issues it has at the moment.

Interested in Mark’s commentary on the 110 3-cyl with 7-speed DSG. I also like the VW 3-cyl but have only experienced the 55 bhp version in an Up! with the ASG automated single-clutch ‘box - a learned and rewarding art in itself to drive well and enjoy. I guess it was the engine sound that I liked most though - certainly it wasn’t the torque! Turbo no doubt addresses that one.
Who uses the paddles on DSG? Well I do (on a Golf) and in spirited driving it adds a layer of fun/enjoyment that “auto” doesn’t equal - lol, the car does not know when a corner is coming up after all! But most of time, yeah, auto is fine.

I don't really like the look around the grill and I agree I'd go for the SEAT if I had to choose from the VAG range.... but a Fiesta if not, it just drives so nicely without being too harsh :-)

Don’t people use the paddle shifters to force some engine braking?

Does it have good plastics? Also I was thinking about getting fabia, I am afraid the polo is not as reliable as fabia, plus the fabia has a 110 hp hp 6 gear speed

Love the Polo but it’s 20k + for a tsi Life. The 110 horse needs a manual and the 1.5 tsi needs to be fitted. Clio is good but body panels wafer thin and rear space is pokey.

Are we going to see a wee little jingle for the 'Fun facts' segment? I hope so.
Ps, I wonder if the Polo would be entertaining on PS5's rather than conti eco contact (read rubbish) tires.

Would never buy VW products shameful way they dealt with their diesel gate. This is still not been resolved in some countries. Cars and customer service is so so. Plenty of superior alternatives out their.

    • @Mancozeb100
      @Mancozeb100 Před 2 lety +3

So, if you'd never buy VW because of diesel gate ... who would you buy? Most (all?) of the others were doing similar, just VW were highlighted first. The others, largely, went under the public radar.

@@Mancozeb100 Most that cheated came clean and owned up VW were the worst culprits as they denied it and customers had to fight tooth and nail to get compensation. They also experimented on animals Some customers are still waiting for compensation. VW also participated in the AdBlue scam too. Avoid terrible company.

Seat, less quality, less space, and imo also doesnt look as good. VW polo R line is 3x better than a seat, just look at the seat interior and then the vw r line full digital cockpit screens, seats, difusers, etc.

The Ibiza looks better (though that's subjective, looks are), has the same quality as the Polo, trades off some ride comfort for some body control grip and agility.
It can be purchased without paying the big premium they charge on the Polo just because it comes with the "VW" label.
Basically, the Ibiza is the best of the two, unless one is of retired age, has serious back issues (which the somehow firmer ride of the Ibiza may make worse), or a very quiet personality.@@michelemm1659
