Mark, as i have said before a VW fan and an Up! driver. As for the Polo, why would you want anything else? R Line spec is the sweet spot. Aspire to a GTi however. It is time for a return to 'compact' ''hatch back'', not least with petrol at £2.00 per litre! No to 'city [so-called] crossovers and back to the like of Polos. Corsas, Fabias and of course Fiestas. Great review Mark. Does it still have drum brakes or have they gone disc brakes. Use to have 1.4tdi polo match. My bug bear with it was drum brakes, handbrake sticking every few months, especially after heavy rain. Had to rock it to release it. copper grease required every few months. Nice looking car.
I don't need the huge boot Crossovers have. I need pleasant handling, that Crossovers don't have, and old-style normal-height cars tend to :). Test-drove a Puma days ago. I did after seeing a couple reviews that spoke enthusiastically of how well it drove. Guess what? It may be the best in its class driving-wise, but it drives less well than an average supermini. It's less pleasant. You feel you are on stilts. You feel it's heavy. The dynamic sportiness is... faked, or at least fake. I just want to forget that test-drive, along with any crossover and SUV in the world.

Agreed on the comfort and size aspect. We have an A1 sline dsg and it’s a great motorway cruiser.
My wife just got hers 2 weeks ago. She loves it.
I bought one last week and it's beautiful and drives very well..like floating on air
