It seems that opening up to your dad with hugs and telling him that you love him Dan is really affecting him in a very positive and profound way... It is a blessing that you get to do that with your father some people don't get the chance. I believe that you being affectionate to him, is making him want to be affectionate more
Dan has said that Ed has always kissed Carrie. It’s just the first time he got it on camera.
I had a patient with dementia last year who was NOT affectionate or friendly at all her entire life. She wasn’t a bad person she was just quiet and couldn’t be bothered according to her family. As a caregiver I find many old folks don’t have anyone to hug them or say i love you to them. So when i see the need and it’s appropriate try to fill that need too. They say you need like a minimum of 3 hugs a day for good health. By the time that woman passed she was telling us all she loved us, she gave us hugs, held our hands, gave us kisses and was a very loving person, completely opposite of what she was like before the disease took over her mind. It was always just her and her son. He cried one daythanking me for loving on her and for everything I did for them. He said he always wanted an affectionate mom all his life and to be blessed to see that side of her her last years of life was something he could’ve only dreamt of. The sweetest thing was the day I came in and she had a rough night and he fell asleep on her bed with her head on his chest holding hands. I took a quick pic and left them sleeping while I fixed breakfast and cleaned up. I gave him the framed pic as a gift after she passed. He said it’s the best gift I could’ve ever given him.❤

Dan has said many times that she does alot for their mom who has a lot of health problems. I think that's a full time job for her!
i'm sure she does. She probably gets a check for being a full-time caregiver. My neighbour gets paid for being her mother's full-time care giver

My Mom's Dad had Alzheimer's and growing up he never gave hugs or kissed my sister's or even say he loved us until the last several years of having Alzheimer's and it was a sweet thing to see.

Dan - these videos are always entertaining and shed light on the disease. We watched my grandmother deal with this for years. She was on the other end of the spectrum. She was either super emotional from being so confused or she was flat out nasty. Your pop seems so sweet most of the time.
Is it me only, looks like Dan is the most loving and caring child, even telling others to help mum whilst he is busy with dad. Dan l pray your patience and love spread to others to look after their parents like the way you do.
