Don’t hate!!! The Range Rover Evoque is totally capable of handling these conditions and much worse. I’m a totally satisfied owner of a 2021 Evoque and have loved every moment in this car. It is fun to drive, beautiful inside and out, and fully safe in terrible conditions depending on the driver!! Also navigation only responds when you command it to “navigate” as in demonstration #2. Overall don’t agree with your review for many reasons as a proud and happy owner of this vehicle.
Well said , I have a 2020 and I totally agree
do you still like your evoque?
Sand mode works amazing for deeper snow like that. It will allow the TC to have more play and stop interference when you dont want it.
I want to see the same Rav4 driver driving the evoque here.
Rav4 will hit the road tree for sure😁😁😁
Rwr
Tyres, tyres, tyres, every time
The evoque with the right tyres is a great vehicle in the snow.
Pretty impressive the way it shifts power around, you can see it’s only stuck once no wheels have grip. Therefore a tire limitation. No way my 2019 RAV4 could do this on its stock tires.
Probably but at the end of the day you need SPEED and POWER
The traction system is amazing. The tires not so adapted for this.
Yea u are right
Your reviews are getting better and better. Great job again. This is what I like, real life experience reviews. Also, you seem to keep your cool in sticky situations and film all that.
Conclusion, all vehicles depend on who is driving it
LOL
czcams.com/video/8MQ-MeH8BXM/video.html
AND putting the right tyres on the vehicle for the job.
Not a lot of legroom he says as I look and see he has LOADS of legroom.
Not entirely accurate - when the vehicle breaks down on a daily basis (and that's what rovers traditionally are good at), your driving skills are irrelevant.
@@nofyfb123we own the 2020 range rover evoque, we have had it for over 3 years and it hasnt broken down a single time
i dont know who told you that range rovers break down
its fake news from land rover haters
yes the old cars do break down, but 99% of old cars do that
I find that the snow/mud mode on my Land Rover often makes the traction control limit power to the point that it stops power completely in super slippery conditions. In these situations, I would switch to sand mode, which locks the center differential and allows the engine to spin the wheels freely and maintain momentum.
Christopher Chan I also use sand mode in super slippery situations.
It helps to switch DSC off.
Christopher Chan - Actually that’s a common problem with many computer controlled braking faux four wheel drive systems such as Toyota’s, etc. The computer gets confused and essentially pukes it’s bits. Mark is right, turn traction control off, restart, and go.
Are you also driving an Evoque? Can you tell me which modes pre-lock the AWD system, so it doesn't start as FWD and just reacts to slipping? is this even possible?
That hill climb without traction control says it all! 😈👀
wow, I never thought the Evoque would get stuck in snow on a hill. But even 4WD SUVs are not impervious to snow and inclines.
Great detailed reviewed...well narrated really enjoyed it.
i blamed the traction control being too agressive at limiting the power
That’s snow mode for you
It did pretty well for the Tyres fitted, Ive got BFG AT2 Tyres on mine could easily get up there
Few mistakes were done:
First You should have used off road mode!
You also should use the sand mode for a heavy snow. The snow mode should be used in a light snow. Keep the momentum without taking your foot off
Right, he is an Idiot, he dont now how to drive
@@UserExperienceVlog How does your Ford Fiesta drive? Just as well, Patel?
@@twilighthan2140 Hahahahahaha
Leave the Fiesta alone. ;-)
so you are saying it has to change to off road everytime when you use sand, snow mode eta?
1:10 I wonder what a “punch from the gecko” feels like 🤔
7:40... Wow that's a first. Nebraska !!! Lol.
PS: I Love your off road tests.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Ryan! Most exciting and interesting review in a while for me. More four wheel/all wheel drive vehicle reviews please!! Looks like the right tires would have made that snowy hill a cakewalk for the Evoque. Can you get a hold of a Discovery and a Discovery Sport? Thank you and keep up the good work!
Quality review!
Appreciate it :)
The back seat seems so small but I love it great review angles
Yall have great content here
Really Very Good Range Rover
Like you your driving...!
@Driving Sports TV reading through some of the comments, I can only say I feel ashamed on behalf of these people. Not only are most missing the point of the offroad test itself, but respond in a manner which is totally unacceptable towards someone who makes the effort to produce these videos. I'm happy about the reviews and hope you continue to do these. 👍 It's not about what the easiest/best way is to drive up a hill here. It's about seeing how the AWD system copes with difficult situations, it doesn't even matter which tyres are on.
Some people just don't know how to use their ears to listen.
I'm sick of people expecting a sports car drive from a Land Rover SUV. That's not its mandate and never was. I
Yeah, I get wanting around 7 for the 0-60, but people really compare it to cars in handling rather than thinking of SUVs separately
If that‘s making you mad think about what the idiotic hollywood celebrities did to the mercedes G class. It‘s been downgraded to a handbag on wheels…
Thank u for this review....
What is the exterior color ?
Hey Ryan, can you get a 2020 Outback Onyx XT or Forester Sport to try on your course with snow? I’m still looking for a Onyx XT review on your home turf. Thanks. Keep up the great reviews.
The snow challenge demonstrates how the system transfers power in slick conditions. Think of it as an incline roller test with variable conditions. If we ran snow tires with more grip, you couldn’t see how the system transfers power as easily. The point is not to get to the top - it’s to show how the system transfers power with various options. “Failure should be our teacher, not our undertaker.”
This version has clearsight mirror which allow you to switch from the tradional rear mirror to a camera system that allow you to have full view of the back side from the mirror!
I just upgraded from a 2017 JGC Limited and bought my first Land Rover- a 2020 R-Dynamic P300 SE Range Rover Evoque. The lag doesn't really bother me. Just like touch screen cellphones, we as humans want everything instantaneous. When we've experienced faster, we expect faster, and then everything else just seems slower. 1-2 second delays aren't bad. I've read mixed reviews about reliability, however, so I'm interested to see how the newer versions hold up. Thanks for the review!
It turbo engine slow . Thought .but after using it for a while it get faster reaction time for some reason or I'm just tripping
What reliability issues are you having? I'm looking at getting a used 2020 so I just want to know what I'm in for
@@hypereric5526 yeah, I thought the lag had to do with it being 4 Cylinders, but once it’s going, I don’t even realize how smooth 80 mph feels lol
@@krismine99 I think there are some computer communication issues regarding ApplePlay when connecting my iPhone with a USB cable. If I’m on a phone call with the USB cable connected, my GPS will freeze. Every once in a while, the top screen will stay blacked out. I haven’t had any issues other than those computer technical issues. My car hasn’t randomly stopped, or not turn on, etc.
@@ssneed7881 phew,
thanks, that's good to hear
I think you pull the rear seat bottom up, then push the seat backs down in order for fold flat.
You need to use the auto terrain response to drive up the snow using cruise controls for speed not the accelerator and when using hill decent it's the same and you don't touch the brakes. It's a weird sensation not touching the pedals but you need to trust the equipment
Ooo my God this is beautiful
Looks like my driving in the snow😂
The most honest review
You can use Hill Descent Control in reverse gear as well all forward
In the manual it states in deep snow to use sand as it’ll give more traction and power
Does this vehicle not have All Terrain Progress Control (ATPC) ?
So, I drove thro snow that deep in a Scottish Glen in 1969 in an Austin Cambridge A60 costing £365 and guess what, all I needed was a big bag of sand in the boot.
"The key is to keep momentum"
"I'm maintaining momentum. 3mph, 2mph now..."
And...it's stuck
Cool. We have Starbucks in Nebraska! Pack your bags because it’ll be a long trip for you. ☺️
i still want one!
Rav4 has diff lock och all wheels, it makes all the difference. i've tried using with and without it.. it's day and night i can tell you.
Did you try the low traction launch or ATPC?
Go back home in reverse mode and get some momentum 😜😜
😁🤣🤣😅😅😅
It would be great if you could control the hill climb with the cruise control button by adjusting it 1 mile at a time the way you can with the hill descent.
I would love to see an Evoque conquer the new course he has!
❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄❄
I would like to see the 2020 Fiat 500x trekking plus model do this.
Charles Brown. What we assume in these videos is that the reviewers know what they are doing...
Which color is this
Will they have those models in MT?
Why didn't you use proper winter tires? Even though you mention having all-season tires which aren't any good in these conditions, most people wrongly blame it on the car that you couldn't make the hill in the first attempts.
No budget to do it. That gets really expensive, fast, to fit every vehicle with snow tires. When we get a million subs, maybe it will be possible.
Might as well have tested a Lamborghini - thats 4x4 so is bound to be brilliant in the snow - not......
Jim Goodwin You’re missing the point. Think of it like an incline roller test. By using tires that provided slip you can see how the system responds to loss of grip on specific wheels. With winter tires the difference becomes less obvious. This was never about *if* it could get up the hill - that’s a foregone conclusion - it’s how it distributes power in the process.
My dream car homie 💓🤓
Good Driver and very good car!!!
I thinking .. wow !
I love this car
On that kind of pavemet U shoud get more agressive snow tires like xice3,LM32,which could help
Not trying to be a backseat driver. But... how does one create momentum when starting off on a snow covered hill?
Do you have any offroad video on bmw x5 n x4?
This is JLR dealer mistake, they should never give demo vehicle without proper tires in wintery conditions! This RR have one of the best AWD money can buy in this category so haters dont jump so fast ;)
We get cars from the manufacturers, not dealers. As we said in the video, the AWD is quite good. In these conditions slip is expected and the system handled it well given the limited traction available. Not sure why anyone thinks this should reflect poorly on the Evoque. What does reflect poorly is the laggy infotainment and awful transmission programming.
Wow!
Considering the Evoque is designed more for high end mall parking lots for ladies, this is not a bad show for the little crossover.
I think this guy comment is so exactly the way i was thinking about this car .
Please do Audi Q3 off road challenge .. Thank you
what color is this? seoul pearl silver?
Any chance you can do a Chevy Trax AWD in the snow?
Kyle Cordiano and the new trailblazer when it drops. I need to see that 1.3 🤔
patience is a virtue.
Should have used all terrain progress control going up there to maintain momentum and focus on steering.
All the vehicles are perfect. Just a need a good driver to come perfect efficience
C’mon catch up!😩😩i feel you
It's a nice SUV but for these roads, you need to make sure you've got enough blinker fluid.
...summer tires the best choice in a mountains!
The time it takes for the touch screen to react to your input is pretty nitpicky. Honestly nobody is in that big of a hurry. That being said I love your real world reviews.
Just found the channel. Great Job!
Tires make a big difference for sure. My 0000 Allroad with Proxes 4s couldn't make that hill!
Go PNW!
Why do I live in the netherlands I have to pay so much tax for co2, In my country it’s at least 15k more I think
why you were going from 5 to 3 to 1 mph going uphill? I would only use hill descent only for going downhill, not uphill
Are the tyres S&M rated ?
nice car!
Good editing and funny bits !
Lucky that Evoque actually worked this time.
I think, after buying a crossover, you should take some off-road driving lessons. Because I saw you have a few mistakes.
Why did you take your foot off the gas at the beginning of the way? 🤔 You should keep the gas pedal constantly and steady. No tugs or stops...
Hu
Going up that snowy hill was error on the driver's part
the rear seats when there down... WTF! there still up
Great video, BUT not using winter tires whilst testing its performance in winter is absolutely stupid...
What is the name of this colour? It looks nice!
In one vedio i saw that u trolled japanes rav 4 . And in this vedio this rav 4 neild it by passing u in front of u and after that u got so nurvous by this offroader beast 😅
Thats amazing😅
you keep saying momentum and I agree. What the world needs are more mentums! Your biggest problem are those crappy Highway tires that the Brits think is what we want. For what its worth, the off-road at the mall gang really wants. Dedicated snow tires would transform it into an off road beast. Even all terrain tires would be an improvement.
Audi q7 please?
Did you work out what you crunched?
Yes, no big deal. Just a rock hitting the undercarriage.
I'll go w an outback for the price
@Benjamin Mathew please spell check that and explain again with the price comparison you speak of
Wow that material inside looks so much more modern and premium than leather. Leather is for old people...
This one looks like RDX younger brother 😂
I cant look at that video, the range rover evoque is absolutly my dream car. I never can buy one of these.... Maybe some day. I hope!
Wait 3 years and buy used for $35,000 like i did. We got one right after the 3 year lease with 33,000 miles.
@@Hector-qt5rn would be a dream come true
The best Evoque review I have ever seen
As a software developer I often get frustrated at comments about touch screen lag. Any system can be programmed to give an instant screen response then make the necessary system change requested such as deploying snow mode (that takes a second or two in any vehicle). But this means the screen is showing you something is enabled before it actually is. I want the screen to tell me what is deployed not what will or might be. In other words, check its on before you tell me it is. The truth is the slowest responding and most dangerous component of any vehicle is the human controlling it.
Does the Evoque have air suspension?
Yes you can get it with air suspension
13:56 enjoy
Is a subaru X mode better than this Evoque AWD?
No. The Evoque has an excellent AWD system.
The evoque starts off all the time in 2nd gear ,only uses first for off road.🏴🚙⛺️
When I saw the sticker for 67k I immediately stopped the video, There is still a Discovery, Discovery Sport, Defender and Range Rover over this thing. Are they crazy ?
Ju M. Those cost even more with these options 🤣
Priced a discovery.. got sticker shock.
@@mcalebeb overall best is the Range Rover Sport for me
