Guys like it, women love it, and everybody wants to go for a ride in it. It's just a great, fun, all-around vehicle. Also, I think y'all are comparing the Evoque to wrong class. Cool to see you review the new 2020 model. This for me was my attainable dream car. I have a 2016 and have loved it. No issues mechanically and i think still one of the the best looking SUVs out. Sure, I can probably watch a new “straight pipes” video in the time it takes the turbo to kick in, but it’s plenty fast for most situations. Enjoy your reviews and look forward to more in 2020!
I have my P250 for 2 weeks now and can 'debunk' some of the stuff in this video which is obviously exaggerated for entertainment purposes. Car is great, high quality, very smooth and quiet ride, plenty of power and responsiveness whenever you need it (flooring it from 0 is not part of that). Not once have I noticed waiting for the infotainment to load up - its there once you're good to go. It does have more lag than other systems but if you dont try to treat it like you're iphone it works just fine.
I’m actually starting to like my moms renegade with that 9-speed now that’s she’s got almost 18k miles on it. Surprisingly quick response to the slap shifter input. I borrowed it while my liberty was at the shop the other day and actually had a little fun bombing over the hills in the snow shifting it myself.
Wife now onto her second Evoque, a First Edition model. Both cars absolutely reliable and a pleasure to drive with the latest styling updates, interior upgrades and new screens definitely making the Evoque a luxury SUV.
Marvin Dujardin actually yes look up there reliability. A real luxury is not wasting your time getting a car fixed so that’s why you buy a Lexus instead 😂
Ever since I saw the evoque coupes in Italy back before we had them in the states it's been my favorite, I keep scoping them out, used, at CarMax but can't bring myself to give up my sporty car for one.
Had a 2013 Evoque Coupe until Oct 2019 only because of a car accident. Never had any problems with the car aside from a passenger airbag sensor needing replacement, and the drivers seat frame squeaking and needing replacement. Never had any engine/transmission/electrical issues. Drove the car from LA to San Fran, Vegas, San Diego and never was let down on any road trips. Unfortunately got t-boned, and car was totaled at 75,000 miles and almost 7 years of ownership. The car was thrown two lanes from a Prius going 40mph slamming into the side of the car. Side airbags deployed and a big dent, but I actually drove the car away no problems from the accident with no mechanical lights on or anything right to the body shop, folding mirrors still worked and the speakers/auto window still worked fine post accident. The tow truck guy said he was shocked how well the car took the hit for the severity of the accident and I thankfully wasn't harmed at all. Went on to buy a 2019 Velar, and had it for 3 months no problems.. been lucky enough to have had great luck with JLR products I guess.
Hypothesis: Over 90% (conservative figure...steadily increasing) won't be able to afford most of the vehicles they review anytime soon and its only really a factor for a serious potential buyer. FE related segments are typically not conducive to augmenting the priority of a YT venture: edutainment-value-per-minute quotient (notwithstanding vehicles falling on either end of the efficiency spectrum thus engendering meme potential).
@@siddharthk.sekher1960 People do care tho. I hear it from my sister all the time. People believe expensive equals reliability and completion about every single cent.
We have the same 9-speed ZF in our Jeep Renegade, it is exactly as laggy of the line, this is because it starts in second gear. Takes time to build up boost, then it goes. If I put it in manual, I can shift down to first, which is super short (for offroading), but it gets you off the line much quicker.
Personally I love it when manufacturers shove as much tech into a car as possible. Really changes your perception of what a car can be. Unfortunately usually this comes at the cost of reliability.
With this specific colour and wheels combination, it's the best looking crossover SUV. But so damn expensive.. cause it is not in the same league with X3, GLC, XC60 and others. Not even the best among the SUV crossovers, especially given the price. Still if I had money to waste, I would def. go with the Evoque 😎
Love all the people complaining about reliability, considering half of the evoques literally have a focus engine and gearbox, And EVERYONE who is complaining about and all their horror stories despite them being about 12 years of age, all landrovers made out of 1998-2009 are very solid and have good quality electronics, or non at all. Everything on their cars is made by Bosch, ford, Volvo, haldex and Borg Warner, and interestingly EVERY major even minor issue on them is caused by an American made part. If you service the car at the regular intervals and change short life parts when needed the car WILL last forever

I feel like a top trim Mazda CX-5 would be able to compete with this easily at a significantly lower price, assuming you are not doing heavy off roading.
I owned a top trim evoque. The interior is heads and shoulders above the top trim CX-5. It was actually more fun to drive too. However, the Mazda power train feels A LOT smoother than the Evoque.
@@lukeiamurdad9055 Yeah, that's what you'd expect for spending that money - the materials and driving experience, what you can see and feel, needs to be good to sell the vehicle, but it's the build quality that you don't see that lets them down.
@@MishMoves Not really seeing much in the way of that infortainment that would drive me to buy that over the CX-5 GTR that I currently own. Also the Turbo is sweet and that 319 lb ft torque is great. I do like the 360 cameras on the Evoque though. Also I'm not a fan of it's looks, but to each his own.
@@isaacjamestea9652 For sure, I think I'd rather drive the Mazda. I prefer performance and fun over comfort (but I also need a fair bit of space), which is why I got a 2009 Mazda6 hatch 6 speed for my first car. I'll hopefully get something rear-wheel drive in the future for fun, maybe an MX-5.
Did you guys notice the engine vibration and extreme turbo lag? I owned an Evoque for a year and I couldn’t believe how unrefined that engine felt. The interior was the nicest I’ve ever seen, but I just couldn’t do it when everything else I drove (rentals, etc) had a much better powertrain for a lot less money. That, paired with some random antifreeze coming through the HVAC vents, led me to trading it in as soon as I could.
The Evoque is a very nice product, especially when you're in the driver seat, but it's competing with the GLC and X3 in price but the X2 and XC40 when it comes to size.
Bought a 2012 Evoque new. Loved the car, didn’t love the constant maintenance and repair cost. Not a deal killer but after a few years it really did feel like a Ford Escape with nicer badges. Sold it and bought a much more reliable Subaru Ascent. The Evoque scared me off of getting a Velar (dream car 🤩). I would definitely get another JLR but it will be a lease, not owned. Mother-in-law just got an Evoque to replace the launch version she had and so much has improved although reliability seems the same as before. Car feels very luxurious but we didn't feel that luxurious while waiting for recovery in a motorway service station.

I took the related car the Disco Sport(same platform) off-roading on easy-ish trails & did very well. Also drove it through some heavy snow & it did well too. My understanding is the new Evoque now matches the Disco Sport off-roading, while the previous model was a hair short. Like the Disco Sport can go through 600mm of water, while old Evoque was 500mm, while the new one is now 600mm. That impressive seeing as it's the sportier of the two. Disco Sport has been pretty solid, minus the bt issue the dealership keeps blaming on our phones being too new for the bt to reliably work. lol
I’ve had two of these cars in a row, a 2013, and now a 2020. I think the car and Land Rover get a hard rep. I’ve really enjoyed both of them. The new one is definitely an improvement. But The lag off the line is definitely an issue and the transmission could be better. That said, it’s in large part corrected by doing a K&N air filter. My car has the active dynamics package in addition to what you reviewed, which does give a sport mode that tightens the suspension for cornering, and allows you to choose between sport and comfort transmission settings as well.
This lost to the x2 m35 in a car and driver review. I was about to get this car, but that review sold me on the x2. Plus, it's fun to beat stock STis in the x2

At that price, you can get an X3 M40i...
Early squad where ya at?
Yuri’s facial expression after he floored it was priceless 😂
i really liked the 3 door evoque , and also the previous was better looking
ENDLESS MONEY PIT 🕳💵
An expensive gimmicky useless vehicle. Perfect for the SUV obsessed car buying public today.
This lost to the x2 m35 in a car and driver review. I was about to get this car, but that review sold me on the x2. Plus, it's fun to beat stock STis in the x2
This car is just drop dead gorgeous
9:04 How about a Lexus LC500 review?
"we live in a modern society"
Contextual steering wheel buttons seem like the worst idea for driver awareness but I can see how you guys said it gets easier. Jesus, car companies chill!
I have a 2007 Freelander 2, and still running today. I can’t say it is a reliable car. Its parts started to fail from the age of 8... aircon compressor, in-take valve, rear cushions, door locks, and radiator cooling fan control module last week....
someone i knew had a land rover with the same engine. it was a 2018 and the engine needed to be rebuilt from the ground up at only 20K miles. POS. dont buy these
great vid guys!
I’ve been waiting for this video for soooo long!!!! THANK YOU GUYS👍🏼. Love the channel, never miss a video♥️
I simply absolutely love this channel very informative and these guys gives you a youthful view review you know what I mean, as a guy I love to listen to their opinion
The lag on ALL of those screens is just ridiculously outrageous!!
And the transmission! I’m screaming at my phone like an angry mom! Like, come tf on Land Rover!

That's Jakub
@@TheStraightPipes my bad then 🙃🙃.....Thanks for replying though 😍😍
Can this intro music just follow me throughout my life?
Misaligned taillight at 8:58 stresses me out.
Reliablity has left the chat
That cliche corner shot around 1:45 was fucking fantastic my dudes.
I don't know if this has already been adressed here or you already know, but your sound is distorted. Not by much, and only when you raise your voices. But I think it's worth looking into. Especially since it's on multiple videos. Cheers and Grüsse from Hamburg, Germany.
Push the shifter to the left and that’s sport mode.
looks muscular and fabulous easily one of the best looking suv..
Nice premium tata. Anyone else notice the front and rear bumpers color don't match with the rest of the body 8:31.
Hoping you guys start to do comparison/rank videos once you guys run out of cars to review haha. Really curious as to what your rankings are for every car segment since you guys seem to reference other cars a lot when doing reviews.
I always get the notification for these videos like exactly 10 minutes after
