Good tip on the plate to cover holes in base plate. Maybe an empty tea candle tin upside down could do the same & get the fuel cube closer to the bottom of the pot. Small but sturdy stove. Thank you for sharing Clive.

      Thank you Sven.
Your idea is a good idea too.
      They are a sturdy stove.
      All the best

Brilliant and sturdy little stove! I keep a little tea light in the bag - the small ones fit snugly in the stove. Definitely recommend it for EDC

It took over 12 minutes to boil a cup of water because the EDC stove puts the pot too far from the Esbit tablet.
The ultralight Esbit ST11.5Ti, the worlds lightest and smallest (when folded) cooking stove, is the best stove to use with solid fuel tablets as it is designed to place the pot at the ideal distance from the tablet. I say tablet and not cube, because I don't use Esbit tablets with mine...They are far too expensive.
I use Strider Tablets, that are round in shape, not cubed. They are lighter (7g per tablet, vs 14g per Esbit cube), easier to store and carry, as they are smaller, and they are much cheaper...24 tablets are only £3.98 on ebay.
You can fit 8 of them in a empty Berocca/Multivit tube, and these will slide easily into a pocket or even the most tightly packed rucksack. The latter tubes keep the tablets in perfect condition too because they are rigid, (virtually unbreakable), watertight, and airtight...So obviously keeps any fishy odours from the Hexamine permeating into spare clothes in your rucksack too. Whatsmore, the Esbit stove, not only packs a lot smaller, but it's about 6 1/2 times lighter (12g vs 75g) and it's less than half the price of the Bushcraft Essentials
    EDC BOX stove: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Esbit-Ultralight-Titainium-Solid-Fuel-Stove/263676067242?epid=23012037451&hash=item3d64517daa:g:owUAAOSwxCFa9ELK
I also recommend you ditch that massive and heavy folding Aluminium windshield and use an ultralight, rollable, Titanium foil wind shield instead: It packs to about the size of a large tip marker pen, but only weighs 15g...That's 20 times lighter than your wind shield!!! And like the Esbit, it's cheap too: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ultralight-Outdoor-Camping-Titanium-Stove-Wind-Shield-Screen-Windproof-UK-P0J9/112964947397?hash=item1a4d3c4dc5:m:m2MwgWdyNqEZ7LMijaPgE5g&frcectupt=true

Sure is compact, no matter the heat method I think you always need a wind shield for burn length effectiveness.

Lots of small parts to lose, doesn't look very stable and 12+ minutes to boil about a pint of water?
I might keep something like this my emergency bag, but I can't imagine using it as my primary stove

That's where it is going to end up, in my emergency back too. For something so small it is still useful.
