    PREPAREDMIND101 Just take a carabiner in your left hand and the single parts of the EDC Box in your right hand... Then take a look at the hole drilled into each section! ;-)
    Neat little feature I'd say!
    The EDC Box also makes a perfect desk item in combination with a tea candle and a (stainless) sup of coffee. Just saying...
    Greetings,
    Andi

    Thanks for the review. I have this little stove in my EDC emergency survival pack. I also agree it's too small to be a long term survival item. I tried using a little tea candle to see if it would be able to bring a cup of water to a boil but it only got warm. It will be great to keep a large metal cup of tea/coffee warm in your office/home. Not only will it look cool but it will also keep you connected your preparedness.

    The water would've heated up significantly faster I suspect if you'd removed the cross-piece pot supports. They were not needed to support this pot, and they raised the pot significantly above the burning Esbit tab. Also, I would recommend always covering a pot that is being heated over an Esbit tab. The fumes are bad and will taint whatever is in an uncovered pot, in my experience.

    Cool little item! I have the smallest Esbit stove they make, and I'll use one Esbit tab to get it going, and then feed it little sticks. This will get my water or canned food to a boil. This also saves my fuel tabs.

It isnt boiling but it comes close. And the cup holds. A fueltablet might even work better but I havent tried that yet. greetings from The Netherlands 🙃

    'Thats plenty hot for tea.' No! Take it from a 55 year old Brit - water for tea has to be boiling and then you need to steep (we say brew) your tea for 5 minutes. Trust me you will notice a difference in flavour. Great little stove by the way. Tempted but I already have so many.

    Any advantage over this when I'm already carrying the Pathfinder School's stove that wraps around their water bottle? Why choose one over the other?
    I was watching to see if it was going to destroy his table top. Would this work if you didn't have an absolutely flat surface to sit on?

    • @GaryGoldberg-DigiMark
      @GaryGoldberg-DigiMark Před 10 lety

      The one I have came with the whole PFS bottle kit -- it's the bottle stove. I'm guessing they will both do a good job, but the fold-up stoves provide a lifted surface to burn on, where the bottle stove burns right on the ground.
      Good time to say -- thanks for the entertaining, informative videos.

    • @NorseAlpine
      @NorseAlpine Před 10 lety

      Well the Pathfinder Canteen Stoves are more to have something to stand the cup on though you still have a generic open fire underneath. These stoves are build to contain the fire and to allow air to flow in from underneath. So they are safer and more efficent then an open fire while the Pathfinder ones aren't. Not saying ones better, they just are completly different so in my book there is a reason to get one of these (I'd recomend a bigger one than in the video lol)

    Nice video! Also, I think I have a theory on the dislikes it has earned. Given that this is a British company, your American attitude as to the proper temperature to brew tea is probably the reason. I have been told the the water is most definitely supposed to be boilING, not boilED when it hits the leaves. They take this very seriously. The proper technique when using a pot involves swishing boiling water in the empty teapot so as to warm the pot. This water is then discarded, the leaves are added and more boiling water is added.
    Your suggestion that there is a difference in temperature for brewing tea and disinfecting river water probably had them throwing popcorn at their computer screens and cursing.
