The thing I respect about maxi scooters is that they generally have very large tail lights. I wish this were a more common feature on motorcycles -- it's good to be seen by the people behind you.
It's a shame that the Tmax 530 is missing.
wheres gilera gp 800?
Nice review, but without having a Yamaha T-Max in the review a lot is left out.
BMW is always top notch on build quality, Suzuki is the " Smooth is more" ride. The Silver Wing is anemic. Kymco, just too new and needing refinements.
I may be partial, since my Tmax '09 has been a great ride for me for the last 3 years.
Oh, to the folks that say" Get a real bike..", try a Super Scooter. I am 50, I commute 40 miles a day on my Tmax. The ride is easy, and the storage built-in under the seat fits my lunch, then my helmet, and I can get 50 plus MPG. I am happy..
had a 2012 yamaha tmax 530 and i gotta say the new 2013 suzuki bergman executive is much better machine and has alot more power than the tmax
There is a new model for the silver wing for a few years, why is the old model is tested?
روعة الصراحة kymco 700 صكت عليهم
Fuck 2dL, like!
does the BMW have USD forks?
Where is the aprilla model! Haha
What happened to the T-Max?
there is no tmax in American market anymore, only Europe.
Before I trade up to what I have now, I really had the scooter bug up my ass. The service guys at my Yamaha dealer and they sell Kymcos too, told me they were "dirt magnets," expensive to maintain and advised me against the notion. I bought a 950 Touring. I still like scooters but someone would have to give it to me. I enjoyed this video and give it a thumbs up.
Very good video!
I'd like one. But way too expensive.
To all the knockers, one day you reach you're 50s and Aurther Ritus insists on been a passenger, that's when you'll get Scooters!
These are all great rides. Especially if you're hauling a bunch of stuff and need highway speed. But for the price, I'd be happier with a small scooter (125 - 250) for zipping around town, and an older touring bike (BMW Boxer, etc.) for highway use, except I'd need more parking space, insurance & maintenance $$$ and such for 2 bikes. These do pretty much everything except off-road.
Interesting. Silverwing=new? The name isn't really new but perhaps it's new as a scoot, rather than an mc. Looks like your BMW came out the top winner.
Lin the Silverwing name was resurrected for the big scooter. It's a frame mounted twin whereas most scooters have a big single swinging with the rear axle like your smaller scoot. So the Honda had better ride/handling than the other mega scooters.
When you start talking this much money for a scooter, it makes so much more sense to just get a motorcycle.. I don't understand who would ever want something like these
especially since for the money you could get a perfectly excellent used motorcycle, AND a used 50-125cc scooter, if thats really your bag.
A lot of people want the motorcycle experience but are put off by certain elements such as lack of storage, lack of confidence in shifting, or physical issues in their legs/feet that make shifting difficult or impossible. I'm not hot on the look of a maxi scooter, but I don't have any problem with those who ride them.
You are paying more for touring motorcycles and a scooter is more comfortable and more nimble in urban environments.
The mega-scooters have most of the utility of a touring bike: with a top-box the storage of a Gold-wing, but: Cost less; amazing fuel mileage; much cheaper insurance; better handling in town, parking lots, etc.
I had a Majesty 400. I'd outrun everything with 4 wheels off the line, max out at 135 kmph on the freeway, and I just LOVED the pi**ed off looks on the faces of the Harley riders when I passed them on corners and they couldn't keep up ... with a freakin' 400cc scooter getting 70 MPG!
Insurance cost $1/day with collision. Here in BC it almost doubles when the engine goes over 400cc.

Where the Yamaha T-Max?
In Europe, not in America...
Kevin Duke
Really? We have them in Canada. Pricey, but in the range of these others.

10 grand for that shitty thing is just ridiculous. Buy a real motorcycle.
Some people like scooters dude, don't be a hater. My grandad can't straddle a motorcycle for long periods of time anymore and he's looking at getting a maxi scooter
Andy K I'm not hating, just saying that 10 grand for that type of thing is ridiculous.
In Europe people buy such things to get to work (wearing a suit or smart clothes) and not to have any problems with traffic jams, parking etc.
Buying a scooter to enjoy riding is just a ridiculous idea, whereas buying it for commuting is a great idea IMO.
What all-purpose touring motorcycle with loads of luggage space and full auto can you get for 10 grand?
Julian Bond "Touring motorcycle". That scooter isn't a touring motorcycle. Yes you can do that, but that's just pathetic. It isn't a motorcycle. It's a scooter.
am I only one hates maxi scooters?
I hate all of them, the mini ones and the maxi ones hahhahahahahaha
These machines are just fucking sad.
