    Years ago (probably 30) I painted shutters with spray paint. In the next few years I lived in that house they held up just fine. I’m getting ready to change the color of the shutters on the current house I’m in. I agree, the type of Rustoleum you show in the video is the way to go. I’ve used it for literally painting bricks and it’s held the color. Really good paint. Great video.

    I did this about 5 years ago and my shutters faded pretty fast again. It's bc the sun rises on the front of my house and it gets really hot in the summer here in TN. I'm gonna try to coat them with some UV Protector Spray this time to see if my paint job lasts longer.

    I have those old stackable plastic or resin chairs, you know those ugly green ones and I used this spray paint for years! Holds up great even though they are in the sun a good part of the day. I’m nervous about the shutters though because I’m going from black to white. Front and back needs to be sprayed right? My biggest concern is not chipping but running over time. Is that ever an issue with spraying shutters ? We’re painting the house as well and I don’t want to have it running in a newly painted house. Nice video by the way! Thanks. One more question sorry. The house also has metal shutters. Can you use this same paint for them or get the regular rustoleum?

    • @MelvinZoopers
      @MelvinZoopers  Před 2 lety

      Thanks for the nice words. I would say that this paint will work on those metal shutters but you should read the can for sure. If you keep the can moving & don't over do it there should be no running.

  • @greggf.1393
    @greggf.1393 Před rokem

    I saw you comment that they aren’t holding up very well 3 years later. Is it because they’re fading, peeling, or both? Any ideas on how you could’ve made it last longer? What’s the weather like where you live in the summer and winter? I just replaced my green shingles with a black metal roof. I was going to spray paint my faded green shutters with a black paint.

    • @MelvinZoopers
      @MelvinZoopers  Před rokem

      The shutters are fading not peeling at all. Most of them that I repainted are in direct sunlight. Summers can be very sunny & hot. The winters are very harsh. I have the paint to give them another coat but I never got around to it this summer but I will in the Spring. I think if I just give them another coat they will be fine. I am not sure of what I could've done differently. Good luck!

      You have to keep in mind that they are attaching thru vinyl siding and possibly insulation board to get to the wood sub-structure. With high wind gusts during storms, you don’t want your newly repainted shutters to be ripped off your house!
