- Welp, this was my second time traveling to the United Kingdom so I thought I had it all down to a system. A split second wrong decision almost ruined my entire trip, because of course it happened on the first day.
It's embarrassing, but I wanted to share because it's probably my number one piece of advice for anyone traveling with a disability and any type of mobility aid or device that requires charging. Do your research!

As long as you’re ok, the fact you were able to find the correct charger was a bonus.
couldn't agree more!
Please be safe , watch out for pickpockets, and money changing scams.
God bless
Mike .
When travellling in England you need a stepdown transformer to stepdown their power ftom 230 volts and 50hz to the North American 110 volts and 60 . The transformer will also adapt from an English socket to an American. Glad things worked out in the end and BOO to the guy who overcharged you, that was kind of a pun.😁 Always have Blue Cross travel insurance just in case you fall ill while on vacation.
Experence is always the best teacher. I'm glad the result turned out good and I hope your trip is amazing. Wishing you all the best.
THING I LOVE is We all know That one Kid Gonna watch this..
Sorry that someone spoilt your trip over here. We're not all like that...... but love seeing your warm smile..... something to look forward to. I'm learning a bit about you and how you cope. Be safe and keep brightening our days ...❤
Thank you for all your hard work. Also, thank you for caring about your appearance, you always look so nice! 😘❤️🙏
I'm glad you shared this experience. It'll be so helpful for others.
💖💖💖
Glad everthing worked out for you and you had a good trip despite the issues with your scooter. It had to be very stressing!
Ahhh, your so awesome. Heart of thankfulness in all matters in showing how to overcome impossible circumstances. Everyday growing more love for you, your residence inspired people to not give up. Showing determination of the heart loving life everyday. Today is all we have with certainty, yesterday a memory, and tomorrow an opportunity. Very bright loving women, gorgeously grateful.
Thank you for sharing !
You never asked me to go with you ❤❤❤
next time!
Thank you for sharing that info. I hope to go to Scotland and Ireland next year with my scooter . I will definitely research that.
Glad you got the right charger connection ! €100 is not a high price to pay by European or even American standards. 🤗
Glad you got it worked out!! I went to Ireland a few years ago and loved it!!
thank you me too! I LOVED Ireland! So glad you got to visit too!
What a nightmare. I have only had one crazy trip with my scooter. It was Washington DC. So sorry you had issues
oh no! I'm sorry you had a similar experience too. I can say, I definitely learned a lot from this trip so hopefully it won't happen again!
Have a great time lovely xx ❤
Prayers
I have thought about that and getting a second battery would be a good idea . I would hate to think if using my electric wheelchair and my battery ran out that i would ba stuck.
Have a nice trip. 😊
thank you!
Happy that you fixed that dilemma, I'll hand it to the usaf they told us before hand what to expect in the 🇬🇧 and also when I got stationed in Iceland, I follow a few people in Ireland so I'll be watching your trip there, new york
Thank you!
Sounds like you maybe had a defective converter, Glad everything turned out OK and hope you're having a great time!!!😀
Thank you! I'm glad it all worked out
Wow that's crazy I didn't know there was a difference
You can buy chargers that change automatically. But they're not cheap
i remembe once i went on holiday and i actually left my charger at home so i had to get it delivered to my hotel
Nice
Once at home i hope scoots get a full complet maintance rebuild service check. At worst ot might be time for a new scooter
I consider myself a fairly experienced traveler - 4 continents and 30+ countries however in 2016 I headed to Spain w 2 chargers and converters including 1charger with a UL listing of 110-220 VA. In theory that did not need a step-down converter (which weighs a lot). At a Hotel Collection property in Madrid so everything was up to snuff or so I thought. Plugged in converter and charger - dead, nada nothing. Unplug converter and plug 110-240 charger in directly - POP! End of life for that charger. Had backup slow charger with step down converter that I made do with until finding a pharmacy that sold EU 240 chargers for Quickie/Invacare chairs and paid 187 Euros for it - each time I go to Europe it comes w me and my backup charger - best investment made!
European generators are on 50 cycles per second U.S generators are on sixty cycles per second The systems are different
I learned the hard way! Thank you
Glad you had a great time 🎉
Chelsea See if you perhaps can get a dual voltage charger that's compatible with your scooter for next time.
Hi Chelsea nice to meet u
be safe
Whoa!
Glad things worked out. It really sucks when anyone takes advantage of someone. Maybe karma will bite them at the opportune time.
Glad it didn't ruin your trip or dampen your spirit. With that beautiful smile, they should've given you the charger.
God bless y'all and stay safe on your travels.
Greetings from England! You're not the first visitor to do this 😅
I can only imagine! Hopefully this video will help reduce the amount of people that go through it LOL
I’m a bit surprised that your scooter doesn’t have a built in converter similar to all laptops. Look into a better quality scooter for international travel.
I'm glad it turned out for you. I always wondered if i should take a converter, but it was fine in Paris and Amsterdam. Maybe the UK is different?
Definitely take a converter!
The UK and Ireland have the same voltage. Continental Europe is different. An inverter is needed
❤❤❤❤
I’m jealous..about thr trip Chelsea
Fortunately my husband calculates the voltage issues for me and every vehicle we own travels with inverters and chargers for my mobility scooter and powerchair (cos of course they're different).
Sorry you got charged so much but unfortunately specifically disabled equipment attracts a premium. Infuriating
Thats why I walk through the airport and just rent a scooter when I get to my actually vacation place. I will continue to do that way. Cause If it’s not yours you can just rent a new one and don’t have to waste so much money and time
Just think how much fun you wouldn’t of had if this problem hadn’t have come up. Got a chance to experience a new issue with Scoots and a chance to talk about it with your fans. Thank you.
For sure! It's a great lesson and story to share. I got so many stories out of this trip!
@@realchelseabear you have good communication skills to tell them
Been to Dublin Ireland thru the airport. Got some Irish in my blood from Daniel Boone and Davy Crockett, historical names in history. No I'm not like them. Just an ordinary guy.
We grow through, what we go through! Glad everything worked out! Sorry to hear though that your trip started so stressful. Thank you for sharing this experience.
Love from California🏔️🌲☀️🩵
Ps. Will you be sharing a vlog of this trip!?
Couldn't agree more! Yes I have so much content coming out over the next few weeks! Just posted a new one :)
If this young lady is single it's because she wants to be. She's absolutely gorgeous.
lol thank you!
Just post your scooter model/make and i will tell you what charger you need for wherever you go and where to get it. Also Chelsea are you related to the famous Ralph Bear video game inentor?
I'm not related but I'll need to look him up! And I'm back home now and my scooter is fixed, but thank you for the offer!
In the United States is 120 different countries are 240 v
I learned the hard way lol but sharing to help educate others!
I miss talking to you Chelsea bear i really do miss you so bad
❤❤ solar powered charger maybe ❤❤❤
You said it cost you €100 (Euros in case the symbol didn't come thru). But England is NOT on Euro currency but Pound Sterling. Did you mean it cost you 100 pounds? Or did you seriously mean he took Euros from you (last time I was there I had Euros AND Pounds but used Pounds everywhere)? If the guy took Euros then he did that for a reason (no doubt to send home to mainland Europe or something odd like that. What a total bummer that you had that incident with the Scooter. Hopefully it did NOT ruin the whole trip for you. It's still amazing that despite your situation and all the extra work involved for you to do big trips like that, you went and no doubt had a fantastic time when all was said and done, despite the battery and electric current issues. Hope you had a fantastic time in Dublin. I loved it and toured numerous locations in Dublin itself, as well as around the country. Super nice people.
I meant to say pounds, oops! thank you for catching that. It thankfully did not ruin my trip and all things considered it all worked out! Thank you so much!
❤ hello dear. After a long time I have seen you. I am too happy to see you .
When you get home, have your battery and scooter checked. If the charger was right you shouldn't have to reset the scooter. Better safe then sorry later.
I brought it to a local mobility store when I got home and they did a full diagnostic. My scooter had some other connection issues too, I think the wires got loose from the plane and cobblestone, but thankfully they were able to fix everything and it's been running smoothly since. I wish I thought to bring it there before my trip though! Thank you for the advice.
You coming to Dublin ! give me a call Ill show you around,
Sounds like you need new batteries for your scooter, praying for you 🙏
thank you! I got everything fixed now that I'm home!
You're so pretty.
thank you!
Ouch, sorry for getting ripped off, not representative of the UK as a whole.
Sadly untrue when it comes to disability/mobility equipment. Personally whenever possible I buy stuff for baby or pet equipment. Much cheaper
You did nothing wrong. Shame on the shop merchant for taking advantage of your predicament...He should be reported...Glad that your ok.
thank you. I should probably right a review lol
Cutie
He should gave to free your to beautiful to pay what a fool
Have you tried stem cells for your cp
Sorry that you got ripped off for the charger!thats a typical British 'welcome to the uk?'glad you got sorted and charged up?now you take yourself and that beaming smile onto the next adventure?😂😂
It's not a typical British welcome to the uk dumbass 100 euros, which is £85 and the right price for a great quality charger
IS IT COLD YALL? Lolzz You forgot. Grampa sushin humidity I think he stranded. At Orlando international
Ti voglio bene😊.. sei grande ❤😂😊
GOOD ADVICE CHELSEA KEEP IT IN MIND
