#MarioKart - Hry
I love seeing music evolve over time, especially bangers like this one.
The music kinda got worse here
@@Mr_bukowski4435 Ok 👍🏽
I absolutely love the new Kalimari Desert music and I don’t know why
Factoring in bias, this is easily my favorite BCP course so far. Bummed we probably won't get any more 64 levels, but this was a great addition
This version of N64 Kalimari Desert only has 1 train like Kalimari Desert 2 from Mario Kart Tour, although this train moves at a high speed and is faster than the previous trains. It also combined both the original and the rerouted version from Mario Kart Tour into 1 big track. Lap 1 starts normally, then at lap 2 the route follows Kalimari Desert 2 and lap 3 has you either go back to the main route from the 1st train crossing or continue on the train tracks to the 2nd train crossing. Some pipes are even added to the top of some of the mesas.
Yep, this is all touched on in the video! Thank you for the summary!
It’s really a 2 lap course now, lap 2 is just longer than lap 1
5:53 I love the Yoshi foot print in the billboard here. It proves how many toes Yoshi has.
Kalimari Desert was best remembered for 2 things: The locomotive music, and the locomotive itself.
The main problem I have with this version is the trick ramp on the second lap. It doesn't need to go that far up and is rather unnecessary. Just move the arrow field to block off the main road and put a trick ramp in the cliffside gap a ways from the road. Also put some item boxes or something on the left of the tracks so there's a reason to go there.
Agreed, the trick ramp really ruins the overall aesthetic.
Not to mention it appears out of nowhere for the second lap and then disappears again during the third lap. It's jarring and honestly shouldn't be there.
No one me Being irritated about the boost panel not being the shape of an arrow in Mario circuit three
It ain’t a big deal, but it’s also a bit weird, GBA Mario Circuit has an arrow shaped boost panel, and Wii’s version of SNES Mario Circuit 3 even has the original yellow arrow panel from the SNES
I’m exaggerating
When I was a kid, I always stop for the train because traffic laws exist in Mario Kart. But nowadays, I take the star shortcut that Nintendo intentionally put there for some reason. Which makes the question; did they make the change to race on the railroad as a nod to the star shortcut?
Yep, that's what was suggested! 1:33
That and it seemed like Nintendo was aware that everybody that played Mario Kart 64 went on the tracks for the hell of it when they were kids. So Nintendo was like, "Let's do that again, but this time, let the track be actually part of the race."
Am I the only one who thinks 07:09 sounds like an Ocarina.. like a throwback to the N64 like the train is/original course is from?
The ocarina of time perfectly brings this course back to its routes.
It's also the best song remaster for any DLC course to date. No contest!
I misread that, and thought you said it sounded like a song in Ocarina, because it does to me.
Familiar from somewhere besides this racetrack.
Maybe! There are different kinds of ocarinas, and one appropriate for that region would be a Peruvian clay pendant ocarina, but ocarinas tend to have a very muted sound, and I heard slight brightness to this woodwind with humanisation very akin to that used when playing the shakuhachi. I'd love to know the official answer.
@@tetravega567 @Peach Toadstool well, in all honesty I am not a music instrument expert. It just reminds me of the ocarina/songs from ocarina of time and I thought it just encompasses N64 all the more better.
I just wish this game had a in game soundtrack to listen this good music.
Always nice to see no stone turned as always. Great job.
Thank you!
We need tracks from Double dash mario kart such as Marshroom city, Daisy Cruiser, DK Mountain, Browser castle and Nintendo 64 tracks to that haven't returned to Mario raceway and Luigi raceway, Frappe snowland, Sherbet land, Banshee Boardwalk and Ds mario track Airship fortress to...
I seriously hope nintendo release a new mario kart 8 album covering all the new dlc tracks after they are in the game because the original club nintendo cd is so good to listen too the MK8D has some of the best music no doubt I would play the kalimari desert theme on repeat the flute solo is gorgeously done
When are you going to do “All Changes & Differences in Waluigi Pinball! - Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Wave 2 Analysis”?
Soon!
Boy, this classic course sure got boosted up in MK8DX!
Tbh this track is very nice looking and the music is great however I find all the blocked off sections to be quite restrictive. I remember in the older games you can go wherever you want as long as you didn't fall off. Like Royal Raceway from the N64 MK you could go off track and go to the entrance of Peach's Castle.
I enjoyed going down memorial lane, good video 👍👍
Glad you enjoyed! Thanks a bunch!
The new Calamari Dessert is great and explores areas I’ve always wanted too like the Train Tunnel and Tracks. The downgrade is the music removing the Dessert Vibe entirely. I don’t like it
Nice ✨️
The BCP version of Kalimari Desert is one of the best desert tracks in the whole MK series imo.
Not really a fan of the mariachi. The original instrument was a much more clear reference to The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. Now it’s… different for the sake of it
What happens if you stay in lap 1 right before the ramp would be in lap 2 when other racers are in lap 2?
The ramp only appears for people on that lap.
You would see them drive up into the air if you were still on Lap 1.
Nothing changes on your end, and racers will appear to drive into the air. All of the barriers and ramps that change between laps are client side. Also, If you drive the track backwards, all of the obstacles will appear in reverse order (so lap -1 takes you back through the tunnel, lap -2 adds the large metal ramp, and lap -3 looks like a normal Kalimari desert lap.)
@@JohnTK Cool! Thanks
Not gonna lie... I have mixed feelings about the update. I definitely don't like the new song; it doesn't sound nearly as "Western-y" to me. I feel mixed about going into the tunnel; it's cool going all the way through, but it takes out some of the fun of going out of bounds. One humorous side effect; the ramp to the tunnel is only on Lap 2, so when I nearly lapped a player they appeared to be driving on an invisible ramp.
It's a bit less on the 'western' side now, but translates fairly well to a different western desert or even inspiration from the Atacama Desert in Chile. It's a bit interesting, but maybe someone can create an alternative more in line with the original.
Might be just nostalgia but I prefer the original mix of the theme over the new one. But that's a common thing for me when dealing with rearranged soundtracks.
Does the ramp activate when the first player enters lap 3? So now, the ramp is there for players even 1 lap behind?
Props are invisible unless you're about to hit them yourself.
If you just wait at the crossing, when they come around for Lap 2, they'll drive into the air from your POV.
@@tetravega567 Wow, that's kind of a weird solution.
@@Tutajkk50 I didn't make the game :/
What happens if a player remains so far back that they would still be in a section of track which is blocked off when the other players advance far enough ahead? Like entering the tunnel in lap 2, while other players trigger lap 3? How do they handle this when someone i.e. just stops there?
The track doesn't appear to change for you, so you'll see players floating into the air as they take the ramp that you can't see
MMM interesting
The pipes look sort of out of place but imagine if it was a hint at this being a level of some sorts in a new game
It chain in Mario kart sometimes
Oh hi 👋
1 train
I just wanna know about Mario Kart 9
This is Mario kart 9
Nein!
Just type Mario Kart Tour, thank me later
@@Watermelon74 Lol no. I love Mario Kart 8 Deluxe but damn son it’s a 2014 title. I think it’s time for a new one. Even though they’re obviously milking this game
Nintendo doesn't like making new games
The N64 version is still the GOAT but the one we have here is quite exceptional
This is really late..
First comment?
Nope, you're second.
First
Nope, you're third. 🤦♂️
