- I don't use multi-pens that often, but when I do I demand the best. So what's the top multi-pen right now? Here are some of my top picks!
My favorites:
- Jetstream 3 Color Slim Compact: • Jetstream 3 Color Slim...
- Hi-Tec-C Coleto 2: amzn.to/2EhSniP
- Hi-Tec-C Coleto 3: amzn.to/2E6KV9Z
- Jetstream 3: amzn.to/2ErFaVR
- Energel 3: amzn.to/2U5NoIm
- Zebra Sarasa 3: amzn.to/2ErKJUd
- Jetstream Prime 3+1: amzn.to/2BPDZgZ
Stuff that's not bad, but I like less:
- Jetstream Prime 3 Color: amzn.to/2ErxUcw
- Jetstream 4+1: amzn.to/2GYaXiF
- Rotring Quattro Executive (vintage)
- Hi-Tec Coleto N line: amzn.to/2GYimia
- Zebra Sarasa Select: amzn.to/2BS0hPs
- Hi-Tec-C Coleto 500 or 1000: amzn.to/2ErsQ7Q / amzn.to/2GYmXkk

Also, the Hi-Tec C Coletos have a mechanical pencil feature as well as an eraser feature that isn’t on top. I have a Coleto 3 with black ink, mechanical pencil and full length eraser. I used to carry all 3 separately but now they’re all in one. I erase like crazy so I like having a serious amount of eraser without having to wear down the back of my pen or take off a cap that I eventually lose anyway.
I find the 0.5mm pencil too small in all the Hi-Tec C Coleto and Jetstream. I'm going to try the new Bic 3+1 which has a 0.7mm pencil. Unless there is a Hi-Tec C Coleto or Jetstream with 0.7mm but I have not seen it.
SUPER HELPFUL! THANKS FOR ALL THE INFOR I WATCHED UNTIL THE END!
This was so helpful. Thank you!
What a great video !! Really appreciate your effort in making it.
Thanks!
I can see myself giving all the pens you present a try with the exception of one, the Uniball RE 3. I recommend the following: Zebra Surari 4-color 0.7 mm in transparent body (not fond of the body but the ink skips less or not at all when compared to the other four well-known hybrid inks), the Pilot Coleto 1000 in silver or black (more professional looking; not a fan of the 500's rubberized grip section), Uni Style Fit Meister 3 (the smooth metal makes it a bit difficult to secure a decent hold; I use a little washi tape), the Zebra Sarasa Select (not a fan of the body but the ink is nice with the pale blue and blue green being favorites of mine, and the Pilot Frixion Ball 2 Biz 2-color multi in pink or gray (most expensive of the five; recommend the 0.5 mm blue and green refills). Thanks for the video!
THX I enjoyed this... Still looking for the ultimate multi, this a good help
Thank you so much for this!!!
I have the pentel energel 3. Personally as a fidgeter who always has to try to avoid chewing my fingers I enjoy the functionless push button on the top hehe. Apparently tho, it is for the ones that have a mechanical pencil inside.
Excellent collection. Some notes: the Dr Grip pen is one of my favorites, and the coleto is awesome but they run out super quick. Try out the Sakura 4 + 1 and Xiaomi 4 + 1 multi pens.
Do you know where one could find a Dr grip like the one in the video? I like heavy pens and all the 4+1 options for the Dr grip now say the body is Plastic. Is the metal model discontinued?
@@thomasleon9550Try Amazon for the best price; or eBay.
That was EPIC!
Nice Video, what do you think about the rotring four in one the new one?
I found the Jetstream 4&1 way more comfortable than most pens, mainly because of it's larger size. Far less likely to get writer's cramp and I found it a dream to write with. Different pens for different hands I suppose.
At work I've been carrying a Pentel EnerGel .5 permanent blue, a red, and an EnerGize pencil. Having a 2 + 1 would be great, but I want the EnerGel and I need the permanent ink. The regular refills are bigger than the 2 + 1 versions so I can't replace them. I placed an order today at Jet Pens and went ahead and ordered the 2 + 1 anyway just to get free shipping, although it's black instead of blue ink and non-permanent.
That Jetstream Prime 3 + 1 looks really nice, but how does the ink compare to the EnerGel? This stuff is making fountain pens look very simple. 😳
You should make an update video! I’m curious if you’ve found any other good multipens within the past 4 years
Hi! Have you tried the Uni Style Fit? Would love to hear your thoughts on it. Thanks for this video!
what tri color pen has the brightest/vibrant blue? my multi pens has dark almost black, blue inks.
My favorite is the Sarasa multi 4 in one - better ink and like having the pencil - got them on amazon for 6€
Try the Sakura 4*1 and the Biz version of the RE 3
Nice vid! I appreciate your favorites perspective👍 I see that you really like the Jetstream Prime twist. I'm very curious what your comparison opinion is on it compared to the Skillcraft B3 Aviator. The B3 wasnt in your mix here and maybe it was because it has a pencil and it seemed you were comparing only multi pens without the pencil option? Or maybe you dont like its ink quality? I know you've done a review of the B3 as I've watched it but it seams very similar to the Jetstream Prime but you didn't include it in your list. I'm a big multi fan of multi's with the pencil option as I use both pens and the pencil for my daily writing/marking needs. For the cost, quality, capability, and construction durability I haven't found a better multi then the B3 for EDC use imo of course. I've had several quattros, many of the cheap plastic color clickers which are all function and no fashion imo, an Avery Triple Click that I liked pretty well, the Cross Tech 3 which costs too much imo, a Zebra Surari Sharbo which is pretty good, and many others that were not impressive enough to remember at this moment. None of which have bested the B3. The Jetstream Prime twist looks like it could be a real contender for me but the center bulge looks a little weird to me and I wonder how well it pockets with the lip from the bulge. I'm over the gravity clickers as I just dont like the actuation system, its gotta be twist for me.
I love the round ups.
My only wish is that they were more frequent.
I know they are probably a lot of work with little changes but I would watch them anyway.
@@unsharpen I wish I had been aware of the website Unsharpen before today. My wife has already hinted I don't need more pens but we have another $60 on the way with more to come.
Who all consists of this Unsharpen Team?
AWESOME, and Thankyou
I enjoyed the round up! I like hearing your opinions and ways to frankenpen with better ink. Thanks!
Have any opinion on the ohto Ohto MF-20K3B
I just want a black ink and a pencil
Hi! So I have a hi tec c coleto 5 and a hi tec c coleto 4, but you've said they run out of ink rather quickly. Can you please recommend one that doesn't run out as fast?
-Hi Tec C Coleto 5 houses: pencil, eraser, black, blue & red.
-Hi Tec C Coleto 4 houses: red, green, purple, baby blue
They're used for note taking. I got them to reduce bulk and not carry around too many writing devices.
I would need multipens that house 5 & 4, that have longer lasting ink cartridges.
I'm not really into twist pens. Mostly because I have to switch colors quickly while writing for work. So I perfer the jetstream prime 3 over the prime 3+1. I also never need a pencil so it's pretty much useless for me. I also really like the Dr. Grip pen but I use uni style fit our jet stream refills. The coleto ink tins out too quickly for me and same for the energel.
Love this video, very useful, thanks
Awesome thanks
@@unsharpen I have quite a lot too, I spend too much at Jetpens or Cultpens
have u checked out the pilot evolt?
Any thoughts on an ideal multi-pen for sketching and measuring in buildings and topographically. I work on A4 lined sheets on a clipboard and have to quickly draw sketches and details of rooms etc. I'll usually use one colour to sketch, and one to annotate . I currently use either a cheap Bic multi-pen or a cheap Zebra Quad multi-pen, both ballpoint. Most problems occur with fine detail or when trying to fit multiple measurements into a small space. I have a 0.38 Signo DX and 0.4 Pilot G-Tec-C which are great for fine lines, so an equivalent multi-colour multi-pen is what I'm after that works in rain and dust, drys quickly and is cheap (cos they tend to get lost a lot). Haha maybe asking for too much?
Sorry posted this before watching the video. I'll do that now.
Maybe a Jetstream could work out for you given the very wide variety of tip sizes and colors available in that line.
The BEST Multipen I have found (I have a similar collection to yours) is the Monteverde QUADRO. I didn't see it in your video... but it has 3+1 inserts, but it's not bulky at all. It's basically the same size or slimmer as an Pentel RSVP or a Sakura Micron.
I'm looking for a multi-colored pen that uses pressurized ink. Do any of the above fit the bill or does anyone know of one that does please ?
Very good information, but I do like Red, green (and orange, if possible) ink colors with a mechanical pencil.
Great video, I would love to see a video on how you store your pens. Also do you have any experience with the zebra sharbo line of multi pens?
Video on the vintage one would still be cool, and if you're willing to get a new one then you could do comparison
@@unsharpen ...how much should I pay for a vintage Sharbo in new and old condition just in case I find a vintage one.
Dr. Grip 4+1 is so comfortable to write with.
Man, I don't know how I ended up here, but you have my attention.
Thanks for this round up! Where could I find that older model Coleto 3?
It’s tough. Ebay or Etsy maybe? Hard to find
Great selection and info. What about the classic Bic multi pens. I like those too.
Thanks!
aye kinda random question and i know this was 3 years ago but that cool grid mat that you have on the table where you get that
unsharpen.com/what-pad-is-on-unsharpens-desk/
rotring made an updated version of that vintage pen
Does anyone know of a good multi-pen with gel ink and easy reafill to find?
What about the padrino Stainless Steel Multi-Function Pen - Black/Red/.5mm Pencil (Made in Japan)? It's a $30 pen. Have you tried it? Thanks for your videos,
Try the bic 4 colour
I just purchased the new slim jetstream because of this video ... 😏
Package just came today! It's so slim omg!! Thanks for recommending!
i like the uni re3 method to choose colours; any other brand offer this system? i dislike erasable so don't want to buy the re3.
Is there any liquid ink (like vball) multi pen?
No. It would run out super fast
any idea which is better quality out of the Concorde, WEDO, and ICO chromed 4 in 1 pens which look identical?
Never heard of those! Where are you shopping
Got a lamy 2k multi on the way
Can any of these take bold refills? It seems like these all come in Fine and Extra Fine.
Yes. You need to get something like the sxr 80 1.0mm refill. You won’t be able to go super bold but you can get a really good line from that
@@unsharpen Thanks much!
Tou should try the pentel i+ energel
Is a pretty good pen :)
Oh yea that’s a good one. I prefer the coleto but i know the Pentel is popular
6:17
I have a Frixion multicolour pen and it's not worth.
I costed me $30 CAD and the ink runs out quick.
Which one has refillable ink?
Almost all of them
I watched till the end and like 3 others. lol.
Okay I have been trying to find this multi pen everywhere and cannot remember the name. But it had red and black ink pens a mechanical pencil and a plastic stylus that I would use on my Nintendo ds. Maybe someone here might know what this multi pen is called?
Yo but i m broke😂
Nvm that
Can u tell me which one was used in the movie "bad genius"?
I have to green one it is made from Japan
How about a "best multipen listbfor 2020?" 😅
U are great
Lamy 2000?
The Lamy 2000 4-color is pretty nice, but not my favorite. You like it?
@Unsharpen I haven't tried it. Trying to find a deal at under $50, I don't want to pay more than that for it. I do like 4 colors over 3. I currently own 2 Coletos and the Jetstream 4 +1. I don't like it because of that bulky clip, same reason as you said. Other than the Lamy, what should I try next?
Lamy 2000
Pen test? How do you do a vid like this and not show how they write?
Love your video's
