My EDC fountain Pen would be Platinum Preppy. It writes good, and in some 'dangerous' situation i can still a liiiiittle bit reluctantly let someone borrow it. (because in my country no retailer sells the pilot varsity). But, i am considering Buying the Pilot Petit. It's almost only a third of the price of Preppy. And the other pen would be either my TWSBI GO or My LAMY Safari depending on the situation, because of the difference in size of the nib.
Anyway, can't wait to see the next part of this series! 😁

The Zebra Sarasa is my go to pen now. My left hand has been showing signs of Dystonia for about a decade now, which causes my hand to cramp easily even after one page of writing notes.
When I switched to the Sarasa, it was a definite game changer. I can write 10-15 pages of notes before my hand shows any signs of fatigue! Wish I knew about these babies while in college a few years ago! 😍

The Petit 1 is my EDC purse pen along with the Monteverde Poquito (as a ballpoint/stylus). It is such a joy to write with. My EDD(esk) pen is a Platinum Preppy. Both fountain pens have that perfection seal. Coincidently, so does the Varsity/VPen which I have as a "loaner but I know you aren't going to give it back" pen.

    • @CanuckJim
      @CanuckJim Před 3 lety

My go-to pen is the Uni Jetstream. I like the feel in hand, the smooth way it writes without smearing or smudging, and can be refilled. Of the two styles, I prefer the stick over the retractable, but when other people try it, they assume it's a retractable. These pens are the only ones I am loathed to meet others borrow.

Platinum preppy! I've got one that I eyedroppered which started up every time for YEARS on one fill. And the Coleto multi pens -- which I fill with gel inks, mechanical pencil, PLUS eraser. I like the bright orange body because it's easy to find in my bag.

    My EDC pens:
Gel pen: Parker Vector. Love the sleek look, compactness and writes smoothly. The grip is a bit on the slim side though but not a deal breaker.
Fountain pen: TWSBI diamond mini. Would love to carry the TWSBI Eco but it’s too big to fit in a shirt pocket. Same with LAMY LX, so carry it in my bag.

I’ve tried the Sarasa, but am partial to Uniball in the gel pen segment. For disposable fountain pen, I find the Zebra Fuente a VERY interesting alternative to the classic Pilot Varsity; cost is less than half, and ink colour option excels by far, at least here in Méjico. I’m blown away by the Kaweco, but I wouldn’t know which colour/finish to choose! Great vid, looking forward to watching part two.

My go to is the Pilot Juice pen! Its like 5¢ more than the Zebra Sarasa and the refills are a dream (sometimes other brands' refills don't work as well). I still need to check out the Zebra Sarasa pens,,I have the multipen a few years back with the mechanical pencil and it was great

I use the zebra Sarasa pens but I only have it in blue, indigo and black. Since I have MUJI pens similar to the colours of the zarasa pack, I’ll just have to wait for them to finish to buy one!
The pens are smooth and I use them almost everyday

An EDC for me may be something of a surprise. Maybe 10 or 11 years ago I bought a silve and black Staples pen at the Staples store in my town. The barrel is triangular and the part where the pen is held seems to be a hard rubber kind of material. A Parker Bros. cartridge can be used in the pen. The "clicker" (?) part of my pen doesn't work so well anymore and especially after going through the washing machine. The point doesn't go back in so well anymore but better than not staying out! The paint is also coming off and I can see the gold-ish colored metal underneath (brass?) but the pen is very comfortable to use for a left-handed person such as myself and it still looks good. I went to Staples to see about a replacement but the staff member there said Staples changes the designs of its products frequently so the pen is no longer available. Mine may have wear and tear but it's still good for a lot more use.

Can anyone speak on how grippy the grip/section of the ti arto edc is? I have a huge issue with pens always slipping through my fingers, even knurled drafting pencils.

Muji black gel pen in 0,38 all the way!
It is avaible in a pack of 10, is practical and reliable, is small but comfortable in size, and can be decorated with pretty washi tape.

The Sarasa's are amazing pens. I just bought the Pilot Petit1 last night. The paper I'm using right now feathers horribly with the ink. I think my top 3 pens are the Pilot G2, Pentel EnerGel, and the Uniball Signo. The Pilot Preppy are some of my go-to fountain pens.

Compact pens are made easier to lose, so I have none. My EDCs are a Parker Jotter bp, a modern Lamy, or Pilot fountain pen, and disposable ball points serving as replaceables around the office.

  • @JaneMetcalfe

For a long time I used a Parker Ballpoint Pen to write in my diaries every day. However, I found the replacement (genuine) refills were terrible. The ink wasn't up to the usual high standards I expect from Parker. Recently, I ordered a Zig Millennium Fineliner with black ink (to try to encourage me to draw actually but it hasn't worked lol) but I've ended up using it in my 2019 diary. In fact, I love it so much I'm now using cursive writing so it looks posher! The ink doesn't bleed and I now have other colours that I use in my colouring books. I prefer them to the Sakura Microns because I can angle the Zigs just like a regular pen. The Sakuras (I find) have to be held upright to work properly..which is no better than the Stabilo 88!😮
I love your videos..very addictive I must say!

Could you do a video about pens for left-handed people? We have unique needs. I like the Pilot Precise V5 RT, but would love to hear other recommendations. Lefties need ink to dry instantly so it doesn't smear.

JetPens, can you make a video on slim pens & pencils? Such as the Pilot Birdy switch pen mentioned in this video. For me, the skinnier the pen/pencil, the better my handwriting is!

I have the sarasa multi-pen and the retractable ones absolutely love them! The multipen very handy for college as also it has a pencil. Once had a slim pilot multi-pen (sadly I broke it😭) and it’s probably the only non gel ink pen I loved it wrote so well! It was not the same one the as the one in the video and I sadly forgot the name so I can’t find it anywhere... looking for trying the pilot Petit 1 Mini Fountain pen. Looks very cute.

9 pens listed with 4 from Zebra and 3 from Pilot. Too bad more manufacturers didn't make the list, but I like the choices that were made. My personal EDC is the Hex-O-Matic Retro 1951. I personally love the style of it and the knurled grip which is something I prefer on all pens and pencils that I buy.
