Most of those Amazon links are just for reference. You can sometimes find niche refills cheaper other places! For the Jetstream and more popular stuff, Amazon should be the cheapest.

I got a very nice Mont Blanc multi pen from my dad, sadly I never use it because the ballpoints are awful, this video helps a lot! Thank you :)
The Uni-ball SRX and the Zebra ESB are both emulsion inks.
The Zebra JSB and Hi-Tec C Slims are gel inks.
The Kaweco and Monteverde are softroll ballpoint inks
The Fisher Space Pen SU4F and Schmidt 620M are both pressurised refills.
The Monteverde refills are available in 10 colors and write very smooth.
Thanks. Video needs some clean up work!
Great job on this vid! Super informative and helped me pick out some great D1s. I've never needed D1 carts before but I got a Makerset Field Pen from Machine Era's Kickstarter and it came with a Schmidt 635, which isn't bad at all but I figured there were some other good options out there, which you showed. Keep working on that penmanship!
Love the River City Ransom plug btw
Recently purchased a pen refill lot which included many Cross D1 Black Fine refills and 4 Montblanc Blue D1 refills. BOTH SUCK. Cross's are inconsistent, take too long to get started, lack darkness, and aren't smooth. Montblanc's D1 writes smoothly, but fades out completely after a few sentences... and now I'm here XD
I‘m interested in the Kaweco Steel Sport or the Green Sport AC as a pencil and as ballpoint. So I was wondering what D1 I should get, turns out I just need to get the 1,2 mm Kaweco (or stick with the 1,0 mm, which is probably nice as well). Nice :)
Recently bought a jetstream prime 3&1 feel like the ink is about to run out and wanted to see if there were better refills but guess not lol
Do you think the sxr-200-05 fit it too?
What alternative Refills can be used for the Zebra Slf Mini ballpoint Pen instead of the Standard Zebra 4c-0.7 Refill?? In the Country I live, it’s very difficult to Find Zebra Refills.
I really enjoy the tombow D1 refill
is the cross mini ink refill the same as these d1 refills?
Will any of this refills work with a Montblanc Mozart ballpoint pen? Thank you in advance. :)
Do you know if D1 refill can be repaired? I just received 2 in a mail today, I think it's the Pilot Hi-Tec-C Slim but both of their heads had come off 😭 I can't put them back together, I didn't even know that could happen to a D1 refill.
Is there any refill standard mini ball pen refill that’s gel for the kawaco lilipit - edit nvm thanks for answering my question in the vid I think these fit the liliput
You have to buy several for Jet pen's to make the $6 shipping worth it on a $2 refill.
Thank you! Great video and very helpful :-)
How do the sxr's do on receipts?
I share your top 3. The zebra and hi tec c are favorites but they die so quickly. I use mine in an adapter placed in my SCHON pocket pen.
FYI, nit picky Internet comment: it’s pronounced kaVeco
Is it possible to refill d1’s with ink of choice? Have you ever attempted this?
Sal ah well, I thought I might be possible with small syringe?
Trying to find a good dark green d1, but nothing
Does these refills work in any other pens other than the multipens?
Some standard pens use D1. Like the Pentel smash ballpoint
KAWECO is by far the most reliable and cost efficient.
LAMY M21 is quite nice too, can give it a try.
Likewise if you have a Lamy 2000 ballpoint, you can get a M16 to D1 adapter and have a lot more refill options compared to the lackluster M16 refill options. (Since I'm primarily using fountain pens, the capacity of the D1 cartridges are not as much a dealbreaker to me as I mainly only reach for them when my fountain pens are not ideal for the type of paper being used or carbon copies)
@@KarlBlessing I have the Lamy 2000 4 (Multipen), too. You use it with M16 refills?
@@KarlBlessing Lamy 2000 4 (Multipen) works with D1 refills, so I was a bit confused, but you mean Lamy 2000 Ballpoint works with M16, so you could use an adapter in that case. Right?
@@stefan4207 The Multipen uses the smaller D1s (which is common to find the multiple colors in), The regular ballpoint takes M16, but I have an adapter that was 3D printed to accept a single D1 refill which has a lot more (better) refill options especially for smoothness or color choices. You slip the D1 refill into the adapter, and you insert the whole assembly in like you would a D16 refill.
@@stefan4207 imgur.com/a/BwSFnEJ Pictures of the tip of the Ballpoint with the original M16 refill, versus a Monterverde D1 SoftRoll sticking out. No resistance or grind, fits quite nicely and does not wiggle as much as the M16 when using.

How long do the Zebras last?
I got a pen that used the Monte Verde medium point D1 (0.7mm), and it wrote like at least two full 3 subject notebooks before running out.
@@unsharpen Ok thank you. I have a Ko-axis rail pen that I ordered refills for, I ordered a Monte Verde and a Schmidt refill pack.
Have you checked the Jetstream SXR-200-05 (0,5mm), too?
@@digogalvaos Hope you don't mind me answering this for you... It depends on the line width you prefer. If a 0.5 line is too thin, by all means go up to a 0.7. My goal, when using D1s, is to purchase an ink that will last the longest, so I buy 0.5 tips because less ink is dispensed when compared to a 0.7.
Lamy21 deserved a spot here.
Define D1 please🤔

I was just reading a comment (on a different site) left by someone who purchased a D1 who complained about how fast their D1 refill got used up and demanded their money back. Is this person serious?!?! Common sense should dictate that because of the sheer size of the cartridge, the ink will not last long. GEEZ! To get the most out of a D1 refill, you must choose a more viscous ink (oil not water-based) and a cartridge having a small, or smallest tip size. While gel ink is most vibrant and available in a range of colors, it will not last as long as hybrid or ballpoint ink. For me, ballpoint ink just doesn't cut it. The colors appear muted and the lines aren't crisp. My personal recommendation is the Uni Jetstream (hybrid ink) SXR-200 with a 0.5 mm tip in blue ink. (I would rack up on 0.38 tips if they were ever offered). This ink doesn't run as thin as gel giving it more lasting power, the 0.5 tip doesn't let out more ink than a 0.7 or 1.0, and the blue, in my opinion, is more vibrant than the black. It also dries quickly making it less likely to smear after running a highlighter over it. If you've got to have your gel ink, by all means, use a slot for its cartridge, but whether you use gel or hybrid, ALWAYS purchase a sufficient amount of refills... you're going to need them.
