  • Finding Our OWN Beach in El Nido Philippines 🇵🇭
Is El Nido, Philippines the most expensive town in the country? Room prices in El Nido, Philippines are probably some of the highest I've seen in the country, but in this video I show all of the prices for a full day on one of the most scenic Filipino beaches in the country. In this video I explore Las Cabañas beach near El Nido with ‪@KenAbroad‬

The Germans were decent folks here in the Philippines in WW2. Most refused the Nazi party in protest and were massacred by the Japanese at the old Manila German club in 1945, the spot has never been built over to keep it as a memorial.
I grew up near one of the great old German mansions here in Quezon City, Roosevelt Street. It still has the Kaiser imperial eagles stone gate posts. A rich Filipino bought it and renamed it Casa Acuzar and opened it to tourist, especially the Germans like Ken.

    Pinakbet Ilocano Recipe
Pakbet or pinakbet is a popular vegetable dish that originated from one of the northern provinces of the Philippines, Ilocos. The vegetables used on this dish are usually grown in the back yard of every villager and are available almost all year long. Bitter gourd ,eggplant, okra, and string beans are just some of the vegetables that make-up this delightful dish. Can partner it with grilled boneless milkfish or fried, Pakbet is cooked in a clay pot called “Palayok” and Anchovy sauce (bagoong isda) is used to add flavor.
As the fame of this dish grew, several versions have sprouted. In the National Capital Region (Manila and the near by cities), Pakbet is cooked with squash (kalabasa) and bagoong alamang (shrimp paste) is used to give flavor to the dish. This variation is known as “Pakbet Tagalog”.
A very easy-to-cook dish packed with different vitamins and minerals (just limit the bagnet if you are conscious of your health), Pakbet is a dish that is really worth trying especially with rice of course. I'm glad you tried.

Halo halo or haluhalo could also mean an assortment of things, in this case an assortment of sweetened ingredients. There is actually no hard and fast rule to follow on eating halo halo as there are several ways to serve it. If served on a tall glass with the ingredients under the shaved ice, you might want to mix it first to reach the bottom part as the shaved ice itself has bland taste. But when served on a bowl with the sweetened ingredients on top of the shaved ice, you may scoop an ingredient or two before proceeding with mixing or half mixing the lot. I personally eat half of the ice cream first and the leche flan second since it usually comes in tiny portion and would only get lost in the mixture.

  • @lucibelarmino8010
    @lucibelarmino8010 Před 7 měsíci +1

The halo-halo ingredients depend on preferences. You can be specific on what you want in the mix. Just let them know and they'll obliged. Example of the mix: Macapuno (coconut tree variety), small red beans, chickpeas, saba banana, kaong (palm nut), leche flan, halaya (ube purple yam), gulaman (jello). Corn and mango is unusual to be in the mix.

I’m happy you liked the video!! Oh you’re going to Palawan?! El Nido or Coron? I briefly mentioned this in this video, but the great thing about El Nido is you have access to the beach from your hotel like you see in this video. But in Coron there aren’t any beaches near the town.. the island hop tours are amazing at both places, but I like being able to do what we did in this video from the town, so for that reason I like El Nido (but el nido town is loud, so I stay on Corong Corong beach near El Nido Town). Have a great trip!

I guess Pinakbet is one of those Filipino dishes that is an acquired taste. I think a lot of our dishes are. And those dishes that Filipino children don't like but grow to love as they get older are that ones that most westerners would not like too at first. Like I remember when i was a kid, i didn't like Pinakbet either. Or Dinuguan and Ampalaya with egg. But now, i really love these dishes.

No offense, i cant believe you dont eat the dishes with rice. I get that you get tired when you eat rice, but filipino food is deliberately made to have really strong & overpowering flavours because you're meant to balance it yourself with each bite via the rice.
Filipino food is all about customization, and rice is integral to that. Each bite's flavour strength is decided by the dish-to-rice ratio you have on the spoon.
I would suggest eating non filipino foods if you dont want to get tired from rice, and only eat filipino food when you can afford to get tired. That way you can eat Filipino food with rice. Because it can only really taste good if you have the rice to balance the flavour.
Again, I'm not hating. I'm just giving the reason why there's a proper way of eating Filipino food. Sorry if my comment sounded offensive or aggressive, I did not intend that, it's really hard to communicate tone through text.

Halo-halo in the bukonut is called “BukoHalo”. 😋
I always eat halo-halo without mixing it. I always finish first the ice cream 🍨 then the rest of the ingredients… and I’m fully blooded Filipino 😂

Americans have difficulty pronouncing syllables with a glottal stop especially with the letter o at the end they usually pronounce it as “ow” so instead of mistakenly saying it as “salamat pow” he unintentionally says “salamat pog” while trying to do the glottal stop at the word “po” 😅😅😅
