I mean English does that too, but just with the first 3 days and not for literally everything. Like, you can say "one (human)", "one (animal)" and "one (flat thing like a piece of paper)". In Japanese that would be "hitori", "ippiki", "ichimai".

Every time I hear "English is hardest to learn" I feel like it's English monoglotes that know nothing about linguistics
    Casual example:
English has 5 verb forms for each verb
my native language has about 30
English has no grammatical cases, whereas my native language has 7,
English has no grammatical gender, whereas my native lanuage has 3
And I won't even try to compare English to Hungarian or Georgian

But English is very different from most of other languages (even european) and English writting system is very archaic and illogical. Also it has many weird sounds like TH, their R and other weird sounds, you have to put hot potato to your mouth to pronounce that. :-D I am learnig English maybe 20 years (actively only last few years) and It still happens to me that I type accidentaly see instead of sea or something like that, you have to constantly think about that. The worst thing are words with double letters, I still have to google some words always to write it correctly. :-D

The reason people say English is hard to learn is because it doesn't adhere to its own rules. It may seem to be fairly straightforward at first glance, but every spelling and grammatical rule has exceptions, and many of those exceptions have their own exceptions. Even native English speakers struggle to keep the rules sorted.
That said, the hardest language to learn is Mandarin.
For the record, English DOES have grammatical cases, but only for pronouns.
