    The Audi Q4 e-tron is very similar to the VW ID.4 and Skoda Enyaq. But it’s more expensive. Is it really worth the extra? Well, actually, it could be, and you might even describe this EV as “good value”. Watch to find out why.

    I’ve ordered a 40 S-Line, surprisingly on cost grounds. On my company scheme a Q4 is cheaper than an Enyaq with the same spec and with leather seats as an option (essential for me) there’s £5 per month difference between the Sport and S-Line versions. Driven both the Q4 and Enyaq (and Ionic 5) and agree not a lot of difference but to me the Q4 was quieter and I much preferred the interior with real buttons. Strange times when an Audi is cheaper than a Skoda.

    So I’m 6 moths in to having the q4 e-tron vorsprung, so top line I’m pleased. There are however some issues which having now researched are not new and are a known issue for nearly a year! Questions to ask the dealer before you buy;
    - show me the Audi app and what I can do remotely? (you will be surprised by lack of functionality)
    - show me how to set up user profiles? (You can’t which means every time you start you have to read a disclaimer and agree to move the message off the screen, this also means you can’t save favourites or even add a home destination…..😖

    The touch sensitive controls are probably cheaper for them. Just a PCB, covering, and an embedded chip. No mechanical bits to design and assemble. The overlays are printed and cut from big sheets, no expensive molds need to be made for physical knobs or buttons, etc. On-screen controls are even cheaper. If there's a screen already, add a touch overlay, and all controls from then on are just code, no manufacturing or wiring needed.

      I will however agree that the EV SUV segment is in a bit of weird place. Consider that you can get a Tesla Model 3 for almost the same price tag as the E-Tron, which is by far more efficient and a better EV. It's trunk and baggage space is also pretty big and you can fit a family of 4 pretty comfortably in it.

      In the UK the Ioniq starts around £38,000 up to £48,000 depending on battery/ motor choice. The Kia EV6 is reported to start just over £40,000 to over £50,000 for the top of the range GT model. If it’s range and a powerfull motor you’re after, then all three models end up a similar price.

    Lets see what happens when every car is an EV fighting for a charge point when they are all occupied.... lets see what happens when all the lithium and other rare minerals for use in the making of the batteries are all used up. Your batteries will not be getting any cheaper. You may be fortunate in having your private charge point but millions of others around the world live in tall blocks of apartments or rows of terraced houses where they cannot get their EV within 100 yards of their home.... They are the ones who will be crying "Help".... How far do you think an electric truck can travel on a full charge? Lord Bamford (JCB) has stated that they can only be used for 4 hours before being charged up for more than 12 hours... He is now manufacturing all his diggers and cranes etc to be powered by hydrogen engines.. I may be in the minority for the next ten years or so but EVs are not the future , Musk has fooled the world's politicians and car manufacturers.
    BREAKING NEWS :-- ELECTRIC CARS ARE CAUSING THREE MILE QUEUES BACKING UP FROM BRITAIN'S MOTORWAY SERVICE STATIONS AS THEY WAIT FOR A VACANT CHARGING POINT
    Lets hope they are not on a smart motorway where there are no hard shoulders to sit on...
