    At electrifying.com we all drive electric cars personally and professionally most of the time. But usually we only get a few days with a new model - and while we cram a lot of testing and filming into that time, there’s nothing like spending a little bit longer living with something.
    For the past few months, we’ve been getting up close and personal with the Audi Q4 e-tron. It’s been racking up the miles going to video shoots and new car launches around the UK and been the daily driver for Ginny. On the rare occasions we’ve been able to steal the keys away, the team has also spent plenty of time in Audi’s first pure-electric, mid-sized SUV.
    Join Ginny as she explains the good and bad points of Audi Q4 ownership and gives her verdict. Do you have an Audi Q4 e-tron? Do you agree with our findings? As always, we’d love to hear from you in the comments below.

    I own a Q4e-tron and I can honestly say is an amazing car. I have the dual motor 265 bhp. It is more then enough. On long tripsw/o motorway, yoy easily reach min. 400 km of range during spring/summer. On motorway about 250-300 km. And the front seats are one of the most comfortable seats I ever driven in. Bettyer than BMW X5 full option. The inly thing I do not actually prefer is the fact that the dampers are more on the sporty side set even on comfort setup. Apple carplay is also to be paid-around 100 EUr/year fee. Apart from these is an amazing car. Very very happy with this choice. Cost is way too high nevertheless, but is good value for money.

    On the strength of this review I got a new Q4 five weeks ago.
    Agree with most what is said (though mine is the 2024 model with more power and updated MMI) and I’m not keen on the haptic controls on the steering wheel. However, range is exceptional. I’ve only charged twice away from home for a total of 18% and only then to see how public chargers worked and I’m getting 4.7 m/kWh on average. My range on the twice I’ve charged to 100% at home has been 360 and 377 miles. Now, before you say ‘ahh but, in the real world….’ I did a 360 mile round trip last week including 80 miles of motorway and 100 miles of A roads and I got home with the 18% I’d publicly charged still showing . Great car….

    I ordered one in Sept 21 when they were a lot cheaper and there was at the time a very good deal on my company scheme (cheaper than an Enyaq). However this quickly turned into a pipe dream as delivery date went from Feb 22 initially to March 2023!
    I eventually gave up and got a smaller EV instead - a Peugeot e208. Really nice small car and doing 3.5 miles per kWhr in winter. Do I wish I waited for the Audi? - not really now. The lease prices have gone up massively and tbh if we go for a bigger EV next time it’s almost certainly going to be a Tesla.

    I agree it's a brilliant car but the software, especially the app, is woeful as is Audi Customer Service. If you're expecting a smart car I would avoid, but if you don't care and just want a well built, solid and comfortable EV SUV it is great. We've had ours for just over a year and 13,000 miles now.

      Exactly, the software bugs and misses will not be a problem for some people, but for me it's very annoying. No updates since 1+y, not being able to login with Audi account which is the basic of each audi car these days. Navi works really well, but absolute disaster with addresses being randomly wiped for absolutely not reason, ....for me the last Audi for sure. For this price such misses are simply not acceptable.

    7:11 NOPD isn't a drawback but it's a plus. Unlike OPD, NOPD applies SIN's 1st Law to the fullest. Coasting & creep uses less energy to keep the vehicle in motion than to start from rest.
    NOPD means that you've to brake to bring the vehicle to a FS. Applying the brakes means putting the brakes to work which results in no rusty brakes and makes the brakes in top-notch working conditions.

    What about water leaking into the trunk? Have you experienced that? I noticed after 1½ month of owning mine that rain water leaks into the trunk. Especially when opening it, all the rain water travels down the sides and leaks enough water into the place between the outside of the car and the inside of the trunk area (where wiring and trunk lights are). Definitely something to be concerned of.

    As a business owner and consultant I still cannot understand people buying an Audi at its price. The prestige at the golf and country club of today anyhow is based on S3XY cars and some outstanding replacements from Korea e.g. Kia EV6, Genesis GV60 or Hyundai IONIQ 5. All these product work better and offer better value vs. price relationship and their styling is electric and not from the ICE past. And where is the frunk in an Audi? Fortschritt durch Technik was yesterday and now in ads they already must present cars they never build while ‚premium‘ ICE Audis you can get at half the price already… Very convincing indeed!

    • @Olliebobalong
      @Olliebobalong Před rokem +3

      Audis hold their value. Hyundais and Kias don’t. If you want to know why people still buy German cars, clock 50k miles per year in mainly motorways and see how and Audi feels vs a Kia. It’s night and day. Hyundai and Kia while very good these days, have become stupidly expensive. My neighbour paid £36k for a 1.6t Sportage. These are prices to shock Volkswagen owners let alone ford or Peugeot.

    • @Lifecoach7Ra
      @Lifecoach7Ra Před rokem +2

      @@Olliebobalong yes, yes, stay with your belief. But Kia and Hyundai Group just changed in one generation and are factually among the best. What would you say if here in Switzerland you can get now new top of the line Audis at half the price? Keep dreaming but you should know that time changes and past values are worth nothing! Also in automotive and before in telephones. Keep buying Nokia and Motorola. But fact is with Apple and Samsung something new came into play. Same here, with Tesla as new #1 in ‚premium‘ segment. Then in the same league come the cars of Hyundai Group Genesis GV60, Ioniq 5&6, Kia EV6 even in price relation before Porsche Taycan. And here in Europe the Korean cars get good prices as used cars and loose less value than named cars in your outdated example. So talking about opinion from others and reality are not always same! We as fleet owners look for TCO in our cars and not for small talk.

    😢😢😢😢. Nearly a year in Q4 etron vorsprung - the electronics are terrible, really bad. You can’t even set up a profile, can’t store your home address, the whole screen crashes, regular warnings and error messages. I should have got the BMW. Audi knows all about the issues and has not updated the software. That said drives very nicely is quiet and relaxing, it’s such a shame the info system is terrible.

    software is a disaster, mine is 1+year old and still no software update, unable to login etc... Big disaster also with navi addresses being wiped randomly every few weeks etc.... driving wise nice, but every EV is, software is half-baked and for this price it's far below Audi standards. This is where you see how far behind VW/Audi is with software.

      Easy enough to work out. If it was completely empty then 77kWh X the price per kilowatt hour. The price cap price is 34p (I think) so £26.18, though many people have cheaper tariffs than that.
      For my Q4 to be more expensive than my old 520d (averaged 46mpg over 4 years) then I’d need to pay over 65p/kWh (based on current diesel prices).

      @@Slufnyt1 depends where you charge. I only use public chargers and I’ve not paid for a charge since Dec for my Q4. My wife uses our local leisure centre to charge our i3 and they’re about to got from 16 to 35p/kWh. You’re right though, if you only ever charge at expensive ultra rapid chargers and if the price of fuel remains “low” then cost benefits will vanish pretty quickly. I did a video about this late last year, and although the fuel prices have dropped you can look at the charts and see where the cut off for the Q4 when compared to a 520d. The figures are based on my real world use, not wltp or manufacturer claims 🤔Real world EV running costs (BMW i3 and Audi Q4)

      @@edinreviews currently the cost to home charge is 34p due to the government price guarantee, but once that runs out the home charging will become 65p ish per kw, and then I'm estimating atleast another price rise to around 85p per kw. I thought public charging at say tesco or similar is Alot more than home charging?

    • @edinreviews
      @edinreviews Před rokem

      @@Slufnyt1 it depends where you are- it’s a geographic lottery. My local council “fast”chargers are just going up to 35p, which is cheaper than Tesco etc. I rarely use ultra rapid chargers, and in my area there are still some free destination chargers. I don’t have a home charger, but for me if the average price per kWh gets much above 60p then my old 520d could have been cheaper to run.

      That doesn't exist, same thing was said about Prius drivers, Volvos, Volkswagens etc.
      And BYD and other Chinese electric automakers would absolutely own markets globally - because China plans its markets for what people want *AND need* to ready their cars for Europe, US, etc.
      All because of speculative market competition & profit as a business culture failed to prepare for real competition itself. It happened back throughout every decade with new arrivals and the state eventually had to prop up and incentivise domestic car manufacturers to compensate their Failed business model.
      Failed to give car owners options that were available elsewhere. Imagine how different things would be if there were hybrid pickup trucks back in the 2000s? That was possible
