- A while back we shot my friend Frankie's Grand National which has an LS swap. Lawrence brought over his Regal that has gone through some cool mods yet still runs the original 3.8 liter single turbo motor.
Sit back and enjoy the ride!

The regal and grand national are the ultimate 80s car. Love them.
Very cool 👊
@Eric Clapper - my dad said those GN’s were running everything down in that time. I heard ppl were stealing them left and right. My boss now just shared a story with me a few months ago, he had 2 and both stolen.
@@EASTCOASTIMPERIAL I have an uncle who has 3 of them. The one he races is on CZcams under Mark Jackson 8 second grand national. His street car runs low 10s. They are awesome cars. Bring back lots of memories for sure. They just look mean.
@Eric Clapper - he has 3 pcs of history!!!!!
I like the Monte Carlo ss
Damn those rims really set this car off 😍
Dem' rimz n dat' beat set that gangsta sh*t off..!
I hate people who ruin gbody by putting 24's on them
Literally clicked the video just to say this if the comment wasn't already said. The BEST wheels,( and size) I've ever seen on a G body
@@gregory.garrett280 in
1986/1987 Buick T-Type, GN and GNX are on my bucket list ...
Same
I'm a working man, I see a Buick Regal/GNX I click like.
I'm a homeless man , I see a Regal T type ,I click
I'm a technophile. But when I hear a Buick 3800, I click like. Phenomenal engine - someone should resurrect it.
Lol
This is a beautiful machine im in love😍😍👍🏾👍🏾
20Piece Shawty badass 👊
The Stance/wheel tire combo and look at this car catch you right off! Did a great job on not going to crazy and far on this car let the stock lines and the good looks carry it through..pimp ride!!
Agreed. Just enough but not over the top
@@AutotopiaLA Who is the wheel Manufacture?
Well said Buddy
Nice!!
Owner's like "dont crash please!"
OWner is humble about the work on its car, its clean and beautiful
I swear I come back to this video once a month at least. That metallic blue totally changed my whole idea of mine going back white. I cant get over how good it looks with the chrome.
I like the T-Types more than the GNs. What a classy sleeper, I LOVE that color too. Badass car!
Not really a sleeper wit that visible intercooler
@SilentMovement 305 - RoFLLL.
rawsketch agreed. Look closely and it’s less of a sleeper but I’m with you 👊
Couldn't agree more on the color man this thing is crazy
@Ben W T-Types came in multiple colors while the GN only came in all black. I like the contrast of chromed bumpers while the rest of the car's trim is blacked out.
I’m a simple man I go to work and come home I just want one of these in my garage to look at and take out on sundays ❤️❤️❤️
Get one brotha!
I was Mustang guy back in the 80s - 90s but always loved the GNs and Regals the only reason that I didn’t buy one was the two friends that had them couldn’t keep from them getting stollen so I didn’t want to deal with that. This is one of if not the nicest looking T Type I’ve seen to date, love that you kept it mostly stock looking on outside and inside, love the wheels & color and you made IMO excellent mods. Great job guy!
Love it. Perfect stance and wheel choice. But love how original the paint is. Nice clean build.
Ross Lynn it’s amazing how a box on wheels can look sexy as fuck with the right stance
Ross Lynn it’s set up just right
Patrick Mike isn’t that the truth
@@patrickmike2524 box Chevy be bingo
Agreed. Wheels, stance, Color, motor, EVERYTHING is on point. That things a Champion
This was a nice vid bringing me back to my days of my 87 GN! Thank you for posting, lovely car build!
Frankie C thanks. Great car 👊
When GM used to make good buicks👍
Right?!?! What the hell happened?
Exactly! What the hell happened?!? Buicks are not Buicks! Take a modern so called Buick apart!
And the so called Buick encore is made in Korea! The VIN number starts with a K! Wtf is that?!? But people are uneducated and keep buying them thinking they are buying a Buick!
Fooled again...
@@philllsxga.7737 True but 80% of the stuff we now buy in the U.S. Isn't made here anymore. Thank Bill Clinton for signing NAFTA.
@@fordsrule35 my Silverado was built in Indiana, transmission and engine U S also.
It's not difficult. Just look at the window sticker. Uneducated consumers made it this way...
I had the regular Buick Regal, and it was horrible. Dash plastic cracked after a month new, seat upholstery tore after three years, horrible handling. Wish I kept my 1980 Monte Carlo a much better car.
Awesome ride. Brings back great memories. You need to showcase more cars like this for sure.
snipervision1 Definitely brings back memories
That is one badass car. Perfect stance, great color, and awesome wheels.
That in-car launch audio is AMAZING 👂🏻👏
Perfect build and you did a perfect job showing us this amazing ride
That's still a pretty high dollar build! But so flipping sweet! Love that car! Thanks for checking it out
I had a 1986 T-type Regal the exact same color and with the astro roof. Awesome to see these cars are still around and enjoyed.
AWESOMELY DONE TURBO BUICK!!!! I have a 87 Buick Grand National I wish mine was as clean as this one!!! 😎👍👍
Turbo Sammy he’s kept this car very clean
Sickest t-type I’ve ever laid eyes on! Perfect wheels with perfect stance, and the little details like the grand national 6 emblem printed on the wheel’s center cap,and the rpm tachometer! That color is fucking clean too
Awesome ride! Brought me back in time. I owned a Buick Regal and tried to mimic the Turbo T since I couldn't afford one at that time in my life. Excellent, clean build and a true survivor car for the era. Great job!
Iona Grand National and these cars are phenomenal I love how kept the V6 turbo and didn't change a thing. These cars go up to 1000 horsepower Easley
Cool. He’s kept this in great condition and has plans to get 800 whp next
This car stock was killn the vettes back then.Thank you guys love this car!
That’s what I’ve heard. Glad you liked this one
yeah i remember some of the gm tech guys claiming they had to lie about the horsepower levels to get it to be approved. Was supposed to be able to get 300 plus horsepower with a mild tune, and Corvette got maybe 250 at the time.
@@mikerose9313 don't forget the c4 zr1 with the Mercury/lotus Dohc 5.7 that made 375 horsepower
@JB GTO c4 zr1 with a Dohc 5.7 made 375hp . and the 350tpis made 240crank horses. which isn't much but NOBODY was making fast cars . the mustang wasn't fast.the Camaro wasn't fast. Dodge didn't even have a sports car,The oil crisis wrecked sports/muscle cars and Japan took over until the 90s when Chevy came out with the Fuel injected LS and Ford started making the debatable Mod motors that did the job to an extent , Dodge was also hanging on with some decent engines that could make okay power
My uncle had a gmc cyclone and my cousin had a typhoon. Damn those trucks made me a GM fan
Got rid of the whole idea because it was faster than the Corvette. GM didn't want to piss off their loyal base.
Got a buddie who has a white T-Type that's putting 460 at the wheels and grandma's ride is scary as hell being so quick, he's still running factory brakes and suspension which is the reason it's so sketchy at speed.
mason l get some brakes and suspension!
That part where you said, "we are definately going for a drive, so hold on man" is that what heaven looks like?
Love the little grand national turbo logo on the wheels. Nice touch.
This thing is so clean
Damn, that Regal is so clean, given it's age! The engine bay is gorgeous, and I love the stance and the wheels. Really damn nice overall.
Yeah, really clean car inside and out
I was 16 when this car came out. A friend in high school had one and i have never been in a turbo regal. I made a comment to him that this was a beautiful car but what's the big deal. I'm 47 now and to this day my wrinkled star b-hole is still stuck to the pavement next to the " covered bridge" in Smyrna Ga. Took a little while for my internal organs to go back in place. I said "GOT IT"! Good Times!
You hit my soft spot with this one. I love my '87 Turbo Regal Limited. One thing to mention is the Astroroof (sunroof) is a relatively rare option too. 465whp may not sound like a lot but these types of cars put the power down really well. Mad props.
Awesome! And I laugh at the people that say it’s not much power.
They make power at low rpm!
Beautiful! Everything is perfect!
WoW! I remember so many of these as a youngster in So. Cal. Loved this video
I do too! Glad you enjoyed the video 👊
Can't believe thats original paint. Gorgeous car
avantgardeaclue crazy right?! So clean
Still of all the vids ive seen, this particular car is probably the best one ive seen. Absolutely amazing piece of work
We try to get something for everyone here. This is a class car
One of my favorite episodes and definitely a well worth series of rides to watch!. Thanks Chris and team :)
Now that's a CAR..big Sean. .keep up the good work bro
Thanks! Yeah, he’s kept this car in great shape and just enough done to be cooler than stock
@@AutotopiaLA "cooler than stock" Haha literally in every interpretation of that sentence.
And btw, thx for taking the time to put this video out for us all. Great car.👍
You couldn't have built that car any better, perfectly put together
Nice compliment for Lawrence. Hope he sees this one
1987 was a great year for all GM vehicles, Olds, Buick, Chevrolet and Pontiac. Wished I had this one back when. I was 16 back in '87 as well brother. Thanks for the Video
Best stance I've ever seen on a T. Beautiful.
He really set this one up right imo too
That is one of the nicest Buick regal I have ever had the pleasure of seeing.
Awesome! Nice work on the intercooler, too!
TheGunfighter45acp yep. Clean overall build. That stance 👊
Slick looking as hell. The tire wheel combination just sets it off. Nice ride. Those cars were hard to beat off the showroom floor.
232 cubic inches making 465 whp. Very impressive.
They make MUCH more than that when built... My dad's made 507rwhp and still had more in it.. Put htem on E85 and easily have a 600rwhp car that you can daily drive easily.
It really is and there’s so much more that can be made if desired
231ci. But who's counting?
only 21 psi? must have ALL the timing
Well Done Lawrence 👊🏽
That paint is actually 33 yrs old....love the body style of these cars.
Jurk Jiggler glad I’m not an accountant 😂
Thanks for sharing guys👍🏻🇬🇧
You’re welcome and thanks for watching
Super car, love that it’s not got a ridiculous exhaust on it, very clean build. 👍😎
Yeah, pretty quiet overall but moves good. Clean car
Beautiful car. I love the mini tub.
Badass, takes me back to high school. I remember cruising in the 83 and 84 regal t type. 👍👍👍👍👍 Hell yea, thanks for sharing. AWESOME
Toxic Venom took me back too
love the Regal... almost had a new one back in 87. was 14K out the door
I had an 87 but guess I got stuck cause it was more than 14k.
Simply a beautiful awesome car , Grand Nationals and Regal t types are classic and dope. Awesome episode as always! 💯
Thanks. This car is immaculate
I love this car.my dad had one that looked just like this one.well not as badass as this won.great job on build.
Sweet sweet ride!👌🏼
What a beauty. Plus I love it even more because it has the same power plant. Impressive.
Love the color. Not usually a fan of lowered cars, but this is spot on perfect!! Gorgeous Turbo - T!!
The stance is so good on this. Not too low but low enough to be cool 😎
She's a beaut Lawrence! Thanks for sharing
Still looks better today than the cars they build now...
That is very clean! You rarely see one in that condition.
Have always had a dream in my head of what my GNA would look and be like if I owned one...it has now come true, thanks!
Can't believe the lacquer looks that good.Nice car.
One of the coolest cars on the channel so far.
That Regal is really well rounded and having that C02 setup is really smart it tricks the waste gate to allow boost to always be on..At least I think how that works...Great car guys..
You’d know better than me about the co2...but I do love this build
So glad it still has the 3.8 Turbo! LS swaps are great dont get me wrong, but it's getting out of hand already with the damn "LS EVERYTHING" movement! Car is fantastic by the way.
Indeed it is. When I was younger I was strictly a ford guy. Had my share of Mustangs. Now that I am a little older 47, I have now put a fumf away for my future buick grand national. Got to have one. 3.8 turbo sounds fun to me.
@Sir Honks-Alot haha! You sick bastard! Lol
So perfect. I personally would love a 6 speed manual in that car but it's no big deal, still perfect!!
PlayMeSomePimpin that would be cool for sure
Frankie has some hotrod running through his veins, it's nice to see the younger guys build worthy muscle cars. Thumbs up...nice build!
One of the best Regals I´ve seen, congrats Lawrence!
Agreed. Clean car and cool owner
My first car was an 87. Grey on grey with the 305. I’m still looking for the same one. Best car! Great build dude.
That’s such a beastly car. Looks like business.
I have a 2001 Buick Regal GS mine is supercharged love them Buicks
Oh brother! From the background check it looks like you can get that $100k auto. Thanks- great time watching, keep up the great work
The fitment is the first thing that caught my eye what a lovely car!
I saw this car at the Michelada Olympics Show two weeks ago. Sweet car.
I had one in 1990, wish I still had it. Loved those cars.
32 years 👋 23 years ehhh. It's all about the same. The Original Paint Job does look amazing though 👌
Very nice T Type. Great job on the whole package.
Agreed. And he’s kept this car so clean. Awesome!
My favorite car of all time!!!😍
Gorgeous car. Stance/wheel/tires would be hard to beat. Very nice.
Yeah, he set it up really nice. Didn’t go too far with it
Neighbor three doors down has a Grand National with 2700 miles genuine and that grey/miulti-color bird Buick "Free-Spirit" Regal mint....The GN still has the dealership mat and seat covers along with that "New-car smell" from 1987...The FS has an "MSO" title !!!!
FORGET ABOUT IT !!!!!...He will NOT sell either !!!
Man, that is nice Turbo-T! Stance and wheel fitment look perfect. Jealous right now. Wish I had hung on to mine. Glad he didn't do a LS swap.
G8GTJav he’s keeping it what it was and then some. Clean car
Well done and realistic build with great stance.
Those wheels are awesome! Need a set like them for mine. Still sits in drag setup from 20 years ago when I used to race it. Now it sits at 24k miles
Beautiful piece of machinery!!!
Hearing that 3800 engine sound while they were driving the car around took me back. I had two 3800s in my life.
I was gifted a clean but high mileage 87 Buick LeSabre when I was fairly young after I got my license. It needed some work, mainly Drive axles in the front because both outer CV boots were torn, but other than that it was maintenance related items like brakes and rotors and a tune-up. When I started working in field service I still had it and the odometer ended up with well over three hundred thousand miles on it before I was more or less forced to upgrade it because it had too many miles on it for my company to reimburse me mileage anymore. The only issue I had with all the miles i put on it was a mass airflow sensor.
I replaced it with an Impala that had the 3800 as well. I bought it used with already 46k miles on it in 2002. My entire purpose in buying the car was because of the engine under the hood. It was the right price from a local dealer I trusted and I was more interested in the powertrain honestly than the car itself. That car still runs today with over 450,000 miles on it. Yes I maintained both these vehicles with religious oil changes and I'm synthetic oil man. But I'm not easy on cars. So it's no small feat. The 3800 has always been a phenomenal engine. Especially considering it started out in competition with the 229 Chevy and the 229 Chevy was smooth as glass compared to the Buick 231.
Ironically my family had a car with a Chevy 229 in it that my mother liked a lot when I was l
Young so I grew up around that engine as well. That car was pretty bulletproof as well. It was a 1980 Malibu. I do recall my father ripping all the emissions crap off and throwing it and damn garbage early on because it was hard on spark plugs. After that it seemed like It never needed maintenance anymore. The 229 was just a 305 with two cylinders cut off. The 231 was pretty much invented from scratch I believe in the 70s people came to know them as the 3800 though.
Honestly I never had a bad car in my life so far, but the thing I remember most about my Impala especially is it never gave me any kind of fear of having a breakdown. Even when I had crazy mileage on my Impala, my co-workers would make jokes about me starting to carry sneakers because I'm going to be walking eventually. You know I never even really was concerned. I don't think the Impala ever even stalled once.
I ended up giving it to a friend of mine with about 350,000 miles on it several years ago because his family Minivan, and the only vehicle they had at the time, an early 2000 Caravan with a 3.3v6, had so many issues that it wasn't even worth fixing anymore. They were poor times for him and I knew my company wasnt going to pay me mileage much longer for that vehicle either.
He still has it today and apparently it's changed his tune because he went from being mr. Mopar to buying his wife an Acadia a year ago now that things are going better. He still has the Impala though...he drives it to work every day. He told me he loves it more than his wife most days.
Love that Co2 controlling boost.
Love the sound of the turbo
that is one bad ass regal. can't wait to get started on mine
Clean car...these will always be cool imo
Love the stance. Right amount of mods/$.
Roy set up just right. Not over the top. Class build
Beautiful, absolutely beautiful!
I fucking love this car! So good. Everything about it. Congrats on a sweet resto mod.
Watch your language 😠...This godam car is fucking sick as fuck 👍😁
Gotta love these old GM g-body design especially the regals my buddy's dad used to own an 87 GN l loved that car I've always dreamed of owning one of these someday this is the era when GM used to build true domestic cars
That thing is SICK!😁👍👍
That Regal is clean and mean! I can picture a detective from the 80s hooning this car around town!
Great comment!!
Beautiful ride! I love those cars, maybe has to do with my dad had a 87 regal and it was also the car i learned how to drive in. If i have the chance someday i might go for a Grand National.
Those regals, Grand national and gnx are badass muscle cars of 80s. I want one
Nicely done and looks like fun 💯👊💯
In 2015 I had an 87 Turbo T, black with GNX rims and a 1986 Grand National with GNX rims also. Best time of my life was when I had those cars. If you ever get a turbo buick never sell it or you'll certainly regret it. Believe me, I know.
