      I'm using it. But just few days ago i bought Sigma 30mm and i think that those 5mm less is just enough to get better images in smaller rooms. Also has a better sharpness. As you've said, you can use Sony 35mm without gimbal. Great combination with non oss a6xxx series. For me, i'll use Sigma for photos, for video also in 90% becouse i use gimbal almost every time when filmming. But probably won't sell the Sony. Can't do that. 😅

    Took it as my first lens with the a5100, no regrets as it’s my go to lens for travel photography and shot many videos with it. Also being a bit longer than the sigma, you don’t lose so much bokeh even if the aperture is not as fast ✌️

  • @DarioSinger
    @DarioSinger Před 25 dny

    Compliments for the quality pics you took. OSS is the reason i am looking at your video. I can tell you that i have a gimbal, and even on a gimbal, the stabilization of the Sigma lenses is the least a bit difficult if not problematic. Also, the use of a gimbal is possible on set-up situations, almost like a tripod. If you are doing street videography, it becomes bulky if you are planning to stay out for many hours and travel to different places. I use a 18-105 f4 zoom lens to shoot hand held but i love the sharpenes in low light night of the Sigmas trio i have, but for video i can only use it on tripod. I think the 35 mm it would allow me to do some hand held indoor shootings in dark places or outdoors at night, which the Zoom lens F4 is not be great at it and it will be impossible with the Sigma without stabilization.

  • @Bldyiii

    Is there much of a DOF and low light difference from f1.8 on FF vs f2.7 due to crop factor?

    • @DanboxingPH
      @DanboxingPH  Před 2 lety +1

      Not necessarily due to crop factor but the fact that 2.7 is far from 1.8 is. 1.8 is way better in both DOF and low light.

  • @JoeMischiefGXC
    @JoeMischiefGXC Před 3 lety +3

    Interesting... 🤔
    I struggled with this same choice but ended up with the Sigma. Most of my vids with the sigma will be static studio stuff and if I get on the move have a Ronin SC. Luckily also have the 18-105 Zoom too. I noticed in one of your recent videos the Sony 35 and wondered why you'd bought that as well as the Sigma 30. Now I know!!
    If I get the chance I may still pick up the Sony 35 as the possibilities for run and gun with such a small and light setup look interesting. Your opinion has helped confirm exactly that.
    Again epic content. I think you have a really strong position to grow being focused on growing a channel around the a6xxx ecosystem. I think you may have found a great gap in the market. Good luck!

    You know I love this lens. Right now, I have this lens on my camera, I have the 16-50 kit lens always ready, which even though everybody hates it, I actually love it. And I have the Sony 55-210, which I also love, even though everybody hates it. LOL... I think people get too caught up in sharpness, and pixel peeping, which has nothing to do with filmmaking. It's all about the story, and the bottom line is, on any 6000 series camera, all of these lenses are pretty incredible. Most of our favorite films are not using the sharpest lenses, and are all being shot with manual focus, and so I just think people are a little crazy. But that's just me. :-) I use the a6400 and LOVE it. What I've been struggling with lately is, do I have all Prime's? Or should I have a good zoom, and maybe keep one prime? Or no primes? I'm really leaning towards keeping the kit lens as my only zoom lens, and maybe getting a couple more Primes. But of course, that Tamron 17-70 looks pretty appealing as well. I don't know, it never ends :-) thanks for the awesome review, as always

      @@JoeMischiefGXC it's supposed to be a great lens, but I just don't want to invest that much in something that's stuck at F4. If I can just pay another couple of hundred bucks, I can get F 2.8 with the Tamron, and that seems like a better lens overall.

      @@JoeMischiefGXC Yes! That internal Zoom sounds perfect for gimbal use. But when I use my gimbal, I usually just throw my Sony 30mm f1 .8 on it, (I have a Crane M2), and so I think I'm going to be patient, and look toward that Tamron.

    it's 2023 and I'm considering this as my 30ish mm prime, the sigma counterpart doesn't have OSS and I don't have and don't want to carry a gimbal everywhere.

    Speaking as someone who uses the Sony, we also have to factor in the fact that we are talking about a crop sensor. The difference between f1.4 and f1.8 is bigger for APSC than it would be for a full frame sensor.

Wider field of view, sharper images etc. Unless you're on the move a lot it's still good for video. You can save up for the Sony as well OR pick up a used gimbal like Ronin SC.
