I had to put up with protesters back home who had no respect for servicemen. Nowadays every military person is a hero. Yes, my job was just as important as grunts in the jungle.
I'm turning 80 years old this month. I remember clearly the first time I heard this when I was in my early 20's so many years ago. I have enjoyed playing this favorite song by the Seekers often ever since.

I turned 14 on August 9th 1964. At this time in Auckland New Zealand, households would gravitate to a neighbour's home to watch television. I lived in a ' cul de sac ' of there were 12 homes of which only one with a TV set! The nighttime viewing turned on at 6 pm and turn off at 12 midnight. People who could, managed to place themselves in front of a TV set. The television pictures were then only in ' black and white ' viewing. The Seekers were an Australian successful ' folk-ish ' pop group. I am not wrong in believing every person in New Zealand not a ' fan ' of The Seekers. The country had the majority of its music content from ' the mother country '. The USA and Australia had an equal 2nd whilst NZ a distant third in the music output and choice. To our cousins across the ditch " Oi,Oi,Oi ". fish...
I lost my little girl dog, Isabella several months ago. I sang this to her while she was still with us and I sang it to her while she was leaving us. It said all I could ever say to her.
I also lost my spouse (late July '22) and this song from long ago has been special for me. Also, I took it for my ukulele Meetup group and they loved playing and singing it. Condolences. I know it's tough. God is in this song too.

They have no taste in music - even when I was young in the sixties - I loved our songs - that is why so many people still listen to all our songs - today music has a lot to be desired 😊
I did too, I bought my transistor from the candy store on the corner for about $3, I was using my Mom's and I wanted my own so I saved up my $1 a week allowance to buy one. I remember it was white and I was so excited to buy it and yes these tunes were playing on it ☺️ so fun 😄

I could be wrong but it sounds prerecorded, lip syncing to the actual studio recording. Maybe audiophiles were offended.
