G14 Jarrod my friend, please make a review on G14
literally just watched your desktop vs laptop eGPU video and requested this....you beat me to it hahaha
That's exactly what I want to watch lol
You read minds, Jarrod.
C'mon Jarrod! Can't wait anymore :D
This is incredibly awesome but you have to remember that a 3080 egpu alone will cost you (if you get scalped) the same if not more than higher tier laptops
Yeah, it's a cool concept, but I'm not super impressed.
High performance and high portability was always going to cost way more.
I'm not impressed either. All of that power is external. An extra item to carry and not a small one.
Not if you go with Thunderbolt eGPU. At MSRP, a typical Enclosure ($150) + Desktop 3080 ($700) is $850. I managed to buy a used 3070 eGPU setup for a bargain of $500. My Lenovo Ideapad with TB port and 16GB of ram was $700 at the time of purchase.
So the whole 3070 eGPU gaming setup for me cost approximately $1200 USD (with 20% Intel U-series CPU bottleneck), which is a LOT cheaper and more portable than a gaming laptop.
@@blue4059 you forget the power supply and be realistic a good enclose sure is more arround 300 or 400 if you want more USB port etc...
Imagine a 17 inch version of this but the detachable keyboard can be used separately like standard keyboard and it comes with top of the line specs. You basically get a more portable machine but with a tad more flexibility.
This would be amazing ngl.
Pretty much the rog mothership
@@AlejandroCaicedoPUJ the rog mothership was allready that ^^
would be great to have VESA or better tripod connector on the back
@@AlejandroCaicedoPUJ yes but slimmer and much more powerful than that.
very much look forward to your next vid on this, since im considering purchasing this
I am extremely impressed with the performance and efficiency of Intels i9-12900H, being able to fit a 14 core CPU into a tablet, and do amazingly well in CPU performance and gaming. I cant believe how far Intel has come in a year, from being behind AMD to crushing them with 12th gen.
Hey Jarrod, thanks for the review, big fan of the channel. I have two pieces of feedback. Firstly, it would be interesting to see the thermal performance over long gaming sessions to check for thermal throttling etc. I know the 3050Ti does not have a big power draw, but this machine has such a slim form factor that its something I would want to know about before purchasing.
Secondly, for mid-range cards like this, could you consider including some strategy or RPG games in your benchmarking? For gamers who arent into eSports or shooters, it would be great to know how well the midrange cards handle games like XCOM 2, DOS:2, BG3, Total War 2, and so on. Thanks.
Hi Jarrod. Thanks to you I am now rocking Legion 7 and I am loving it!
Can't wait to see the full review for this!
CanÂŽt wait till you test the Zephyrus Duo 2022 version. Nice video too and so much work is paying out !
Thanks for the video and upload I just found your page while looking into the z13. I was kind of expecting to also see some rough game play just to see some visual then the numbers just a thought for future reviews.
Welcome! I've written about why I don't show gameplay here: jarrods.tech/why-i-dont-show-game-play-for-benchmarks/
This device looks like is going to be on my next setup. I needed this video.
Hey Jarrod, great video like always!
I wanted to know whether you will be reviewing the new Asus ROG X13 Flow 2022 edition?
Honestly seems like a good all rounder suited for most people.
Awesome video; I'm always a big fan of your content! Any chance we'll see a review of the newly updated Eluktronics Max 15 & 17 (Or comparable brand/model)? They seem like highly underrated laptops for their size and performance, and it would be awesome to see some in-depth reviews and comparisons with these. Cheers!
Thumbs up for the t-shirt.. Greetings from Joensuu Finland :)
Thanks looking for its review also!
What's blowing my mind is that this is the same egpu that you used on the x13 and it's performing so much better. I can't help but feel the vastly improved cpu is the reason for this. And honestly I'm intrigued. Modest specs for when you take it on the go without the egpu and near top of the line performance when docked at home. I'm looking forward to seeing how the traditional egpu works on this thing.
Good job
Btw plz make a video about the required system for 3d modeling and if a gaming laptop for example can meet the needs
And also about different display aspect ratios like 16Ă10 and 16Ă9 etc and the benefits of each
Tnk u so much
Hey Jarrod! just wanted to ask but will you be taking a look into MSI's GF66 2022 version with the new I7 12700H processor? I wanted to know if some of the issues from the previous iteration has been fixed or if it remains and if the 12th gen CPU will help at all. Great video by the way keep it up!
Mate, I'm desperately waiting for your review on the G14 advantage edition. I love your style. Please tell me you're working on it
I would like to know when this beast of a tablet will be available for purchase?
I'm still looking forward to see the Duo 16 to be available soon, though I am keeping an eye out between the Legion 7i just in case.
Hopefully ASUS can send that one soon!
Same here. So far, the Duo 16 seems like the 'only' gaming laptop with
1) Long Battery
2) HDR Screen
3) Good Hardware (keyboard, touchpad, speakers, etc)
@@JarrodsTech Make sure you compare the Duo's speakers and display color accuracy to MacBook Pro 16
This thing is so cool. It's like a dream machine but it's way too expensive to justify. Maybe someday things will calm down price wise
Should be 17 inch samsung oled hdr screen with auto rotatable on off..... that would be awesome. Samsung also need to bring 17.3 inch tab with android and windows in same tab, with 2 processors snapdragon and intel or amd processors with egpu options.
As impressive as it is, I just was really burnt by how cumbersome using the XG mobile actually was in practice with the X13. Inconsistent activation, major issues if not properly unplugged, and the quality control was super inconsistent. Plus the limited storage and RAM is majorly annoying on this line as a whole. Just made me push for a more traditional setup, especially for the better price and performance.
Thanks for this. I know this one was gaming-focused, but i am keen to know if we can have Quicksync when using the XG Mobile (for Davinci etc.). Tried to get that from their website but no dice. Look forward to your full review and overall thoughts vs last-gen, the X13 and whether you feel it's still worth it in the 2022 market.
Iâve been using it for while now, itâs a great laptop. The Flow X13 just kind falls behind the other high end laptops in terms of performance because of its lower wattage chip, which is kind of expected because punches so much higher in terms of performance for its weight class. I suggest that you wait for a refresh of the Flow X13 if Asus were to release one next year. But if you for some reason need an 8 core convertible right now, try to find it for a lower price.
Canât wait for the new g14 review
Happy to see that there aren't AS MANY bots on your channel as there are on some other channels. Comment section is readable.
Hopefully it stays that way đ€
I waste a lot of my time deleting them, thanks CZcams.
Hey, is there any rough estimate on when you might do a review on the 2022 Asus Tuf Dash15? I'd love to see it.
Finally a reviewer who also includes the ROG flow X13 in the benchmarks.
From what i can see its gonna be a ROG flow X13 "GV301QH-K6042T" for me between the 2
Hello Jarrod, thanks for the review, do we have a date for G14/15 reviews ?
Coming soon on the G14 but, no date of when that will be.
Man⊠the non upgradeable 16GB RAM is what turned me off big time đ⊠I was looking forward to it because I thought there woukd be at least an onboard 32GB aâla X13 & use it as my portable 4K editing machine :(
@@superlaggyrigs Understand that. Super effective in gaming, but what about real time video editing?
I can understand you. It's really sad that laptop for this price haven't 32gb version. For my work i need 32 gb ram at least. I really want to buy it but i can't. I have to think about x13
Flow with the external GPU is amazing - portability and power - would love to get one BUT the price here in the UK for both modules is CRAZEEEEEE......
Yep. Nearly 3k. That's just silly.
Last gen for both devices is about 2.3k with 3080 from the last time i checked
@@DrJambuca yeah I saw that deal.
But this new model is like ÂŁ3k :/
And I would prefer i7 processor which should be cheaper ,but still enough power
The US is also obscenely expensive for the flow+XG and honestly I don't think it's especially portable compared to even a 15 inch gaming laptop.
Been dreaming about a gaming surface like device for a long time. Can't wait for EGPU comparison video. I do wish you would test it against a desktop 3070 so the fight would be more fair as laptop GPU tend match 1step down from the desktop But thanks for your hard work.
For the price I'm disappointed that they dropped the screen resolution all the way down to 1920x1200 on all models (their website still list 4k on the highest model) but the GPUs couldn't make use of it in gaming and higher frame rate is probably more important than resolution at this size anyway. would have like to see 2560x1600 so you could potentially max out tablet screen when using the XGmobile. 1920x1200@40-60FPS with Ai assisted boost(DLSS and FSR) is acceptable as long as its on the 3050.
Also wish the i7 model came with the ti and/or more savings. Right now on bestbuy the high end spec is listed @ $1899 and the mid range spec on newegg @ $1799. At the prices shown by newegg and best buy might as well get the better processor, better GPU, and bigger hard drive for only +$100. I honestly don't believe the low end model is actually going to be sold beyond he initial run if at all. your getting a current processor but to match the surface pro 8's i5 16gb ram spec Asus has to hit a $1400 MSRP. I would have like to see an elongated more liner pricing structure (900 1399 1699) for the respective tiers for the Z13. I would think the bump to the top tier would cost more than $100s
Also what happened to the 32gb of ram and 4k screen from CES Asus? the current XGmobil doesn't and the the laptop 3080 ti runs at 1440P just above 60 even in "The Most Powereful Gaming Laptop of 2022?" video so there's no point real point but it would have helped justify the $1900 price tag even if it was just for content consumption.
Dream spec is of course i9 32gb ram, 1TB, 3060ti , 4k for $1800 + xg mobie with a 3080ti for $1200. My ideal spec probably would have been an i7, 32gb ram, 1TB, 3060 built into the tablet, with a 2560 x 1600 screen. as I mentioned earlier the 4k screen isn't really necessary at this screen size and under powered GPUs

Hey Jarrod! Iâve been thinking of getting a gaming laptop for a while now, but I just canât choose between these three, can you tell me which one of these are good for Gaming and productivity? If none of these are good than can you recommend me a laptop with a similar price? Btw this is going to be my first gaming laptop.

Finally! Wooo I've been waiting for this one. I need to know that the keyboard is as good as the SP8! Starts to watch... .
Question: Can you buy a replacement keyboard? This is a REALLY serious question.
Hi Jarrod, thanks for the review, also want to ask you if you tried PUBG on lower and higher settings, thank you!
Thank you for this video.
What I'm waiting for from this channel đ„đ„đ„
what?
@@amashaziz2212 I meant the review,the beast of a tablet
After this one is out, i am really waiting for the new legion 5 review. Hope it comes out soon
Hey Jarrod. Can you test the ROG SCAR 15 I9-12900H& RTX 3080 Ti ?
I'm looking forward to seeing the battery life on the tablet when playing games with the 3050ti. Since laptop battery life is pretty sad across the board for high-performance devices, the Flow Z13 could be a really strong competitor depending on the battery life. It's got the ultra-portability, a great design, and is able to transform into a desktop setup. Great battery life would be icing on the cake IMO.
Sadly it is 3 hours of browsing, according to Ultrabookreview.
I must say, think a bit before buying RoG laptops, since they're not really cheap at all. I had mine since 2018 and I cleaned and changed the thermal paste regularly, but at the start of this year the laptops GPU fan went wild - it would vibrate so hard and you could feel it, even if no game was running. It was like it was catching on something from within the laptop.
Once my replacement fans arrived, I disassembled the old ones - the maker of them (Forcecon, since they have the FCN sticker) had a flaw where after some time the piece of glued transparent plastic that goes over the circuits within the fan base would come off and hit the fanblades which produced the vibrations (and even broke the plastic things where the screws go).
I'd like to see those Ray Traced numbers, pump em up with DLSS...
I am interested in 5120x1440p actually, but seeing 4K and 1440p, the in-between shall be enough to decide I believe.
I would be curious of a review or comparison in what can be done on the z13 bare bones without the GPU. Maybe getting that model and the mobile 3080 for heavier usage. But what kind of work could I do on the go with just the basic z13?
I am looking to replace my MSI GE70 Apache Pro-012 17.3-Inch Laptop that I got in 2015. I have a Surface Pro already, but I like the idea of having something as portable as the z13 yet can be used as a main device when connected to the GPU and external monitor. I was originally looking at the Legion 5 pro (AMD). But I really don't know...
I don't really play a lot of games. I play Minecraft with my family on our family server, but that is about it. My main usage besides the normal stuff like Excel, Word and One Note would be video and graphic editing. Also, OBS for livestreaming our church services to FB and YT.
I also want to future proof my purchase (I have had this laptop for 7 years and I could probably inch out another year or two if I hadn't dropped it. Although it is getting very slow and bogs down with newer software)
What to do, what to do....
no more talks about ryzen .I am going for this .Jarrod i have a humble request from you ,since you have made so many videos about msi ge76 (12th gen one) ,can you make a detailed guide about this laptop. you will get a content to for your second channel. :) Love your videos
That's great and all, but where is the hands on review with the Legion 5 2022? I thought the Intel model was supposed to be for sale this month?
What's the release date for this one and pricing with Mobile XG?
Yes. New video!
Great review, I was looking Forward to this one, I have one question. Can the laptop be connected to a monitor without the external gpu? thank you.
This will be discussed in the review, which should be up tonight.
@@JarrodsTech thank you for replying, I'll watch it later.
Pls talk about the pen too. how does it compare to the wacom / huion in accuracy, etc.
Any word on when the new Legions will be out? They were supposed to release in February but I can't find any further information about them.
I was interested in seeing the power consumption and /or limits of the CPU.
Hey Jarrod, i had a request, it could be an interesting video. How about you pair an external gpu like 3080 with an ultrabook processor and see how much bottleneck there is on 1440p or 4k? (Maybe intel 12th gen or amd 6xxxU) It would also be interesting to see efficiency of the cpu, you could show bottleneck with cpu set to 25W,15W,45W etc.
Actually good content đ
Now can't wait for the X13 that's the one I'm waiting on.
This could be quite ideal for my use case if not fir the price and the lack of hdmi 2.1 which is a deal breaker.
Hey Jarrod, great video! Just got the i9 fhd version and the upper Thunderbolt port canât be used for charging. I asked around on an unofficial z13/x13 discord server. Apparently other owners of i9 version have this issue too. The i7 version however doesnât appear to have this issue. Can you please check it using the included charger?
I can charge from both ports. It will be mentioned in the upcoming review.
Hey Jarod, Love tour vids! I would love to see some more variety in the test games though. I think the third person open world awsome graphics genre is a bit overrepresented. Try to include some shooters that are semi-demanding to have a nice middle ground between the 60fps AAA games and the 200+ of CSGO.
Maybe something like destiny 2, Apex legends, battlefield, CoD etc.
This really goes to show you can't please everyone lol. I asked for new games in a recent community post and added the top 2 requested games to this video. No one seems to care about new Battlefield, Apex is a huge pain to test, COD removed the area I test in and I haven't yet been bothered to work out how to benchmark it yet.
Hey Jarrod, is comparing the Z13 with the XG Mobile to a TB4 eGPU still on your schedule? I'd be really interested in seeing a direct comparison.
It is, there have just been some technical issues with the egpu that we're sorting out.
@@JarrodsTech Thanks for the quick reply. Really looking forward to it.
Just heard that CyberPunk 2077 got a new patch 1.5 where it addeed FSR (yay for your additional benchmarks for Radeons), changed DLSS version (ok), but also improved RT shadow lightning, tanking performance when RT is turned on (because of better shadows visuals). How you should care all of this? I genuinely ask, bc any future notebook review would be screwed by 10+ FPS w/ RT turned on, if compared with last year reviews, unless you redo everything (which I do know you can't, as laptops aren't in your hands anymore)

Lenovo Legion 5
@@JarrodsTech I appreciate it man.
@@JarrodsTech please recommend the best 17.3" gaming laptop with top-notch thermals to date...budget is not an issue! Thanks
I just wish they gave the option to give the gpu more power, at least 100% more would have made a lot of difference then again the thermals might have suffered. All in all for the price when compared to the Surface devices, you can't go wrong.
I like the appeal of this tablet, but I'm not sure if I'd pick this over the Microsoft Surface Pro 8.
any idea of temperature when stresstesting the cpu with and without xg mobile connected ?
Very impressive
I do hope AMD gets an AMD advantage build tablet from Asus with USB 4 thunderbolt might be really cool when and if it gets certified for thunderbolt
Much better than Razerâs 14 inch âportableâ 3080âlaptops. Both are at around the same price. This runs cooler. Is more portable, have way better gpu performance when docked. And much more ports.
Razer have 100w 3080 with no mux switch, overheats and battery bloats. Plus fans sounds like a helicopter.
this one's 3080 GPU dock also has no mux switch, you have to connect an external monitor to the dock in order to bypass it. The tablet itself has a mux switch for the 3050 though.
@@tiunchi you are wrong. The xgmobileâs connector runs through pcie lanes, it âreplacesâ the stock 3050ti as far as windows os is concerned and bypasses Optimus automatically.
@@PrototypeElucidator did you watch the video? or did i heard wrong. need to watch it again
@KPM Ruwanpathirana you heard right. Check around 1:30 to 1:40 where he says that you need optimus if you connect the xg mobile to the laptop screen
The 2022 Blade 14 added MUX btw, also goes to 3080 Ti, though probably same power limit so perhaps not much difference, yet to see what a 6900HX can do though.
I honestly want this specifically for school/coding and not for gaming, so i wonder how much cheaper it will be without discrete graphics
I said this with the X13, make a 15" version and Id buy it!
Finally the benchmarks are rolling out
Hey jarrod, when you mentioned system latency. Iâm wondering if using the igpu instead of dgpu will decrease system latency? Iâm debating on whether getting this or the upcoming Asus 14x oled space edition with an intel i9. I only plan on doing light gaming and would really love a video of you comparing an i9 12900h using igpu to an rtx 3050ti.
iGPU increases the latency. Like screen response time, I do this test with optimus off if possible to show best results. I'll make this clearer on the LDAT graph.
Oh wait I already added that to the graph, I think this was the first time it's specified. It depends on the laptop, but I tested iGPU on vs off here: jarrods.tech/laptop-latency-comparison-intel-vs-amd-vs-optimus/
@@JarrodsTech what I meant was not using a dgpu at all compared to using one. Like would using the integrate XE graphics and not using dgpu have lower latency than using a dgpu? I figure it would be lower since the cpu doesnât have to communicate with a separate gpu
Sir can you do a serial review of the MSI Gf63 thin RTX 3050 version...if you do it ..it will be very helpful . I request you because I trust your reviews a lot
what a time to be alive lol this is absolutely insane
Thank you this is the future of pc mobile gaming.
Oh this just reminded me of the xg mobile, is there a 3080 ti mobile refresh model of this?
A battery test please!
It may look like a funky product, but I need a mobile gaming solution and I need a tablet running Windows for work and meeting notes... I am just worried about the price tag, the previous eGpu from Asus was super expensive. So expensive that a good value 16' with a 3070 and a Surface Pro 8 was cheaper than the X13+eGPU.
Super coolđŻđŻ
So, to sum things up, the Z13 on its own with DLSS on is a beast!?
These results are mind boggling! Question: Does the XGM have have a hdmi 2.1 port?
I am not sure any Asus laptop so far has HDMI 2.1 but despite just being 2.0b some are built to higher spec than others, like Lenovo
Lenovo Legion 5 only has HDMI 2.0b and yet supports 4k and 120Hz just fine.
The 3080 XGM has HDMI 2.0b, the newer 6850XT one has HDMI 2.1 but slightly lower performance. It's an annoying limitation.
Word, I guess there is always next year's model đ€·ââïž
Have they announced pricing?
Never missed your content, keep doing something different, brother
its all good with new Intel chips but when are you getting the new AMD CPUs and GPUs ?
Got to wait for 2nd/3rd gen
Could you do a best gaming budget laptop? Value for money Rtx 3060 laptops?
Whens the release already ?
I need this in a a 17 inch verison....yes yes a 17inch tablet would massice.
Hey jarrod if the Gf66 you tested this year could be bought for 999$ would it be worth it?
So, I've checked the listings and neither of them say anything about the 3080 eGPU being uncluded. Is that something I would need to purchase separately? I mean it seems kinda dumb to ask lol, but im curious.
You can buy them with and without the XG Mobile. If the listing doesn't mention the XG Mobile, it means it doesn't come with it.
well... i think it will more interesting to see a comparison between 3080 and 6850M XT, let's see how it perform
I wonder why there's no some kind of external pcie connector, hardware limitations?
Holy fuck that's way more promising than I anticipated đ€©đ€©
I have a question for you about the legion 5 laptop. i was wondering if it would be possible to swap the legion 5 4 zone rgb keyboard with the individually lit rgb keyboard from the legion 7. It would also require a software swap from the legion 7 to run the keyboard rgb, but overall would it be possible to do so?
Is this new camera or something? I see better video quality?
I'm looking at this setup for a mobile photo editing/video editing and streaming while docked. Do you think this will run into issues? The only thing I'm hesitant about going this route because of the 16gb of ram. Did you try editing or anything like that on this?
