This dude has been on a ROG Ally hate train for some odd reason.
Really? I don't hate the ROG Ally but I do hate having to return it due to hardware faults ijn the controller. And yes, the W11 implementation is poor in Armoury Crate.
@@fmulleady always wait couples of months before buying a new device.. the z1 extreme work as intended
valve gave him a free steam deck, thats why
you'd still have to dualboot windows on the steam deck in order to play all games since some games can't be run on linux
ROG sucks. The amount of buttons it has compared to the Steam Deck makes it impossible to run any PC game that isn’t native to the use of controllers.
Steam Deck can literally run all PC games with ease, even the Keyboard-heavy ones.
Thanks to the 2 Trackpads, 4 extra buttons on the back, etc.
Aside from performance, ROG Ally can’t compete.
I've been using win 11 and it crashed once, maybe twice on me and I was editing photos/videos, playing games and other stuff. Now win 11 is almost done project.
So should I get windows 11?
@@IampaztroNo if you don't want another Spyware on your pc
@ToastyMoon no there's lots of hidden telemetry and spyware that is forced on windows
@ToastyMoon how do you know it's actually disabled?

I got one. Spent over 2 hours doing updates (windows and bios updates). A little frustrating but now that it's set up...works great.
I think mine took about an hour and I was up and running.
But if a learning curve using windows 11 on a handheld but once you get the hang of it, it’s great.
Been playing Red Dead Redemption 2 on high settings and for the first few hours I had a big smile on my face… feels like the future tbh lol

I love that everyone is scared of Linux, but nobody wants to go back once they've had a polished Linux experience
If they are going to make a own Distro like Valve did, I will be amazed!
fork of steamos smh
@@Jokypond SteamOS is a fork of Arch. I think they will be using Arch to make their own OS. OR really use a fork of SteamOS but that would be crazy.
@@tobihudiat they wouldn't, windows and game compatibility and accessibility
First off, Valve did nothing special with SteamOS. They did not invent Kde. It is just Arch tested held back with a locked root system. They mainly developed Proton and Steam Big Picture Mode. Second you can’t really legally make a distro of Windows at least not without the consent of Microsoft which will ask you why you need it
@@jimmyneutron129 I had KDE way before SteamOS... I never mentioned that Valve made KDE. I even have KDE merch at home ^^
I already know what SteamOS really is... Just seamlessly gaming without thinking that you have Linux with all the troubles it can offer is just amazing. It is locked down like Fedora Silverblue and Kinoite but you can easily disable it if you want with one custom command they made.
Don’t let this video discourage you from buying Asus rig ally. When steam deck released there are tons of bugs and issue but they constantly releasing patches and updates.
SD cannot play My Gamepass
Yeah, tbh if u want a handheld console for cheap head to steam decks certified refurbished.
A literal handheld gaming beast of a PC and you're complaining about Windows 💀
I'm pretty sure a handheld PC with windows is perfectly fine, especially considering it's better than the competition in all other ways
Cool but all the cpu isn’t gonna be good when it’s being used up by bloat
Wow I think it’s better to buy the 700 custom pc that you built. Also I have ur 250 dollar pc the only reason I use it to play valorant
Yeah I’m building around a 600-700 pc and it will be better then this but the handheld is a pretty cool luxury even if you have a pc
or a 700$ rtx 3050 laptop
@@sourpenguin360with $700 you can get a pc with a much better RTX 3060 ti or a 6700 xt.
Nah some ppl love that it’s a handheld instead of mouse and keyboard and portable
My windows 11 doesn't have crashing issues, but f**k those Bluetooth and audio issues.
Plus, Linux/Proton runs some games better than Windows (Grid doesn't work on Windows 10/11,but runs happily on Linux). Now if only more developers would enable the Linux version of Anti-cheat.
Got mine and its awesome. It's not hard to figure out the updates 😂 same as having a gaming pc using a controller
I also don’t know how it can be called a steam deck killer when it’s 700$
because its better at only $50 more than the most expensive steam deck which I might ad is the most popular steam deck according to valve
@@CJTheTokay every SteamDeck owner I know, bought the cheapest version and upgraded it either with high speed SD card or by swapping SSD. It's way cheaper, and you're basically getting the same console but for a much lower cost

I’m not having issues the ROG is honestly my favorite purchase
I have had zero problems with windows 11 on this thing for the past year. This makes no sense
Well, Windows 11 once you keep it up to date and make sure you don’t miss any important updates it runs just fine. It’s not too different than playing on an actual gaming computer which also runs Windows, but it’s cheaper and more portable.
Then why not get a small gaming laptop instead
@@teetogoaroson1392 there aren’t too many small laptops with a decent performance to play most games, most portable gaming laptops are 14” and they cost more or a lot more than this device. They are not worth it imo. This device may not appeal to most people, but it offers portability, decent performance when you are on the go and the price is competitive. Windows is a plus, as it will just get better overtime with updates and gives the benefit of installing many programs and emulators. Some people are just nit picking the device.
If you were looking for a steam deck like system, but you don’t want a steam deck you should consider the Lenovo Legion it’s slightly better in my opinion
Windows 11 constantly crashing seems like a you problem
Since the ASUS ROG Ally runs Windows, that means I can easily crack my games in the device so for me, Windows is not a downfall.
it is stiil downfall. playing crack games is nah, better throw your console, when you cannot buy games
@@melmarmanzon7837 i got the ally and lemme say it is totally worth it so duck off

The Ally is a monster. Cinebenched it and the CPU scored 13,000 in R23.
That's the same as a 10700k or 11600k. And it's a darn handheld! You could literally use it for mobile editing.
