Getting a CX 30 Preferred trim when my ship comes in, should be couple weeks. I am psyched. My first new car at age 70! I never expected to be able to get a new car. I am most fortunate.
That is super exciting! I hope it’s everything you’re expecting. 😀
Congratulations my friend it’s never too late. I’m almost 40 and just bought my cx5 and it was my first new car ever as well.
Hey,good luck all around. At 76, I am looking at new cars, too.Mine is 19 years old, a Civic that never had a problem. I am INTIMIDATED by all the technology. Also, I found the Mazdas windows very small all around, esp compared to the Forester.
Hey there! How do you like it? I am 70 too and looking to replace my 2002 Toyota Highlander V6 with less than 100,000 miles before she develops issues. ❤
Minnesota just had an enormous Snowfall, and I loved owning this car!
That’s awesome to hear! Thanks for sharing. 🙂
I like your style and you don't talk too fast for us old timers. I like that you show the exterior from many angles and your commentary was good throughout.
Thank you so much for watching my review and sharing what you enjoyed! 😊
Thank you for reviewing Preferred. I'm so annoyed with most people doing reviews of top trims only of every car (turbo/HEV) and completely ignoring base engines like people don't buy them at all and aren't interested to see how they perform.
Oh for sure! I try to cover a lot of trim levels of the models I have access to. Not living in California means I have less options to work with lol. My reviews have already come a long way and I hope to start going through the 2024 Mazdas soon! Thanks for watching! 🙂
Just purchased the Preferred an your assessment was very accurate and not the need to be negative because the car has received quite a bit of hype. Thanks.
These are sweet cars, I hope you thoroughly enjoy it! Thanks for watching. 🙂
just got mine yesterday,my 2020 cx-3 was nice but this is much more refined and much quieter then my cx-3,we will see how it goes and the price for a lease was very good.thank you for this viedo!
That’s exciting!! Thanks for watching. 🙂
Let me know when you turn it in so I can buy it. Lol
If you're not going to have a passenger in the middle back seat, just remove that headrest. That improved visibility instantly.
That’s a great tip! 🙂
Just bought the Xarbon Edition CX-30 a few weeks ago, and absolutely love it.
Mazda lists the CX-30 as having 8" of ground clearance across their entire CX-30 line-up. ...I believe in 2020, the base model was 6.5" or so, then went up to 8.0" in their upper trim levels. Glad it's the same across the board. Quite a few videos out there with the CX-30 in the snow, and it looks more than capable in wintery weather - which was a factor where we live. With our Honda Pilot, for us and our family, this is the perfect second car. Our family hauler will always be the Pilot. But when I go solo canoeing, this little CX-30 is a going to be a great tripper to and from the water. :)
Those CE are super nice, I’m not surprised you love it! I really enjoyed one when I reviewed it a while back. Oops you’re right, thanks for mentioning that! It looks like 8” on all but the base that was 6.9” rated, at least originally if not still? I have no doubt the AWD is great in deeper snow, I just know from my own experience for now I’ll be driving my Outback Wilderness a while longer. Thanks for watching! 🙂
@@AutomotiveAnonymous208 - Your CE Review was a big reason we chose that option. There were no CE versions around to view much less test drive. We test drove a CX-30 Premium and I test drove a CX-5 Turbo to get a feeling of the Turbo engine. We loved the red leather, black wheels and mirrors and the Polymetal Grey paint of the Carbon Edition - didn't feel we needed the Turbo (i'd probably get into too much trouble with that engine). Plus, didn't need a turbo while hauling the canoe down a dirt road. So CE it was.
Love your car videos.
It sounds like you made the right choice! That red interior is seriously such a sweet option. It’s to bad there’s not a CE turbo. 😉
Check out Driving Sports TV on CZcams. You’ll see that the Subaru CrossTrex is better in the snow over the Mazda. In fact Subaru is better than any other AWD unibody vehicle off road and on road for that matter as far as traction goes
@@Doc1855 - Saw that video - we drove the CrossTrek. Definitely a solid car - but noisy inside. Much preferred the interior of the CX-30 over the Subi. With long road trips north for canoe fishing, I'd rather ride in comfort and style of the CX-30, and the CX-30 does does plenty good in snow.
Website says 8in ground clearance but I'm told 1.5in doesn't make a difference. Glad to see you review this trim, most likely the trim I'd get.
This was one of my first CX-30 reviews a few months ago and I think I didn’t full read the ground clearance rating. Early year low trim levels had the 6.9, but it sounds like they’re all 8” now. It’s a sweet ride, I wish you the best in whatever you decide! Thanks for watching. 🙂
Test drove the 2.5S select and drives really sporty
Glad you thought so! Are you going take be picking one up? 😉 I’ll likely upload my CX-30 vs. Crosstrek comparison in the morning.
Am I correct in that preferred is $3000 more than select with just the seat upgrades and the tilt side mirrors? I mean, no more sun roof and only a $330 credit?
If that’s what you’re seeing on the website than probably, there might be other little details but I’m not entirely sure. And $330 credit for the sun roof is pathetic, especially when that’s usually a $1,000 option on most cars. Best of luck in what you decide, and thanks for watching! 🙂
Does anyone know what the heat is like in these cars? We bought a kia rio 2 years ago when it gets really cold out the car is terrible for heat. We are looking at buying a Mazda Cx-30... this exact model although 2024 obviously!
I can’t speak to the CX-30, but I will say my Miata gets very warm. It’s also a tiny interior space though… lol. 😂
What is the deal with cylinder deactivation on 2023 models except the turbo. I don't know anyone in their right mind with an understanding of engineering that would want that.
It made me decide to buy a 2022 with 7500 miles on it rather than a 2023.
I have the same car and same color. The screen is actually a touch screen and is activated when connecting your phone via Carplay
Thank you for adding this!
"It handles pretty well for what it is." Boy, that's an endorsement if I ever heard one.
Haha 😅 well it’s a small FWD based CUV that feels agile. In that category of vehicle it does handle better than most of the other manufacturers, but it doesn’t handle like a proper light weight RWD sports car. 🤷♂️ I appreciate you watching! 🙂
Is the preferred the same as the GS with luxury package?
That’s a good question, are you in a country other than the U.S. ? If they’re similarly spec’d you’re probably correct! 🙂
@@AutomotiveAnonymous208 I live in Canada. The model I was spec'd was labelled the GS-L. Essentially the GS model but with the luxury package on top.
Oh gotcha! I would imagine it’s very closely related then. Sometimes the manufacturers will release slightly different options though between countries. I’ve done a lot of Subaru videos and there’s also interesting differences between US to CAD spec’d cars. 🙂
@@AutomotiveAnonymous208 it's so weird. A lot of times I see the exact same types of cars that we can get here in Canada but with US plates driving on the 401 highway in Ontario. And the exact same cars just look slightly different like the trim models I think available in the US are probably better, this is my speculation though, I don't know for certain if they are.
Yeah, that is weird! Honestly, I think it’s a trade off, at least hopefully it is and not one sided. I say that because the Outback Wilderness that I have was spec’d better in the Canadian trim for the last two years than our version was. 🤷♂️😝
What is the difference between this 2923 and a 2021?
I’m not quite sure, I’d recommend watching a video of a 21 or reading a magazine reviews for the year to year changes.
@@AutomotiveAnonymous208 you’re missing my point I have a 2021, CX 30 preferred package and Insee zero difference exact body style color Snow flake pearl Mica, sun roof, sport mode, same size tires it’s a CPO less than 20,000 miles. Purchased from Mazda Dealership the only difference is that Black leather interior with Blue Leather accent. It’s a great car for an excellent price.
Would be great if it was just 4 inches longer
So this is a 2023 w/o a sunroof?
Yeah, this is a 23! It might have not included a sun roof because of those chip issues. I remember a couple vehicles I borrowed had issues or lack of options from that.
@@AutomotiveAnonymous208 I would not purchase w/o.
This Car doesn't seem to be a Premium Model. Just bought One and i paided $35.500 for mine. Has automatic lift door and Moon roof and other Bell and Whistles that this One doesn't have. But all and all We absolutely Love this Car..Mazda Knocked this One out of the Park.. Zoom Zoom 😎
Zoom zoom! 😁
@@AutomotiveAnonymous208 😊
Wow, 35,000 is a lot of money.
@cherylbrantley4736 Car is Absolutely Spectacular.. Jet Black Mica and Black interior. Go Test Drive One, You just might buy One? Oh Yeah, I also got a Lifetime Warranty on the Powertrain.. Very Pleased with this Car..😎
The ground clearance is 8 inches not 6.9.
You’re right, thanks for adding that! I was thinking of certain trim levels of the earlier 30’s.

Thank you, I’ve started indexing the sections on my newer videos, but did not on my first videos such as this one. Thanks for watching! 🙂
i wish you had shot this video in shadow:)
That would have been sweet! 😎
You should have turned the car away from the sun to reduce sun glare!
You’re right! We often get 3 weather seasons a day where I live so lighting/sky is constantly changing. But with time and practice I’m trying to get lighting and sound quality better. 🙂
It’s too small for me.
And you gotta love the interior colors that they found in a 1990 Corolla.
I would choose Toyota CH-R over this one.
Toyota did a good job making the CH-R look pretty darn cool. 🙂
@@AutomotiveAnonymous208 definitely 👍 the design is outstanding sadly they are not producing them anymore in the US. Just in Europe
CHR with CVT and underpowered engine , poor quality LCD displays , loud interior , slow ...
CX30 is way better .
Looked at the CH-R, but absence of AWD and poor rear visibility were dealbreakers.
Not me.
I wanna know who designed those ugly wheels. Most importantly, the manager that approved it!
😂 😛 Thanks for watching!
wow mazda removes all the frontal usb ports. no led interior, no touch and a small infotainment screen. big shame
Personally, I prefer the usb ports in the center console. I'm not sure about the LED interior. However, the "small" and "non-touch" infotainment screen is probably the best in the class. In fact, I was looking at other vehicles to replace another vehicle. After much research, I decided upon the CX-30.
@@ccchhhrrriiisss100 no doubt that little change does not take away from this car in anyway, this unit is the best in class for sure!
I dislike touchscreens. I hate having to take my eyes off the road to change the radio station. I use voice controls for most things anyway. Safer ... and no grubby fingerprints.
@@RockandRollWoman voice control on this mazda is a pure shit
@Aspyde I use my phone's software, so wouldn't know.
Mazdas have the worst build quality I have ever seen. The plastic panels on the interior scratch easier than a scratch off lottery ticket. It is absolutely pathetic and I believe Mazda should be sued for this
@@Hankman23 bahahahahaha that’s a cap.
You’re smoking crack, interiors are beautiful and well built. Sounds like you’re a Hater. Whats next your going to brag on Ford. Lol
