“Omg. Haymitch, no.” The most accurate reaction line for this whole series 😂

The director for this film, both Mockingjays and the current film is Francis Lawrence. But Gary Ross directed the first one. Their styles are quite different. I believe the cinematographers were also different but I'd have to IMDb it.

I'm unsure about filming location, but District 12's location is roughly near the Appalachian mountains in North America. The cinematography of this film is much different because of the change of director. Some people hate the first film's shaky cam, but it serves as a way to show how unstable and disorienting Katniss' situation is. The shakiness gets worse during fight scenes, for instance. In this film, when she has financial security and more self-assuredness, the camera movement becomes much more steady.
Some added context, without going into spoiler territory:
    - The scene with Peeta giving her the bread was fleshed out quite a bit in the books. Katniss was digging through the bakery's trash cans looking for food. Peeta's mother found her and yelled at her to stop it. Katniss crossed the path and sat under their tree to starve to death (she wouldn't have been able to even walk all the way home). Peeta heard this whole exchange and burned two loaves of bread on purpose. Peeta's mother is abusive and beats her kids. He knew he would be severely beaten for burning bread, even on accident, as their finances weren't great at that point either, but they could at least survive. He did it anyway, knowing his mother would tell him to go feed the bread to the pigs. He went to do that and after making sure she wasn't looking, he threw her the two loaves of bread. Katniss could eat and make it home to feed her family. The next day, it was the start of spring. After school, she saw Peeta and his bruised face. She saw the first dandelion of the spring sprouting and that in combination with Peeta's act of kindness gave her the courage and motivation to go hunting on her own for the first time.
    - Katniss hates feeling like she owes people, because she only trusts herself to take care of her and her family. She doesn't want to take hand outs. She feels guilt towards Peeta for never thanking him or doing anything in return for the bread. This also means that she struggles with accepting help and trusting people, hence her taking a long time to accept that Finnick is actually trying to help them in this movie.
    - It's rarely stated directly in the books, but Katniss' cold exterior is a front she has learned to put up. After her father died when she was 11, her mother went near catatonic due to her depression and stopped working. The three women in her household were quite literally starving to death until the bread incident. At age 11, she had to step up and be the adult of the household and take care of her little sister. Katniss appears cold, but she is, at heart, a caretaker and wants to help people. The coldness is a front to protect her and Prim, but also to avoid getting attached to people. In the books, she says she doesn't want children for as long as the Games exist and people live in poverty. This means she's not opposed to kids in general, just when they can't be safe. This caring nature is also why she gets attached to Rue, Mags, Wiress and Beetee, as they are the ones who can't really defend themselves.
    - During the first Games, Katniss faked a lot of stuff for the cameras, but not all of it. The book spends a lot more time in the cave. She felt attracted to Peeta and enjoyed kissing him. They spoke a lot about home and the things they love, including Katniss' love for her sister. She even thinks at one point while they are sleeping that this is the first time she has felt this safe since her dad died, and this is while she is IN the Hunger Games. She can however not allow herself to fall in love. She has been so focused on protecting and providing that she has never really even thought about romance. She also feels that LOGICALLY, she should be with Gale (he's a good provider, caretaker and has been the only man in her life for four years) despite only loving him as a best friend / family. Couple her trust issues with her guilt feelings about Gale, as well as resentment at their relationship being 'born out of the Capitol' / as an act, and it makes sense why Katniss cannot accept her feelings for Peeta. The thing is, love doesn't give a shit about all of that. Her love for Peeta creeps up on her, despite her protests, and she finally realises it on the beach in this film.
    - We find out that Peeta has loved her from a distance for a long time, but was too shy to approach her due to her badass and closed off nature. We also hear that Peeta's father actually loved Katniss' mother, but she married a miner with a beautiful singing voice that would silence the birds around him to listen (Katniss' dad). Peeta first starts liking her when they are 5 and he hears her singing in music assembly and the birds quiet down as well.
    - Katniss and Peeta's skillsets compliment each other. Katniss is a survivor and is skilled at ranged combat, but sucks at handling her feelings and can't act for shit. Peeta is incredibly emotionally intelligent and great at acting and manipulating an audience, along with being really strong and a great wrestler. Peeta however has nearly no survival skills, growing up far more privileged than Katniss, and would die to natural causes without Katniss in the arena. He also can't aim at all, which is pretty funny.
    - Peeta's line about her "looking at me as if I'm wounded, I can stop acting like it" means even more in the book. Yes, he's referring to the love act and his hurt feelings, but he also lost a leg in the first book and has been an amputee for only a few months at this point in the book. Along with the typical trauma of the games that Katniss has as well, he has to deal with a part of him being missing. He HATES being an amputee and dislikes having to rely on his prosthetic leg to get around. It's a constant reminder of what the Capitol put him through. He also feels self-conscious about it and people have been treating him differently because of it, despite him still being the strong and caring Peeta he's always been. The physical limitations it puts on him is also part of why Katniss and Haymitch agree to protect him in these Games. They feel guilt about the act in the last one, about Haymitch prioritising sending Katniss sponsors (even though Peeta would have wanted that in any case) and they also feel he is a better person than both of them and deserves to live more, but they can also acknowledge that he is at a major physical disadvantage this time around and isn't completely comfortable running on the prosthetic leg yet.
    - The 'love triangle' in the books isn't reallyyyy a love triangle. It's always been pretty clear that Peeta is endgame for Katniss. Her situation doesn't allow her to really worry about that, but the Games and her feelings of guilt towards Gale push her towards him. Taking a look at her inner dialog though, Katniss never feels desire or passion with Gale and tries to convince herself she should love him romantically, whereas she can't stop herself from thinking about and growing to love Peeta, despite herself trying hard not to. Peeta would always win her over, Games or no Games.

The drink offered to Peeta at the party is not alcohol it is to cause vomiting so he will have room in his stomach for more food. It comes from a very old practice during the Roman Empire.
Haymich uses alcohol to cope with trauma. He is very important to their survival first when he convinces the game maker to have 2 winners in the first games and in this one he starts out saving Katniss' life when she interferes with Gale being whipped and sets up with Plutarch and the rest of the tributes.
Always remember the series was designed to show how politics, propaganda and war work and how people feel about it.

Hii, about johana (girl that undress in the elevator), get undressed in front of katniss just as a way to make fun of her , it's not showed on depth in the movies but it does in the books, katniss is a child first of all (16) so it makes sense , but she's very modest with her body in comparison to other tributes, she doesn't show a lot of skin and when her team pick her up clean her and take her to cinna she's very self aware and extremely uncomfortable with being exposed in any physical way (in underwear, naked, even show a little of skin, be seductive, etc those kinda things) she's also uncomfortable with other peoples nudity, sadly they would purposely make this kids appeal more desirable in case of girls to get esponsors in the arena in a subtle way, short dress in case of glimmer (blond in the puffy dress in the interviews first movie) see how shes even presented in a flirty way, they definitely sexualized tributes as a society it's not very evident in the movies but it's subtlety described in the books. A good clue about that is that they even wanted to give katniss a boob job ...imagine that shit.
It's quite normalized so naturally to the capitol and the other districts she's seems ...to be very puritan in comparison, hence the making fun of her that way. If you are attractive you are desirable, if you are desirable u would get sponsors and if u make it alive they would want something in return, they don't see there kids as people but posetions, another example is in this movie, how they touch her shoulder when she walks into the mansion ...and when a victor from other district just Kiss katniss and everyone laughs...like my guy what the fuck... it's another layer about how fucked up this world really is
