31:48 "he thought he was doing something smart."
he was all coked up ready to save the day!
40:26 "not y'all fighting _up_ the stairs." 😆
" THROW SOMETHING OUT THE WINDOW!!" That was perfect timing.
Used to watch this every Christmas, one of the best action films ever.
21:38 "be careful what you wish for."
journey marie with the one liners. perfect for this movie. 🙂
Alan Rickman (Hans) agreed to do his own stunt fall, but the look of shock was genuine because in rehearsals he was always 'dropped' on three, when they shot the scene he was 'dropped' on two. I hope the sequel, it's just as good and just as explosive. Good job.
One of my favorite Christmas movies
Yup. Same here.
"Welcome to the party, pal!"
It isn't Christmas in my house until Hans Gruber is THROWN off the top of Nakatomi Plaza. 😎
Merry Christmas! ✝️ 🙏 🎄 🎁
Fun Fact: In 2007, Bruce Willis donated John McClane's undershirt to the Smithsonian Museum.
Making Lemonade Fact: The scene where McClane (Bruce Willis) falls down a shaft was a mistake by the stuntman, who was supposed to grab the first vent, as it originally was planned. He slipped and continued to fall, but the shot was used anyway; it was edited together with one where McClane grabs the next vent down as he falls.
First Face-Off Fact: The scene in which Gruber (Alan Rickman) and McClane (Bruce Willis) meet for the first time was inserted into the script after Alan Rickman was found to be proficient at mimicking American accents. The filmmakers had been looking for a way to have the two characters meet prior to the climax and capitalized on Rickman's talent.
Casting Notes Fact: Alan Rickman nearly passed up the role of Hans Gruber, which ended up being his first American film role. He had only arrived in Hollywood two days earlier and was appalled by the idea of his first role being the villain in an action film. To a degree, Rickman was right to be concerned considering his performance as Hans Gruber was so hailed that the actor had to struggle being typecast as a player of villains for much of his career.
Location Location Fact: The fictional Nakatomi Plaza is the headquarters of 20th Century Studios, so the studio could use one of its own buildings and didn't have to hold back on stunts and action sequences. While Jeb Stuart was writing the screenplay, he did a tour of the building, and immediately incorporated some of the locations and objects he found there into his script as set pieces. The company charged itself rent for the use of the then-unfinished building. Some of the middle floors were occupied by legal and administrative departments, so only empty floors were used for filming. Still, the filming of scenes that involved gunfire had to be postponed until after hours because some of the employees from the active floors started to complain about the noise.
Karl escaped his hanging because when John wrapped the chain around his neck Karl’s hand was between his neck and the chain.
The first time watching your channel. Out of at least 25 other reactions to this movie, You are the best by far !!! Don't know how I overlooked you. YOUR LEGIT !!!! And a lot smarter in predicting what the script should do next !!!
Wow I really appreciate that thank you!!! Hope u stick around😊🙏🏼
22:35 "and he was just trying to buy donuts for his pregnant wife."
come on jm. he's eating those twinkies. he gives his wife two packs, max.
Lmaooo good point🤣
Die Hard 2 and Die Hard With A Vengeance are must watch
Yup. Die Hard With a Vengeance is my favorite.
Classic movie
I first saw this movie many years ago at school here in the UK, last day before the Christmas holiday.
BEST CHRISTMAS ACTION MOVIE EVER MADE!
It's based on the 1979 novel, NOTHING LASTS FOREVER, which was a sequel to THE DETECTIVE, which was turned into a movie in 1968 starring Frank Sinatra.
Damn chica, been two decades since I've seen this movie. This is at the front of my list before the end of this year now. Nice reaction.
Great reaction Journey Marie, to one of my favorite movies. I also love the friendship between John and Al, White and Black teaming up as it should be in all things!
Thank you!! & absolutely agree😁
@@journeymariereactswhat’s your IG so I can shout your page out
I definitely recommend the next 2 Die Hard movies!!!
I can just thumbs up this before watching. I already know. 😂
Great reaction journey keep going keep coming with the best movies
Thank you! Will do!
Classic movie love the video Marie stay motivated dream big 1 mill on the way
When Hans told Takagi “Who said I was a terrorist?” I knew this flick was about to be different.
This was Alan Rickman’s first big movie role. Hans Gruber is a classic movie villain who is not stupid.
Yup.
Great reaction! Diehard was an instant classic from the moment it came out . "Welcome to the party, pal!" 😆
Keep up the good work! Pleasure to watch your videos!
Thanks, will do!
12:39 that little smile 😄
I always keep a flashbang handy to deal with the unexpected. BTW you may have recognized Sgt Al as Carl Winslow from Family Matters.
Trivia:
Bonnie Bedelia, who plays Bruce Willis’ wife, is actually the aunt of Macaulay Culkin. Her birth name is Bonnie Bedelia Culkin.
Thanks for the info! I didn't know about that.
@@reneedennis2011 yeah it’s kinda interesting, I’ve been watching Die Hard for years and just read this information a couple of days ago.
@lewstone5430 Yup. Same here. I like learning new information like that.
keeping my fingers crossed that we'll get full reactions one day. 🤞🏼
merry christmas 🎄🙂
Lol u never know🤷🏼♀️ merry Christmas to u too🙏🏼
Great reaction!!, and I’d definitely react to the first 4, you can do 5 if you want to, but it’s no necessity and you won’t really be missing anything.
38:09 Fun fact Karl the psychotic vengeance driven bad guy is played by the late Alexander Gudonov. He was a Russian ballet star who defected to America and got into acting.
Yup.
Yes recommend the die hard series. There are five die hard films in all. First four are worth watching.
Amazing reaction! First time I've watched a reaction of someone with a masters degree! 😂😂 i love your jump scares and sense of humor. Can't wait for the next one!
Lol so glad you liked it😊🙏🏼
Hans and his merry band of mercenaries are a callback to a Nazi infiltration unit back in World War II. They were trained to speak English fluently with near perfect accents.
However, small bits of American trivia would foul them up. So asking questions about who won the Baseball World Series or asking about movie starts would be part of a security guard’s repertoire for screening.
In one case they got so bad that African American troops were put on guard duty. They were told to pretty much fire upon anyone who did not fit their demographic who approached checkpoints unannounced.
Happy holidays Journey! Nice shirt, btw. There's an old saying that goes, "Christmas does not begin until Hanz Gruber falls from the Nakatomi building." 😎
10:00 This is definitely a Christmas movie. The main story to me is John trying to make it back to his wife Holly. Despite their marital problems he will go through hell to keep her safe. John isn’t an ex special forces dude or a superhero like he would be today. He is just a dude trying to keep his wife safe.
The subplot is John fighting off the bad guys.
Love the moment when Holly corrects John and introduces herself as “Holly McClane”.
Great reaction 🔥🔥🔥
Thank you!! 😊
YESS!! MY FAVORITE MOVIE EVER!!
Argyle was played by the same guy who tried to steal Ray Charles' guitar in the Blues Brothers 8 years earlier. .
i did not know that.
Such a classic and endlessly rewatchable movie.
I forgot how good this movie is, this really one of the greatest action movies ever. Bruce Willis is one of my favorites.
37:19 we don’t see such vulnerable heroes in movies anymore. McClane really does fear for his life. He doesn’t think he will prevail. But he just keeps on fighting.
love watching an MBA react to good TV 😉
🙃🙏🏼
Thanks for the video!! See you later!! Stay safe and Merry Christmas 🎄🎁😊
Thank you! You too!
I think 1 and 3 are the best. 2 is ok
14:29 "period." 😀
45:12 "period." 🙂
It's not Christmas until I see Hans Gruber fall from Nakatomi plaza.
Carl Winslow from "Family Matters" . Well done friend enjoyed!
Yes! Thank you! Glad u enjoyed🙏🏼
Thanks Marie I just came home from work and by coincidence I found your channel, and now I am relaxed and having fun by watching your reactions! By the way, I am from the Dominican Republic I live in London still improving my English and your speaking is helping me a lot! I just wanted to say Thank You!😁
Wowww thank you so much!! It really means a lot to me🥲🙏🏼so glad you’re enjoying my videos so much😄
Some of the best reactions to my favorite movie! Big thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it😁
45:01 ☺️ goosebumps
16:09 ☺️ goosebumps
So many classic lines 😂
The cop is Carl Winslow who is also a cop from the show Family Matters.
Its always great to see and hear from you Marie. You're post / reactions. God bless you and support you always ❤️🙂
When it comes to Christmas movies the first Die Hard is my favorite.
The actor that played the part Al Powell is the same actor that played Carl Winslow from Family Matters.
Also was wondering if you have seen the movie Hostage ? Its a action thriller movie that has Bruce Willis in it. No one else has done a reaction to that movie.
Never seen but I’ll look into it! & thank you!! Glad u enjoyed🙏🏼😁
It just ain't Christmas until I see Hans Gruber fall off of Nakatomi
FYI A Rolex in the 80's was kinda like a status symbol.
You are very smart and pretty, Great reaction 😊
Thank you! 😃
20:51 "You don't mind if I take a look _around,_ do you?"
"Naw. Help yourself."
I've worked in private security. I can't imagine why it would be different anywhere _else._ When you're standing watch at a commercial site and someone from the _police_ department comes by, you play _host_ to them. You _show_ them around, just in case there are areas they need to get into that only _you_ can access.
Now I have a machine gun, ho ho ho 😂
The first three are damn near a perfect action trilogy..
Merry Christmas and best wishes for the year ahead. Thanks for your reactions so far. Look forward to more in 2024
Same to you! & thank you🙏🏼
I went to see this movie with my friend Lisa at the beginning of my junior year in college. This movie is an action classic! I really enjoyed your reaction, especially your predictions!
So glad you enjoyed!! Thanks for watching🙏🏼😊
@@journeymariereacts Thank you, and you're welcome 😊!
“He seems annoying” if you only goddamn knew…
Hi journey Marie, I loved your reaction to this movie ❤
Thank you so much!!
39:23 "well damn. you didn't have to say all that." 😀
Never fully watched this movie until now, had the same reaction at 45:30 💀and I agree with you idk how die hard 2 continued from this but I might wait to see if you react to it. You gave great insight at the end as usual.Feels like Im watching classics with a friend I never knew ( and I just saw your Master's post congratulations that is a lot of hours and hard work!)
Thank you!! & I’m glad u enjoy watching with me🥹🙏🏼
Hi Marie little by little I am watching all your videos! I am new here but I am enjoying your reactions and your Beauty! If I am not wrong there are about 5 Die Hard Films and I enjoyed them all in a different way of course! Die Hard With a Vengeance is my ❤! You should watch "Man on Fire" with Denzel Washington! 😁👍👍
18:33 unfortunately that’s what my ex wife used to always say 😢😅
37:18 "Does he think he's gonna _die?"_
Well, I mean, first, as a cop, it behooves him to bear his own mortality in _mind._ Second, since this situation started, he's been staring his own mortality in the face a lot _more_ so than usual. But third, he was pretty much just slapped in the _face_ with his own mortality, just now. He's sustained numerous shots to his _legs_ and he's had his bare feet sliced open on broken _glass._
So, yes, he probably figures, at this point, that his own death is an outcome to prepare for much more _overtly_ than usual.
4:41 things are kind of loosey-goosey at the Nakatomi Corporation. doing sex and cocaine on each other's desk, practically in front of the president of the company!
26:40 they look like they never held a rifle in their lives,,,,
31:06 Harry Ellis: "Now tell these guys where the _detonators_ are so no one else gets _hurt._ You know, I'm puttin' my _life_ on the line for you, pal!"
Grand Moff Willhuff Tarkin: "You're _far_ too _trusting."_
46:19 "yeah!"
satisfaction.
2:45 "Why doesn't she know if he's coming?"
Two words: cell phones.
They didn't have them in 1988.
Of course, you know that, but not having lived that way, you might not recognize how much harder it was for people to communicate before cell phones.
She invited him, he accepted, but it's holiday travel. People miss flights.
People in a hurry don't often have time to stand in line for a pay phone to call ahead, and even if they do, the other person needs to be waiting by her phone to answer that call.
So, basically, he ran onto the plane without calling her and she doesn't know if he made the flight or not.
She's mad that he didn't call.
That's a lot more than 2 words, but in a world without cell phones, communicating was not always convenient.
34:19 "All you gotta do is pull the trigger."
Hans violated basic _gun_ safety when McClane handed him this pistol. Basic gun safety stipulates, whenever someone puts a firearm in your hands, assume it's loaded and point it at something you can afford to shoot (in case it accidentally goes off) while you set the safety and open the chamber to _check_ if it's loaded. If he had done that, he would've seen that it's _not._
45:40 "What? I did not expect him to be alive."
Nobody did.
But, it's plausible.
The human brain can survive 3-4 minutes without air.
John hung Karl from the roof and less than 2 minutes later the roof exploded, setting him free before he really suffocated.
He fell 10 feet or so, but a strong athletic guy like Karl might easily survive that fall with no injuries.
The roof probably collapsed, but not next to support walls and Karl was right by the support wall so the roof didn't fall on him.
He spent a few minutes looking for his gun then came down looking for John.
Yeah, any of that might have killed him.
But he also might have survived that.
It's at least plausible.
Love the reaction young-lady, id almost forgot how good this movie was...they do not make them like this anymore...the sequels are not bad either..🙌🙌
Always remember, Die Hard is a Christmas movie.
I love your reaction videos. Especially the 2pac ones, you have great insight. You have a such a sweet beautiful smile. Your facial expressions are so damn cute❤. I saw one your videos and was hooked lol. Keep doing your thing.
Thank you so much for the kind words!🙏🏼❤️
@journeymariereacts You're welcome 🥰
Typical day at work.
Definitely watch 2, 3(which many feel is the best one) and 4.
We all know that Argyle is the true hero of this movie.
The second one was entertaining even more over the top if that’s possible but what you would expect with a sequel. The third one is the best after the original and Samuel L Jackson is in that one so def keep checking them out 😊
27:30 "Damn, that did all that? Maybe that wasn't such a good idea."
The C4 made a little explosion, but that blew up all the rockets too, making more explosions.
Sure, it was a good idea.
It safely killed two terrorists and destroyed their rocket launcher.
You NOT calling the black cop "Carl" is making me feel old! 😄
Lol🤣😬
Journey, watch "Count of Monte Cristo." One of my favorite films. Would love to see you react.
'all i know about this movie is it's a Christmas movie....' is what i thot she was going to say
Good reaction but to let you know McClain never saw the report so he had no idea.....😊
I do hope that you have a good Christmas.
Great movie I think you like it sweetheart. Hope all is well with you and your family
Homegirl up to her old tricks..."First Time Watching!", lol.
🤔
30:32 "period." 🤨
This movie made Bruce Willis a big star. 2-4 are worth watching but I would personally skip 5 which is the last one. It’s really bad. With this being one of the most iconic 80s films, it made me wonder have you seen The Karate Kid(1984)? If not, that series is worth watching as well.
Loveee the karate kid movies!! & ok thanks for the advice🙏🏼
@@journeymariereacts Oh ok that’s great then & your welcome.
Congratulations on your degree💕
Thank you!!
The sixth sense is a perfect Bruce Willis film
Yesss I’ve reacted to that, it’s on my channel😁
17:15 "Is she slow? Does she think he's lying or prank calling?"
Just a few minutes ago they got a call of a fire in a giant skyscraper.
They dispatched a dozen fire stations to respond to that emergency.
That right there cost the city $20,000 just to roll those trucks out.
Then they found out it was a malfunction.
Not a real fire.
Just a few minutes later, some guy calling on a CB radio from the same location?
Yeah, she thinks it could be a prank.
Two false reports at the same address in just a few minutes.
Should she take this one seriously and waste more taxpayer money?
Or send a cop to check it out before she overreacts?
She might have done the right thing.
Investigate before wasting money.
You should react to “American Me”
Argile is my next cats name.
There are actually five Die Hard movies.
5:24 😖Oh, god. I keep forgetting about that _horrendous_ laugh.
