    Nice watches, but in this price range, I still prefer A. Lange & Sohne and Czapek, but especially A. Lange & Sohne.

    Love the LF Grand Sport, the Galet is pure class. Out of my price range, but will be eagerly awaiting the day these start exploding and everyone all of a sudden knows LF.
    Thanks for another great video!

    No doubt their finishing is better than FPJ. I don't know its crystal doesn't have AR coating. That would be a deal breaker for me.

    The escapement is not entirely a silicon escapement. Only the detent that controls the interaction between the escape wheels is made of silicon. Furthermore, the balance spring is made of traditional metals. • @ihopetowin
    @ihopetowin Před 3 lety +2

    Pity it has a non adjustable throwaway silicon escapement; that's a deal breaker for me. All elements of a mechanical watch should be adjustable.

    • @chia-mingyang5804
      @chia-mingyang5804 Před 3 lety +1

      They have several models with a traditional escapement, but personally I would rather choose this natural escapement.

    • @ihopetowin
      @ihopetowin Před 3 lety +2

      @@chia-mingyang5804 What is more natural than a traditional escapement using ferrous materials? As I said, silicon escapements are an unadjustable throwaway. The majority of high-end independent watchmakers do not use silicon and won't use silicon as the use of this material represents a slippery slope toward the loss of craftsmanship and soul.

    • @chia-mingyang5804
      @chia-mingyang5804 Před 3 lety +3

      @@ihopetowin Natural escapement is the name of that specific escapement structure. I used to refuse silicon parts before, but now I don't. Silicon has many superior properties so more and more brands use it. In my opinion, a well made watch won't become "soulless" just because of some silicon parts. I also don't think there is much more handwork involved in other watches' lever escapement with traditional material than this watch. Most brands just put in pallet forks and escapement wheels which are made by machine.

    • @ihopetowin
      @ihopetowin Před 3 lety +1

      @@chia-mingyang5804 I agree, silicon is superior to ferrous metals in certain ways. You can go ahead and buy what you want. I'll just say there exist timepieces that have been around for hundreds of years using ferrous metal that continue to work to this day. It's just my opinion, arrived at by process of reason, that if you can't adjust silicon springs and or escapements, then it is no longer a mechanical element as part of the mechanism and has been removed from the artisan's creative repertoire, craftsmanship and finesse. If accuracy is the deal here or magnetisation, then procure a Casio. I'll stick with the craftsmanship ideal of horological artisans, past present and hopefully future. Probably, you should see what independent watch makers like Smith, Journe, Voutilainen, Dufoure et al have to say.

    • @chia-mingyang5804
      @chia-mingyang5804 Před 3 lety

      @@ihopetowin Sure I did. My favorite watch I've ever owned is the Credor Eichi II. Probably for you it's also a "soulless" watch, but for me it's the best watch in many ways and still remains my first choice in its price range. I do respect the watchmakers you mentioned, but I also have my own philosophy.
